  1. Sounds very much like a relay then Karl. The inline fuse will no doubt switch the coil on the relay therefore, closing or opening the contacts within dependant on whether they are normally open/normally closed contacts. You will need to source this fuse and relay to see if voltage is arriving/leaving the relay.
  2. Karl, have you a volt meter? If not then I would suggest you get hold of one or a multimeter capable of reading DC Voltage. Turn the lights on individually and measure for 12Volts, you can take the ground reading from either the socket earth terminal or any exposed metalwork on the vehicle (a nut or bolt would suffice) once you prove the ground stick to it and continue to turn the varying lights on one by one. You say that you have changed all the fuses I am confused as to why? Did you check that voltage was at the fuses before changing? have you checked that voltage is leaving the fuses and reaching their final destination i.e. the lights since changing the fuses?
  3. Hi Mark, welcome to The Jaguars Owners Club. I believe you will find us equally or better that the forums for which you are used to i.e. The Accord Forum. My Son was a member of The S2000 forum for some time which he praised. I believe also you will enjoy the XF experience.
  4. Sorry Paul, attempted to look without success
  5. Hi Adam, the previous answers to you query probably gives the correct answer however, a simple method of proving the clutch is to place the vehicle in an higher gear 4/5th with handbrake fully on. Attempt to pull off if the car rev's then then the clutch is knackered otherwise the engine would be expected to stall. Hope this helps.
  6. I believe it is common sense that any live exposed terminal/wire is a potential hazard and therefore, should be addressed. There has been some very good advice posted to this thread from fitting a plastic bottle top to obtaining a battery terminal cover from a breakers yard. Do we really need to prolong the thread?
  7. A great result for United especially looking back at the last four or five derby results.

  8. I fitted the parrot to my XKR which I find excellent. It can see more than 1 phone i.e. I use my personal and company mobiles with no problems at the same time. Originally it was fitted into my SL55 by Halfords but I took it out when selling the car. Think I originally gave in the region of £299 for it. Plenty of wrapping companies out there who can probably demonstrate or show you samples of what can be achieved. I like the wood dash myself but thats personal choice.
  9. It would be the norm to expect the positive terminal to be protected by some form of cover, most battery manufacturers supply the battery with such. As for the earth terminal then this would not be the usual expectation. Mentioned earlier was the fact that any live cable touching the bodywork would cause a short with the bodywork being grounded is quite correct however, this is why the circuitry of the vehicle is fitted with fuses. I am an electrical design engineer, no matter what you are designing for 12volt, 24volt, 240volt, 415 or more the fact that you design for fuses within the circuit is to protect the cable. If it does short then it should blow a fuse and NOT sustain any heat by prolonging the short that may cause a fire. In short, I would investigate purchasing or making a cover for the positive terminal.
  10. Hi Clare and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. You will note there are members always ready to assist wherever they can. Joe wrote that I would be in a position to assist you with the wiring loom and I am sure I could have however, it would also appear that Joe as pointed you in the direction of locating the said loom on ebay for what looks to be a reasonable price.
  11. I would personally stay well clear of using the power jet. The machine has its benefits but not on my cars, cold water rinse, then shampoo (I prefer Turtle Wax Shampoo) using a micro fibre cloth before once again a cold rinse with an hose pipe. Like previously advised do not wash when hot with the sun blazing await the cooler evening period or get up early.
  12. I have similar only it was bought for me some years ago, an exact replica of my SL55 AMG even down to the colour. Much larger than your normal Corgi models with moving parts such as; * All doors open * Boot opens and roof folds away within it * Bonnet opens
  13. Towards the end of last year I averaged 54mpg on A & B Roads in the car I use for work and I was on a round trip of 130 miles daily and believe me my foot was to the floor wherever I deemed it safe to do so around the Brecon Beacons and Market Towns such as Hay-on-Wye, Leominster and the retrospective villages associated with them. The car is a 55 plate Mercedes CLK270 Cdi and moves so the figure shown on your picture not not surprise me.
  14. Can I suggest you download the software for free OBDII and purchase a 16 pin to USB lead widely available on Amazon and Flea Bay. OBD is a very good diagnosis software
  15. Hello Johnny and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. Enjoy your experience on here and fire away with any questions that you may have, usually, there is another who have asked the question before. Like yourself I have transferred from Mercedes. I cannot say yet that its the best car I have driven because I have not had the time to play with it. I bought the Jag Sept 2014 and spent the first 3 months of this year in Intensive Care with Double Pneumonia and having sold my SL55 AMG for the XKR we will have to wait and see.
  16. Unfortunately Brighton is just that tad to far for a run out for me otherwise I would mot certainly enjoy a meet up with like minded men belonging to the same club
  17. In that case then yes I would say so to ensure you are not running dry resulting in damage to the box. However, I would most certainly source a recommended garage and have it checked out asking the question to myself out loud "Why is the dip stick showing no fluid"?
  18. In my own personal opinion Victor take it to someone who knows what the are doing. Automatic Gearbox oil changes are not all straight forward in that of emptying the old and refilling with new. I know with my old SL500 there was a procedure that was to be followed. You will find a list of recommended garages on the forum rather than taking it to a main dealer cannot comment on Wrexham I live at the better end of Wales down South Dai Own. Welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club and enjoy the experience.
  19. Hello Ray, and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. Although being a Welsh boy and Man being born in the Country and returning to my roots at the earliest opportunity in my teenage years I was brought up in the West Midlands therefore, know Stourbridge quite well. Like Peter I don't regard it as small.
  20. Frank has given you great advice about the new nut, make sure you use a hex socket to remove and re-tighten the new nut. Using an Hex head socket the size should become quite obvious I would have thought having, no free play.
  21. Understand what your saying Joe, my brother spent £60,000 on his F Type (Fabulous Car) I hate my brother :-) I doubt the dealer be cheaper but if you can afford to spend that type of money on a car then, are you worried about the cost of a small can of touch up paint?
  22. Welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club Pete, if you have any questions then fire away someone will have the experience to give an answer.
  23. Obviously a matter of opinion chaps which must be respected. I have had paint mixed at Halfrauds for about 11 years without any problems however, I also had a safe solid colour which blended very well.
  24. If everything was fine before the strip down Ieuan why take it apart for a cleansing? Again if it was all starting and running fine before the strip down I can only assume something as been missed whilst re-assembling. I cannot pin point your problem not being there but wish you luck in finding it.
  25. Hi Paul and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. You are quite right there is a wealth of information available from the members.
