Thanks for the update Toni It all makes sense now. I hope you can sort it out. Would much rather see a car than a pile of bits It's a pity you aren't closer to me. I could at least put the diagnostics on and get a clue. In my (limited) experience, a great many of these security type problems can be dealt with by a software tweak. -

Toni. You have already asked this in another thread. Further, you have apparently already started breaking the car. Not at all sure what you are hoping to achieve? -
Assuming you can get the bits, the retrofit is reasonably simple Gary. You may or may not need to connect the diagnostics. I'll talk you through it if you want.

Very first thing to do Gary, is to extract the storage bin under the centre arm rest and examine the small red / black connector attached to the rear driver's side of the cavity. Let me know how many wires go to it. That will guide you as to what items you need to get. Do you have sat nav / touchscreen?

As far as I'm aware, you need to link security modules to the car using the SDD / IDS. Having given this some more thought, and looked up the DTC, it's more likely that the link between the immobilizer and the key is corrupted. Have you got a second key? Have you tried it?

Hi Toni. Is the column actually locked? Do you hear the locking pin retracting when you insert the ignition key? If you hear the locking pin retract, then all that is probably required is a reset using the IDS / SDD diagnostics. Otherwise it's the column release module (steering lock) itself which will need replacing. Cost a fortune for a new one or possibly could get on from a breakers yard but it would need setting up with the SDD / IDS. Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club BTW

Hi Julian, Welcome to the Jaguar Owner's Club. Was your mechanic aware of the precise transmission temperature range for checking the fluid level? As far as I'm aware it is of significant importance. I know that when mine was done, the temperature of the fluid was constantly checked to ensure within the parameters. Also, did he use the ZF lifeguard fluid?

No problem Marc. I don't use the disk. It is just part of my document portfolio for the car as it was the original disk. I use the 2012 version at the moment. Let me have it back when convenient.

As you say, it clearly has memory seats Gary. Does that extend to the steering column / pedals / mirrors? Further, have you checked whether it has powerfold mirrors?

It won't be of much use to you as it is a 2004 version. The system does need the disk in situ to work so you'll have to get one if using mine proves that it was your disk at fault. It's amazing what you can pick up on fleabay for £20 these days

Hi Marc, Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club Please try this, if you haven't yet:- Put the ignition on and eject the NAV DVD. Switch the ignition off and wait for a few minutes. Switch on and confirm "No disk" error. Re-insert DVD. Switch off the ignition, wait a few minutes and switch on again, allowing the Nav system to fully synch. That may have cleared the fault. If not, is the disk a genuine one? Some of the copies available on the likes of Fleabay are not very well done and throw up just this kind of fault. Some of the copied disks also default to Belgium during initial re-boot so you'll need to select UK as your location if this is the case. If still no further forward, borrow a known genuine disk from elsewhere and carry out the steps outlined above again. If you can't borrow a disk locally, let me know and I'll lend you one.

Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club Jamie, and congratulations on your new cat Manufacturer's MPG figures are always optimistic in my experience so I don't think those for the XF will be any more accurate. As with any of these beasts. I'd take any initial maintenance state with a pinch of salt and commence my own maintenance regime at "Day One". A thorough service would be my suggestion. I imagine one or two XF owners will be along soon with more specific recommendations.

As far as I am aware, that function can be set using the IDS diagnostic software Robin.
