  1. Hi Joe, Yes, slowly finding my way around I'm not sure if this was a later revision Joe, but I can switch off the panic alarm from the remote by pressing the button a further three times.
  2. OK, "dual electronic climate control moisture purge activation" What it does is to activate the heating fan if moisture is sensed in the air ducts. Basically, the heating fan runs without the ignition switched on and with the doors locked, ie, completely automatically, until the moisture content falls below a certain level. You can't switch it off. Hmm... I think not. These cars are notorious for eating battery power at the best of times.

  4. ... what a pointless pain in the arris. Still familiarizing myself with the diagnostic software I enabled passive arming. Went for a cup of tea, came back opened the door and all hell broke loose. Of course, I'd left the keys in the house. That's coming off quick sharp. Panic alarm, on the other hand, does seem a useful item
  5. My mobile air con chap says he can supply and fit a used compressor with a 6 month warranty for £265. New compressor (not OEM though) supply and fit £445

  7. Retro-fitting power folding mirrors in the early model S-Type is another easy retro-fit. Swap the mirrors, fit the switch in the driver's door pocket. That was all there is to it. Surprisingly, no requirement to replace the door control module or do any programming. Now Denis wants me to work out a way to open and close the mirrors when the car is locked / unlocked.   12. Hello John, Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. We hope you will find lots to interest you wish you the bast of luck in finding your cat. I have driven both the 2.5 and 3.0 petrol engined versions of the S-Type and I would have to say that for all round grunt (and grins) the 3.0 wins every time. However, I haven't been able to drive either on a long term basis so I'm sure my enthusiasm will be tempered by the voices of experience

  14. S-Type diesel, having just replaced rear calipers, we bled the brakes. Now, with no engine, the brake pedal is as steady and firm as a rock, which agrees with the fact that the fluid coming from the bleed nipples was, as far as we could see, perfectly clean and with no air bubbles. However, run the engine and the pedal can be pushed to the floor with only a modicum of pressure. One or two rapid pumps of the brake pedal restore the firmness of the pedal but for only a second until the same thing happens. Can anybody help please?
  15. No I don't Phil, I see precisely the point you are making, and agree that prima facie this may have been the situation. However, to put a little more meat on the bones unfortunately we had to listen to the rest of his grand-standing, patronising, arrogant, puerile attitude. His bigoted, racist and sexist remarks were directed at anybody and everybody. I'm fully aware of the use of controversial, self-denigratory humour as a coping mechanism, used it myself over the last few months in fact, and this was not it. This was just a thoroughly unlikable ignorant buffoon who seemed to be aware that his disability was a sort of passport to getting away with disgraceful behaviour in front of the fawning sycophants who were with him at their table. The word "spacker", for example is, in my view, one of the vilest of epithets, and gives an indication of the baseness of the rest of his wide-ranging discriminatory diatribe.

  17. Yes, I totally agree Andrew, but what made it worse for me was that the clown who was being nasty was clearly disabled himself. That's what I find so hard to believe, never mind accept?

  19. Unfortunatley, I'd suggest that you won't be able to get the bulbs out without dropping the overhead console. I certainly can't but I have fingers like pig's trotters.
  20. Hi Chris - welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. Firstly, silly question, did you recover all of the rubber sucker? If the overload current has been exceeded, the system will not be calibrated properly so, it would be worth resetting the window limits. Press the button to close the window fully. Press again in the upwards direction and hold for a couple of seconds. You might hear a click but not always. Then try the window down and then up. If that fails, I would be considering removing the trim panel for a proper look-see

  23. It is possible to pull out the white bulb carrier assembly after you remove the overhead console Steve. This will make bulb extraction easier but if you do so you must refit the bulb carrier with the two retaining clips. If you do not use the retaining clips and just push hthe bulb holder in to place you may never get the overhead console down again without destroying the head-lining. Been there, nearly done that. Nearly got the T-Shirt. Bulbs needed: Overhead console - - Requires two 194 bulbs - Requires one Festoon Rear overhead - - Requires one Festoon Flip down visor (1) - Don't know yet Footwells - - One 194 bulb Boot Light - - One Festoon Map light - WLED-xHP15-TAC **Bulb info above not mine.   24. Steve, To get the overhead light console down is as you did it when we installed the microphone. Then the bulbs are push fit into the white plastic bulb holder assembly.
  25. I think I would be considering a fluid change first Kenneth, as has been suggested. It is a simple but fiddly task and you absolutely MUST get the correct fluid if you have the six speed transmission which I'm assuming you do, given the MY of your car. If you can get the car off the ground you could do this yourself providing you have one of those remote temperature sensing guns, so you can monitor the transmission sump temperature.
