  1. Thanks for the advice Joe. I've already had an offer of £400 from a jaguar spares company. From looking at Ebay listings, I might get £600 if I'm lucky, or about the same as part of a trade-in. So, not much in it.
  2. Anyone interested in buying an 06 S-Type that has failed its MOT. Rotton sills and turbo faults, otherwise not a bad car!
  3. Thanks Joe, The trouble is, there are no Jaguar specialists anywhere near me. Plenty of ordinary garages with snap-on readers but that's it. I'm still waiting on one garage to fit both mafs but they've yet to get back to me. Viewing some Youtube videos, it looks like a job I could do myself. Am I right? All the best, Nick
  4. Hi Joe, They didn't tell me what the obd fault code was. But my car is a 2.7d with 2 mafs. I hope that helps. Cheers, Nick
  5. Been to the garage and they said it could be the Mass Air Flow Sensor. They had one in stock and tried it alternately on each side (there are two) but the warning kept coming up. They want to try changing both sensors for new ones. Do you think that will help? BTW I read that if you disconnect the wiring loom connector with the engine running, the engine should cut out if the sensor is working correctly. I tried it on mine and the engine stayed running, implying that one or both sensors are faulty. Does that sound correct?

  7. Hi Joe, I just tested the battery voltage on start up and I got a decent reading of 14.7 volts. So, perhaps it's not the battery after all?
  8. I checked the battery this morning from cold and got a reading of 11.91volt. Does that seem a bit low? The battery is a Yuasa HSB019 and is only a year old. It has a 5-year warranty.
  9. Thanks. I'll check the battery voltage first thing in the morning when the car is cold. Cheers, Nick
  10. Hi All, Does anyone know what the most common causes for the "Restricted Performance" warning are? Thanks
  11. I'm answering my own question here as I've found this video. The procedure works for the S-Type as well BUT (and I failed many times) before I realised that the whole series of (5) steps needs to be completed in less than 3 seconds! I failed because I paused between holding the reset button and turning on the ignition. After a few practice runs, I succeeded and the message was reset. If you are trying to do it and need some help, drop me a line.
  12. When I turn the ignition on I get a service reminder message that flashes up. Is there any way to turn this off?
  13. I went to three different garages to check on which wheel the ABS Sensor fault was on. I was shocked to find that one garage wanted £40.00 + vat, the second wanted £50.00 + vat, whilst the third was free and the process took less than three minutes! These prices were in addition to the parts and labour. I was interested to know if anyone has been charged more than £50.00 + vat for the use of a diagnostic tool?
  14. Why don't you phone them? In my experience ALL garages are very poor in responding to emails.
  15. You can get the Goodyear tyres from F1Autocentres. They are cheaper to buy on their website and then have them fitted at one of their centres (it's all included in the price).
  16. I personally use Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 3 tyres. I find they wear very well and are not too expensive (locally, £107.00 each, which is pretty reasonable). I know some other owners like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 but I have no experience with them.
  17. Hi Jon, I've just had all four wheels aligned and that seems to have fixed the problem. Although I need to buy two new rear tyres as they were so misaligned they had excessive tread wear!
  18. Thanks Joe. I'll get that checked out.
  19. Hi All, Today I've just noticed that my car front wheels do not straighten up smoothly after a turn or a corner. I've checked the tyres and the pressures are fine on each. The tread is excellent on both wheels. Never had any problems in the last six months, just started today. Any ideas?
  20. I've only ever locked my keys in the car once. Luckily there was a pub nearby and a kind Irish gentleman said he would open the car for £10. Sounded a bargain. When we got to the car he said turn around. I turned around for approximately 5 seconds and then he said done. The door was open. I still don't know how he did it but it's a useful tip for anyone in the same position.
  21. All four of my headlights have got water stains about halfway up the inside of the lens. It looks like the car has been through some deep water at some point before I bought it. Although the stains are not that bad, it is noticeable and I'd like to clean them up, if possible. Is there an easy way to clean the inside of the lens, or am I best leaving well alone? Cheers, Nick
  22. Thanks Chaps. Don't suppose anyone has got a Disc they want to sell? 😀
  23. I don't often use my SatNav but today I noticed it was way out of date. Is there anyway to update the maps? I don't really want to leave a CD in the changer.
  24. Could be wrong but do S-types have factory fitted front sensors? Maybe they are after market additions.
  25. Do you know if the Michelin's are asymmetric?
