  1. I know this is and old thread but I hope someone can still answer my query. Does my year 2000 S Type have any form of PATS or immobiliser ? I ask because my car will not start - all the electrics work but the starter does not function - not even a click of the solenoid. The car was left unused for several weeks and the battery discharged itself and I have been advised this could have caused an immobiliser e to function. If so how do I reset it??? Thanks Steve
  2. Thanks Jim, but I have tried that but without success. Thanks anyway Steve
  3. Jag S type 2000 3 lt. All electrics work but engine starter will not crank. Had been standing for two months but I have charged batter fully. Starter was working fine before. Earth and connections to battery seem fine (less that 0.1 ohms) I have repeatedly moved the gear lever into park to make sure cut off switch is engaged... Any advice / ideas.
  4. Can anyone advise me?? - did an S type V6 petrol of 2000 have an engine / gearbox undertray. I have been told not by a spares supplier but the underside does seem rather exposed without it and there seems to be various fastening holes on the suspension cross member. Thanks, Steve
  5. Excellent - thank Peter. I was expecting the key hole to be where one presses to open the boot - not underneath and hidden. Anyway it's open and now I can charge the battery. In fact the car is a right-off - I hit some oil on the road and made quite a mess - but I want to salvage what I can. Many thanks.
  6. Can anyone advise how to open the boot of a 2001 S type V8 Sports when the battery is flat. There is no key hole in the boot lid itself, (It has a blank disc there) and I cannot find any 'emergency' manual pull inside the car. The car is open but not the boot. Obviously I cannot get into the boot to recharge the battery!!! Any thoughts??, Steve
  7. I have just bought a rather shabby 2006 S type V6 petrol Sports. (just couldn't resist) Two questions: The right hand (offside) exhaust tail pipe is black, the left one pale. What does this indicate. In the old days it was a very rich mixture - is it possible one bank of 3 cylinders is richer than the other?? The engine runs smoothly except a slight vibration on tick-over. Also and unrelated I hope. There are lots of creaking / bubbling noised coming from below the centre of the dash board!! This is whilst running and for some time after ignition switched off. Is this something to do with the Climate Control system?? Any thoughts?? Many thanks, Steve
  8. I have only one key and fob for my 2001 S type. Can anyone advise an economical route to obtain a second key and fob?? Is programming possible on this year of car? Thanks, Steve
  9. SatNav Upgrades have just replied to say they can't help as my car is 2000 - they can only help after 2003. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. steve
  10. Thanks Peter. I will email SatNav Updates (Upgrades??) to check.
  11. I have recently bought a S type 4.0 Sports. Year 2001. The navigation system seems to work fine but I dont know if it has been updated. The disc in the drive in the boot has the Jag part number: XR83 10E898 AC and the Denso Part: 463200-5062. Can anyone advise: 1, How old is this CD? 2, How do I update it (economically!!)? 3, Has anyone fitted a new nav system into the same 'hole' in the consul as the original? Many thanks, Steve
