Russ, Firstly, have you tried the door lock / unlock switch in the centre console? Secondly, it seems as though your key fob has lost connection to your car's security system, unless, of course, both CR2032 batteries are completely dead? Keyfob can be linked to the car simply enough if you have access to the diagnostic software. However, I believe that there is another way of doing so which doesn't need software but I can't find any definitive reference.

Thanks Steve :) In fact I was wanting to use 7 by 5 because it is slightly smaller than A5 and so would fit in the document wallet easily. Looking forward to your results :)

Help... please... Basically, I want to produce a book of some of the useful Jaguar documents (Battery reset, service reset, Bluetooth pairing procedure etc.) in a size that will readily fit inside the Jaguar glovebox documents wallet, along with the handbooks, warranty documents etc. I have several A4 sized documents which I want to reduce in size to fit a notional page size of 5" x 7". I would like to have these documents print out on A4 paper, back to back (my printer does duplex) so that they then only need cutting to size. The individual 5" x 7" pages will then be spiral bound into a reference book. Basically, I want to produce a book of some of the useful Jaguar documents I have in a size that will readily fit inside the Jaguar glovebox documents wallet, along with the handbooks, warranty documents etc. Some documents are Word and some are PDF. Can anybody help please? Thanks

Steve, is it the volumetric alarm? If so, have you anything inside the car which could move, god forbid, like furry dice? ;)

Hi Dennis, the OEM bluetooth phone retro-fit compliments and works with your present audio system. Depending upon how much you pay for the combined phone / bluetooth module, it would probably cost about £100 all in for the parts and if you want, I'll fit it and set it up for you if you fancy a trip up to Wolverhampton. Once installed it will download your phone's directory so you can choose who to phone via the touchscreen. If you have Jaguar Voice fitted you can tell it who to phone by linking contacts in your directory to simple one word tags. If you don't have Jaguar Voice that can be retro-fitted as well, parts cost about £40 and again, if you're not keen, I can do that for you as well. By all means PM me if you have any questions.

This sounds very much as though the plastic coupling on the end of the servo shaft where it links to the pedal has slipped, causing the brakes to be partially on. You can probably pull the nut back at the pedal to release the brakes. It will probably go back again though when you press the brake pedal. It probably needs the plastic coupling replacing. -

Try a battery dis-connect Matt. Same thing happened to mine on one occasion and battery dis-connect sorted it out. -
I think that might be because the parent disk from which all these copies were made might have been initially setup for Belgium maybe?

Steve, it is possible that the system has defaulted to Belgium as Peter says. This sometimes happens if there has been a momentary power down. Tapping on the UK will fix that. If that doesn't work, take the disk out, with the ignition on. Then switch off the ignition. Wait for a few seconds and switch on again. When the touchscreen tells you "No Disk", insert the disk and leave the car with the ignition on, maybe helpful to have the engine running, as it can then take upwards of twenty minutes for the system to reset. From experience i'd say more likely to be five minutes though.

Can somebody please remind me how to dwitch on the auxiliary heater on the diesel? I could connect the diagnostics but if I remember correctly, there is a simple temporary connection that will fire it up. Thanks

As Joe says, taking the cover off is the final solution, as it were. You will probably see a load of horrible greyish white flaky corrosion. You could also press the powerfolding switch David and see if there is any movement of the mirrors or if you hear a click. If you are unfamiliar with the powerfold operation:- 1. Make sure the mirror adjust left / right toggle switch is in the centre neutral position. 2. Briefly press the rear edge of the round directional switch. Do this at least twice to ensure that the mirrors are synchronised.

They are designed to flod flat to the car in the event of a hard impact David. If they are powerfolds, I wouldn't recommend forcing them though, you'll possibly strip the gears. If they are non powerfold then they should fold reasonably easily.

PMU? What is that please? I think you'll probably need the services of a dealer or indy with the appropriate diagnostics software / hardware or a friendly local forum member with the kit who knows what he's doing.

This time it's the adjustable memory pedals Adjustable memory steering column seems to be quite a frequent optional upgrade on facelift S-Types but not adjustable pedals. Denis was lucky enough to drop on an S-Type for breaking which had the memory pedals so he took the opportunity to acquire the kit needed which is:- Brake pedal box Throttle pedal box Control switch As this was a retro-fit that I'd wanted from day one for the Princess, Denis found the required parts, surprisingly easily, on fleabay for me and after parting with a few quid, I had a set as well. Let me tell you, having watched poor old Denis practically break his back doing the job, fitting the pedals is NOT easy and is certainly a job I wouldn't be able to attempt with a severely arthritic hip. However, through sheer hard work and determination he managed to get his setup complete in Stacey's car. The instrument panel message centre even acknowledged the presence of adjustable pedals when the switch was operated. Unfortunately, the pedals did not move. I had a look at the circuit diagram and decided that this was not a hardware problem but was software, in as much as adjustable pedals need to be activated in the car's setup. The SDD software is by no means intuitive as to how this would be done and after several attempts I had to admit defeat. Here I'd like to acknowledge Joe's continued assistance in trying to discover the arcane mysteries of SDD. It became clear that the pedals were activated for the car in the Front Electronics Module (FEM) so Denis had the idea to recover the FEM from the donor car which had provided him with the other hardware and upon connecting the new module to Stacey's car, the pedals happily moved backwards and forwards - RESULT After Denis having gone through the backbreaking routine of fitting my pedals to the Princess, I was then in the situation of not having the linked FEM. The breaker I bought the pedals from invited us to his yard where Denis and I painstakingly connected a total of 16 FEMs to the princess and tested for pedal movement one by one... with absolutely no success whatsoever. Not an entirely wasted trip as Denis acquired a few items that he wanted but that's another story. I still hoped to get my pedals working one way or another but events overtook me a few days ago when we realised that the door mirrors on Stacey's car were not linked to the memory setup. That is to say, the steering column, pedals and seats all took up pre-defined postions upon selection of "Memory 1" or "Memory 2", but the mirors did not. I went back to the Jaguar wiring diagrams and according to them, all the mirrors had the memory feedback components built in so we assumed that they would need to be activated to the car using SDD. Unfortunately, schoolboy error, I didn't check that the battery in Stacey's car was charged, instead just connecting the battery charger as usual prior to starting an SDD session on the (mistaken) assumption that the low current trickle charge would be sufficient, not thinking that the battery would have self discharged having not been run for quite a while.. The battery failed when we were half way through the process of re-configuring the FEM in an attempt to get the mirrors working and for a few horrible minutes we both wondered whether the car would ever run again. Denis got the battery charging via jump leads from one of his other cars and I re-booted the SDD. Switching the ignition on revealed multi faults on the car. Luckily, by running the diagnostics on each indicated fault, one by one, we managed to get the car back to almost as it had been prior to the disaster. The only thing outstanding being... that the memory pedals did not work. Following the somewhat counterintuitive SDD diagnostics routine I eventually discovered how to enable the pedals, carried out the operation and we then had the memory pedals back and breathed a sigh of relief, as you might imagine. Within a few days, you will not be surprised to hear, my adjustable pedals were functioning as well. The memory mirror? Manual setting up of the FEM using SDD showed that the memory function did not differentiate between the various items of hardware and was, as you would expect, enabled. We found a few other interesting items in the FEM configuration as well. There IS a difference in memory and non-memory door mirrors, despite the singularly unhelpful wiring diagrams, and Denis managed to replace the mirror motor assembly with one from a memory equipped mirror to prove it. Yet again, my thanks go to Denis for all the work he put into getting this retro-fit to fruition.
