  1. £30 was enough to prove that there was no lasting fault Tony so that was priceless
  2. Jaguar Alpine Steve, straight from donor car into mine.
  3. ... that I have premium audio in The Princess My grateful thanks go to Denis and Stacey for providing the parts and doing almost all of the fitting. Taking the parcel shelf out looked way too complex for me. Managed to modify the D2B network correctly first time as well and guess what? You DON'T need to fit modules in a specific order Had Vienna by Ultravox blasting out on the drive home. The whole job took about four hours and the ENTIRE loom was already in place, other than the D2B. I even got an electric rear blind into the bargain.
  4. Certainly it would be a "saddle bag" type tank Steve. Not sure of the fuel pump arrangement though.
  5. No low fuel warning Steve. I suspect the sender is in one side of the saddle and the pump i the other. I've since "Googled" it and can see that it is a common problem.
  6. I was in The Princess going to work this morning, outside lane of the motorway. All of a sudden, I get an amber warning light and "Fuel Pump System Fault" in the display. Fuel gauge fell to zero as well. Engine seemed to be running fine so edged over to the inside lane and slowed down, trying to control a certain sphincter muscle As the car trundled up the road, the £ signs were mounting up in my head. I remembered that I'd let the tank drop a lot lower than I normally would, just the result of events conspiring to stop me re-fuelling, so much so that the distance remaining on the fuel comoputer was down to 80 miles. I dived straight into the first garage I saw which was just off the motorway where I work and put £30 in (I would have filled her up but their prices are extorsionate). Switched on and fault cleared Clearly, something to do with the fact that the fuel tank is of saddle-bags shape. The same construction on the Rover 75 was responsible for a lot of fuel pump problems as well. I guess I'll not be running the tank down again.
  7. Neil, Have the remote fob ready to hand as you re-connect the battery. If the alarm sounds just press the unlock button. Even if you haven't sorted out your problem, it will switch off the security measures.
  8. OK Peter. Thanks. Andy, I don't have access to a camera at the moment.
  9. I imagine the nav units are the same Peter, although mine is a couple of years younger. The disks are identical according to the interrogation provided by the nav units themselves.
  10. Denis and I both have the latest sat nav disk in our respective cars but, in mine, the name of the street or road number is continuously displayed in the lower centre of the touchscreen display. It isn't there on Denis' touchscreen though I thought this was a user selectable option but having gone through all the options we can't find out how to enable it. Can anybody advise please?
  11. Thanks Joe.
  12. I used to use a Sealey hand operated vacuum pump to extract the engine oil on my R75 diesel during oil changes. The filter was readily accessible so I never had to get under the car. Now, the oil filter on The Princess, being a diesel S-Type, is right at the top of the engine between the banks but I'm now wondering whether an electric oil extraction pump would make an adequate job of extracting the sump oil. Something like THIS Has anyone had any experience of this sort of pumps in this application please? Any replies much appreciated.
  13. How wonderfuly true
  14. Welcome to the Jaguar Owners' Club Henry. That's some tidy looking work there :) S-Type owners will be seeking you out :)
  15. Just what I need Joe. Thanks
  16. Yes Joe, I'm familiar with those fuse doublers. I must have used a ton of them. Also agree the wires at the ignition switch rather too large for my purposes. Thanks to Ian for the idea Do you mean the fusebox by the driver's right ankle?
  17. ...to get permanent live, switched live and earth in the front cabin of the car please?
  18. I have to admit that it's one retro-fit I'd be a bit nervous of as well Gordon :)
  19. If you're looking for a diesel S Type, I'd give this one a wide berth if I were you. https://www.gumtree.com/p/jaguar/jaguar-/1152264959 Denis and I went to look at it today and the best that can be said is that it's a dangerous illegal car which would get you disqualified and quite possibly killed, with tyres being down to the inner carcass. As for the rest of the car, well it goes downhill from there. It has been used as a builder's van and it shows. dried concrete looks very decorative on the upholstery. There isn't a single panel that hasn't been damaged and very amateurishly bodged up. What a waste of a 200 mile trip..
  20. Got my first (and only) at the age of 57. I suspect that the car might be considered an "old man's car" because, to be fair, there are not many young men who could afford to drive one from new.
  21. I think you'll also need the touchscreen with the heated front window switch as well Gordon. I'm all for retrofitting and I'll never say never. Please let me know when you've done it
  22. Already given away Tim.
  23. Welcome to the Jaguar Owners' Club Beaves Really friendly bunch here and a fair bit of knowledge just waiting to be tapped. Your X-Type looks terrific. Hope you enjoy it.
  24. This page shows you some pictures Joe. At the moment I have no idea of the video output as I haven't received the kit. It doesn't need audio though, having a separate dedicated speaker.
