  1. Initially, I'd just copy some standard audio files to a stick and see if the car's system can see them David.
  2. Have you tried with a simple USB stick David, to confirm that the system is at least functioning?
  3. Hi Paul, Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club The screenwash pumps on these cars are notoriously unreliable. If you have power, as you say, then I'd expect the pump needs replacing. There are usually some available on fleabay at a lot less than an OEM item would cost. The headlamp wash pump is not quite the same as it is a high pressure pump which provides hydraulic pressure to move the jets as well as water to clean the lights. Again though, if you can confirm that you have power, I'd go with swapping the pump.
  4. As far as I'm aware David, if you have the USB connection then you just need to connect the iPhone with a standard iPhone cable.
  5. Well, I beg to differ with your indy David, but it does work. I've seen the difference it makes.
  6. Their loss I'd say David, Perhaps a local indy?
  7. That car belongs to Denis, X-Type Den on this forum. Other than the engine problem, she is a beautiful car. Being a sport it would be a shame to break her if the engine could be fixed or replaced, but that's only my opinion having seen her up close.
  8. Thanks Kevin. NICE reference
  9. Guess that'll be a NO then
  10. Most dealerships charge 30 minutes labour David, roughly £80. I would expect an indy to charge significantly less.
  11. Can anybody give me a briefing regarding using Mongoose / SDD to tell a car (S-Type) that it has had a CDC fitted so that the voice module will then be able to control it please?
  12. That sounds precisely the symptoms that the software upgrade was designed to correct David
  13. The driver's door module, as in the picture, is programmed to operate the powerfolds Malcolm. As you say, the module is behind the driver's door trim card and is obvious with the card removed. it is easily removed with three 8mm bolts or nuts if I remember correctly.
  14. You'll need a pair of powerfold mirrors, of course. Then, the best way forward, if you have a donor car is to get the driver's door electronic module and either or both of the keys. The module is a direct replacement and you need to transfer the PCB of the key(s) into your own key(s) so that they will then operate your door locking alongside the replaced powerfold programmed module. You will, of course, have to retain your original immobiliser chip(s). The whole job is risibly simple and takes less than an hour. The scariest part, for somebody with no experience, is getting the door cards off If you were to obtain the parts but were not keen on ripping your car apart, you could always turn up at the nano-meet(s) I hope to get off the ground in the near future. Alternatively you need to visit a dealer or indie to get your original powerfold module enabled (programmed) for powerfolds, in which case you only need install the mirrors. Programming modules is something I hope to be able to do when I get my head around the SDD / IDS software. If you have a donor car though it's a lot more convenient as it doesn't require any programming. The powerfold mirrors do NOT have to come from the same donor car but, clearly, the key(s) and door module must. I hope that helps?
  15. Hi Malcolm, Welcome to the JoC. If you contact your local dealer they will probably provide you with your car's original specification. As well as other interesting things it will tell you if you have powerfolds. You can get a good idea if when you operate the button, you hear a slight click, even if there is no discernible movement. Retro-fitting powerfolding mirrors is ridiculously easy
  16. Thanks Kenny. My signature picture is 264 x 165 pixels and keep original aspect ratio. Other than that I don't know what to suggest. By all means, as a moderator, have a delve around in my account settings to see if there is something you can identify that is different.
  17. If you decide to go the ACM route, give me a shout and I'll explain what is required Rodney. Same goes for anybody else who wants to do that retro-fit as well, of course.
  18. The original idea was not mine chaps and I acknowledge John Wright as the originator It does work well however. At the moment I'm using it as part of a development to enable a disabled driver to continue to use his beloved S-Type, by means of a multi function remote which will compensate for his lack of mobility in his right arm / side. If my project comes to fruition, I'll be licencing the right to use the idea from the originator.
  19. Simply stated Rodney, yes. You can use one of those FM transmitters or you can do it the OEM way which requires the use of an Audio Connection Module. This simulates the CDC and as a result can be fully integrated in the fibre optic network. It is simple to fit but ridiculously expensive to buy.
  20. Having now been given access to a suitable touchscreen and climate control module and seeing that the loom is pre- fitted at the windscreen, I'm now seriously considering this retrofit
  21. I hope you both had a great time Peter... and what better car to do those sorts of mileages.
  22. Yes. My car has it.
  23. How much did your insurance company load you for the re-map Jim?
  24. Thanks for the advice Frank, Denis and I were wondering whether it might be a glow-plug perhaps.
  25. I've been in contact with Joe and things are now clearer You NEVER stop learning when you retro-fit on these cars.
