  1. Thanks Pet I will give it a go fortunately the diagnostic did shoe a code number and it was in the area of turbo and I had an actuator replaced which did improve the performance considerably and on the first journey towing everything went well but on the return it happened again.still round the same area and its going in for another procedure to hopefully rectify the situation. fortunately I have a good garage who do not charge me for labour only parts as they said customer satisfaction is worth mor that money and I have been a customer of theirs for years. However I will tell them about the fuel filter and see what they say. Sorry its been so long answering your reply to me but I have been away. Regards.
  2. I don't know if I am in the correct section for this topic but it is electronic. Can anyone Help? I have a Jaguar XF sports 2012 3Lt D which I have had for several year with no trouble. However, while towing my caravan this year, it goes into Restricted performance. I had it checked out and had a new Activator fitted after cleaning the old one which made no difference. Everything was Ok with the new part and the performance was noticeable better however after one and a half hour towing it went into restricted performance again. I cleared it by switch the engine off waiting for a while and turning the engine on but this only cleared it for ten minutes or so. While driving solo the restricted performance does not appear and the car runs perfectly well with no faults appearing. It has been on various diagnostic checks which shows everything is ok and brings no codes up even Jaguar can’t give an answer except change everything, (very expensive). Has anyone had this experience or suggestions they could give to me to rectify this matter? Nev 1.
  3. Sorry to hear your predicament I have been burgled some years ago so I know what its like. Regards.
  4. Hi I bought a CD for my 2008 XF off E bay for £235.00 and I found it worked very well and was as good as the original. I would now like to upgrade my 2012 XF but I haven't been able to find a suitable USB stick with one on as this is what has to be used apparently . Any suggestions please.
  5. Hi Anyone tried to get 25% off on line from Halfords when ordering anything as sent to us by the Jaguars Owners Club? I have tried but Halfords do not recognize the code SPRING25

  6. Just changed my 2008 Jaguar XF 3 L V6 petral for a 2012 3 L XF S V6 diesel to be able to tow my caravan more efficiently. Anyone had any experience with this model and is there any pitfalls or problems you have had?At the moment it runs very well and quiet with 38K on the clock.

  7. That sounds a good idea Joe and something I will get checked out on mine although I only do about 4K a year, however I do tow a caravan with it so what you say does sound sensible. Thanks once again Joe.
  8. Thanks Joe, I appreciate this information and I have printed it out and put it in my file for future reference. My garage who repaired a very noisy diff got onto Castrol who advised them what oil to use and put it in. As you say it is a sealed unit but they were able to do it all for a fraction of the price Jaguar would have charged and now it is as very quiet and that annoying grown is no longer there so it is a pleasurable to drive. Thank you for your advice once again as I will pass your information onto the garage incase they have another to repair. Regards Neville.
  9. Thanks to all of you who came back so quickly it has been a help and will pass it on to the garage. Thanks once again.
  10. Hi Can anyone inform me of what grade of oil is needed for a XF 208 automatic differential as my local jaguar dealer say they do not know as it just comes in a bottle with a number on it. They were not very forthcoming about anything. Nev.
  11. I have been a member for about eighteen months and after purchasing my first Jaguar I decided to join the Jaguars owners club as I wanted to know a few things about my XF. After posting subjects on the forum I was helped considerably by members who were very friendly and helpful put me at ease with their advice. I have found that this club is a great way to find out what to do about ones car if issues arise before going to any garage which may try and blind you with science if you are not a mechanic. Thank you one and all for all your friendly advice you have given me since joining and perhaps be able to meet some of you sometime in the future. Nev.1
  12. Hi My apologies for dropping in like this but I upgraded my sat nav for my xf with a dvd bought off ebay for £25.00 with all the countries in europe and it works perfectly. I was a little concerned as I was told that cheaper versions could damage the sat nav but mine works perfectly.I hope this helps? Nev.1
  13. Hi I bought one last year for £25.00 and was reassured by the seller that if I had any difficulty he would refund the money. I duly received the CD and it loaded it easily in my XF however it would not play in English but every other language but English. I duly contacted the buyer who sent me a replacement without any bother although he did offer to refund me.I found the supplier it on E bay but I cant remember the site. I have been satisfied with the Sat Nav although there are better ones out there than Jagua. Nev 1
  14. seen the suction ones which stick directly onto the door mirror but the towing mirror is quite small and I have Does anyone know of suitable towing mirrors for my XF as I have tried various mirrors with screw clamps which slip off and ones with straps on them which slide off because of the shape of the cowling on the mirror, also the straps are not long enough to secure them properly, also I have herd of them coming off while towing. 15. Thanks Pete as you said I think the delete button is only for you. Does this mean these old topics stay on for ever? Regards Neville.
