Hi mate, This seams to be a very common problem with Xtype and other ford related engines. My turbo had to be changed according to the dealership at a cost of £1300 about 4 years ago.(limp mode problem) I discovered later it could have been the actuator. Last May I was driving from the UK to Alicante and about 50 k from home it went into limp mode again. I parked and allowed the engine to cool somewhat and it started ok. Then it did again 5 times on the trot. I took the car to my local garage in Spain. He took the turbo off, checked it and we had the Actuator properly examined. I sent it to an electronics firm near Canwick. It cost £50 but came back 100% ok. The mech. refitted everything did an oil change as he said claggy oil in the turbo can cause it to go into limp mode, he also cleaned out the EGR. The car goes better than ever. I get 48/50 to the gallon, it never did that before, and the acceleration is incredible. I suggest have the turbo cleaned and do those other things I mentioned. Dont go to the dealer they will rob you. They dont even consider the actuator, they will tell you they cannot do it without changing the whole thing. The actuators themselves have problems with the soldering on wiring inside. This can be fixed, there are a lot of firms that can do it. Hope this helps.
