  1. I covered my old Triumph Vitesse with a cheap cover when it sat on the patio for a couple of years. When time came to move it, I found that the cover had worn the paint off of all the high spots! Admitedly it was in a place where the wind funneled down the side of the house and blew the cover around. I'd be tempted to go for one of the covers with a fluffy, paint protecting finish on the inside, or even better, one of those 'folding garage' things where the frame keeps the cover off the bodywork. A quick google search also revealed a few options for large lined car covers.
  2. The original XK8 is way too good looking to be scrapped, unless the dreaded tin-worm really has a good hold. Mechanically or electrically they can be expensive to fix, but with the easy availability of Jaguar computer software, and the help of some of the forums, most problems can be overcome one step at a time, it just takes patience (and some ££s). Car manufacture uses something like 75% of the carbon-footprint of the lifetime of the car, so keeping one on the road is the most ecologically sound approach. (or so I seem to have convinced myself). There's always room on my driveway for another rescue attempt!
  3. I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong, but I think the process you need to reset the window end-points is as follows. It worked for me. Sit in the car (it doesn't work with the door open) ignition on. Wind the window down and then hold it down until you hear a very quiet click from inside the door, about 10 seconds at the most I seem to remember. It's a very quiet click, or I'm getting older and deafer than I thought, which is always possible. Then wind the window up until its fully closed against the frame and hold it there until you hear the little click again. That should reset the window end points. It might not cure the problem, but there again it just might. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm currently rescuing a 1999 Xk8 with all sorts of problems. I figure that lurking here is going to be more than necessary as I get into it!
