I need assistance from any JOC member that may be visiting a breakers yard. I am on the look out for a pair of bonnet vents for a Jaguar XKR (2002). Colour does not matter I can easily spray them. Jaguar have quoted me nearly £200 each for the pair of original bonnet vents hence, I searching the breaker yard option. I currently have chrome vents installed into the bonnet which I think look horrendous and I wish to restore the bonnet back to original. If some are found then I would be most grateful if you can PM me the location, contact details of the breakers yard etc. Thank you in anticipation of your assistance in the matter. Ken

I am on the look out for the original bonnet vents for a 2002 XKR. I priced them with Jaguar and they want nearly £200 each therefore, I'm appealing to all club members that may visit a breakers yard to look out for some. I do not care in the slightest about colour, I can easily spray to match. If anybody locates some please forward the contact details on to me so that I can follow up. Currently I have pathetic chrome vents that look atrocious and I wish to convert back to original. The car otherwise is mint with only 52,000 on the clock.

Silicon grease available from the like of Maplins revitalises the rubber seals bringing them back to life. I have used it on my convertibles for years.

Quite a common problem Steve, it sounds as if you have a sensor on the way out. Its an easy process to establish which sensor is faulty. When you have the problem get some assistance so they can sit in the car. With engine running get them to select reverse obviously with the handbrake firmly on. Go to the first sensor and you should hear it clicking if its not then it to be assumed faulty, if it is making the clicking sound then its fine. Get your assistant to knock the car into neutral and repeat the process on all the other sensors until you can establish which sensor is faulty. They work on a daisy chain basis therefore if 1 does not work then your reversing sensor system will not. Good luck, come back and let us know how you get on.

Good news Sal

Yes I would be interested in such, particular interest to me is sound system upgrades from which there appears to be a lack of information.

Not sure about the X type not owning or have owned one David however, I am assuming it is a bolt on wing? If so the task is relatively simple. Obviously removal of the wheel making sure the car is supported well, the use of axle stands if you have some would be recommended along with a hydraulic trolley jack. You will need to remove the inner wheel arch covering, sometimes they are 6mm bolts which will mean a 10mm spanner or socket or they may be poppets. Once this is removed then its just a matter of removing the bolts securing the wing to the body and hey presto. Repeat the process in reverse to refit the new wing. I'm assuming no spraying is involved if its as you say an identical replacement from flea bay. Good luck, come back and let us know how you get on.

Bienvenido, Croeso i ti, Parakaló, You are welcome Dave, maybe I should chuck in the Norwegian also; bare hyggelig

Would the thermostat be jammed open therefore, not allowing the temperature to heat up sufficiently. I have had the same sort of problem in older cars in the past

Hi Dave and a warm welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. Must say at £900 you have had your monies worth already in terms of flight fares although, I'm getting a lot more than 30 to the gallon with my supercharged 4.2ltr V8 XKR, maybe because its more aerodynamic. I went to London last week and drove back and forth to my hotel daily which equalled 417 miles on £60 and I have also got an heavy right foot especially when I finished work on the Friday and just focussed on getting home for the weekend.

Hi Chris and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. Have not experienced any issues with the speedo sorry therefore, cannot assist you there. I'm sure there will be someone seeing your post that may have a better understanding however, failing that I would suggest you contact an Independent Jaguar specialist, it cannot be that much of a problem seeing you already have a replacement. Let us know how you get on so that we can arm ourselves with the knowledge should another face the same problem

Hi Conaught, welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. There are many members on here owning an XF and rate them very highly. I would respectfully request you read through the posts retrospectively to your model whereupon you may pick up a few tips and guides.

Never heard of a complete headlight assembly containing numerous lamps whereupon you cannot change a lamp separately. I can remember the sealed beam units however, these did not contain numerous lamps such as headlamp, side lamp, indicator etc

Hi Scott,a warm welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB forum. You will meet some good people on here who can offer decent advise, assist you with queries and help you find independent garages etc. Many large engines have a slight bellow of smoke on start up, I would wait until it gets far more serious than that before removing the head replacing valve seals etc in fact, there are so many additives in Halfrauds and the likes that claim to seal leaky valves etc, it may be worth attempting the use before a major operation on the motor. -
Not another blinking annoying caravan on the road Andy, shame on you :-)

Hello Dave and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. I apologise but I have no answer to your questions having not experienced such myself however, there are many members on that would have the same model you have so hopefully there will be someone who can shed some light on the issues, good luck

Hello David and a warm welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. Like Peter before me I also sense a fuel problem going on there and I would expect the engine to be reaching operating temperature after 7 miles of driving unless of course, if those miles were downhill. I like to clean my fuel system out at regular intervals by adding REDEX to a tank full of fuel.- 3 replies

Hello Neil and a warm welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB, friendly lot inn here and very helpful if you have any questions. Unfortunately we are out of season for Sport/Dynamic modes, I will only let my toy out of the garage when the sky is blue

Sounds very much like the rain is causing dampness there somewhere but then I am not with the car to make such a diagnosis. Have you got a diagnostic tool or OBD11 software to see if there are any fault codes showing? If you are stuck with the same problem on your return journey and are a member of the RAC/AA then they carry a diagnostic tester on board their vans.

Hi Andy, not owning an X-Type I cannot answer your question however, if its anything like the XKR then you can. By taking the relevant wheel off and undoing a few self tapping screws you can pull the wheel arch liner back to gain access

I believe Andy has hit the nail on the head there
