Yes, I was a little surprised in the complexity the designers have gone into to develop these modules. The only way I can see us getting to the bottom of this issue is by locating the modules and measuring the voltages as they are plied for opening closing etc. Obviously I would need to be with you to apply my experience due to the fact I don't have an S Type. The modules in figure 10.2 shows both driver and passenger side having two individual motors with no indication to witch is forward/reverse therefore, no they will not have different polarity unfortunately. The module also shows a resistor bank albeit just two resistors without icing any indication of resistor values or why they they are in the circuit and the heater element circuitry. There is a lot of cables going into each module which can be identified buy the colour codes but without knowing what the individual components are within other than the fact the motors are show along with the resistor bank and heater I wouldn't like to hazard a guess in drawing a electrical diagram with the information available to us.

Because they have modules controlling them I believe its going to be hard to find an answer to that one Paul, they must surely be controlled via the ECU with the electrical diagram showing forward and reverse motors for each mirror along with resistors and heater elements obviously being controlled by an outside temperature sensor which probably inhibits mirror movement in case of seizure.

Paul does this mean that when stationery the mirrors return to the closed position? If this is the case then it solves our little dilemma of power mirror modules, I suspect they are controlled by the ECU like the seat etc

I just take the garage door open/close remote in the car when I take the car out of the garage, I have a Parrot for my mobile phones that I am more than happy with as they expand on being just a hands free phone bluetooth machine.

Paul, the old saying; if you don' ask then, you don't get. However, I do believe Joe as pointed you in the right direction with the breakers yards being a more likely place to find one or even an online breakers yard albeit they tend to rip you off a little.

Happy it all got sorted for you Paul, you may wish to consider my automatic open close relay idea if so then I would be happy to draw up the electrical circuit for the modification.
