  1. I wouldn't bother Paul, await the bugs to be ironed out and read the reviews first. I recall installing Windows 8 on my old Sony Vio when it first came out and it ruined my laptop, I was forced to reformat it. Normally you would find a file like install.executive within the folder which would install it if you wished to proceed.

Hi Andrew and a warm welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB, sounds like you have bought a good quality Monday I drive a 2002 XKR and upgraded the Sat Nav from a later model due to the fact like you I was used to using the likes of Tom,Tom/Google maps etc however,the upgrade is no better and I find myself following the Google map. In general I only need the assistance to locate a Street/Area of a Town or City,I'm streetwise following many years of driving to know in which direction I should be travelling to a City and the road signs tell you when to turn off. If it helps or peace of mind my company car BMW X3 as a sat Nav which is next to useless.

    Tyres

    I had to stick with a 9" rim in order that I could maintain the 275 try on the rear, I have 8" on front due to the fact I have 245 there. The fact that both front an rear were two different sizes from Manufacturer made it very difficult to purchase a set of wheels of different sizes.

    I would personally have no objection to changing the wheel or tyre size to any vehicle so long as the calculations have been carried out correctly. I changed my 20"BBS wheel with 35 profile tyres due to the hard ride they were giving. I chose an 18" wheel then used a number of tyre/wheel calculation websites to verify each gave me the correct combination. I now rum on 18" Coventry Hornet Wheels with a 45 profile, width of wheel remain the same.     Not sure about the S Type however, I recently had a very good deal on Michelins for my wife's car via my tyres.com Purchased on line and fitted balanced etc free at a National Tyre centre of your choice including date/am or pm options. Paid £90.00 each but had the same tyres on my SL which were on there for nearly 30,000 miles before needing to be changed.

Big welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB Bill, I would firstly agree with Peter investigating first the jets using a pin or similar then if it still hasn't cleared further investigation to the hoses, disconnect the small hose at a feasible location get someone to operate the washers and fluid should freely pump out. If it doesn't then investigate the pump firstly by checking power is getting to it, blown fuse, bad earth etc

  13. Hi Steve, I agree this type of thread is normally very popular on other forums. On Saturday I was out on the A4059 Richard Hammond's favourite road whilst testing on Top Gear my roof was down and I seen many sports cars, TVR's, Merc's (SL & SLK's), Porshe's and others but not 1 Jaguar except that of my brother's F Type who came for a blast with me. The sound on his car is awesome
  14. Robert, personally I would get a quote from a Stainless Steel exhaust fitting company. I had Pro-Speed Exhausts in Cardiff fit a complete system on my SL55 AMG complete with 2 sports cats, it sounded amazing. I would be looking to do the same on the XKR when the exhaust or the Cats go but not before. I paid around £850 for the whole stainless system which I thought was reasonable. Obviously to far away from you unless you wanted to make a day of it, the ask you what sound you want, I just wanted the motor to be quiet but roar when I hit the revs. There are plenty around such as longlife.co.uk

  18. Hello Jon and welcome to; THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I echo Peters comments in that it is good to have a member with Jaguar History. You can and will I'm sure had to the knowledge bank we are quietly building up on here. I loved the XK120/220 along with the D type, it's a shame Jaguar disappeared with such good cars for far to long. At least they are know making inroads in supplying fabulous motors again, my brother has the new F Type and that is a fantastic car, will be a classic in years to come

I'm sure you will not have any issues with your new toy especially with the warranty that you have acquired however, if you feel there is then don't be afraid to ask. The lads/lasses on here will always be prepared to listen and the knowledge library has built up over time. Diesels have come on in leaps and bounds over recent years, my Jaguar is a 4.2ltr petrol supercharged therefore, its not economy that I was expecting when I bought it converting from an SL55AMG however, I also have a CLK with a 2.7 diesel turbo engine with returns 53/54 mpg driven respectfully ha ha. I believe thats fantastic from what I consider a fast car

  23. Did you have the air conditioning system pressure tested prior to being regassed? Many people through no fault of their own take their cars to garages offering deals on regassing however its common to find that they will not carry out a pressure test prior to gassing. Good companies would pressure test first due to the fact the sealed system does not lose gas as a general rule without there being a leak from aged hoses etc therefore, it is necessary to establish where the gas is leaking from before considering replenishing. Due to the fact you have a 13 year old car and it was fine until recently suggests to me there is a leakage that requires a repair. The only method of finding the aforementioned leak is a pressure test. Good luck

To ensure your sensor is faulty or which of the sensors are faulty get someone reliable to sit in the drivers seat, turn on the ignition and engage reverse obviously keeping their foot on the brake pedal and an added precaution of having the handbrake fully on listen with your ear to the sensor one at a time. The sensor should make a clicking sound if its OK repeat on all four sensors to determine as to which one or more is the faulty culprit/culprits. Sensors are wired in a daisy chain and if 1 is faulty then none of the others will work properly. I cannot comment on the fleabay sensors for sale however, Peter's advise sounds very good to me as it always is therefore, it may be worth following his instructions.
