  1. Thanks Something to consider when my insurance is next due.
  2. Who are you insured with? I had the devil's own job trying to get a car with a re-map insured.
  3. The powerfolds suffer from dis-similar metal corrosion at the pivot bearing and once freed off as per Keith's advice above, can do with an occasional spray of lithium grease into the pivot (no need to remove the covers) plus operating them frequently. I know I've said this before, but having them setup to extend and retract automatically when the car is locked and unlocked really does keep them moving freely.
  4. A slight update - Some did express a kind concern. SWMBO had her first radio therapy (brachytherapy) yesterday and has taken it in her stride, as those of you who know her might imagine She was advised regarding side effects but told me, and the consultant, that she has decided not to have any, side-effects that is, and indeed it appears that, once having made that decision, her indomitable spirit has made it so Onwards and, it seems, upwards
  5. Again Vlad, I think there is a re-calibration routine that can be done by a dealer, indie, or somebody who has the Mongoose equipment.
  6. Simon, I think you muist be unlucky. The auto wipers on my S-Type work precisely as the handbook suggests. I wonder whether they need calibrating perhaps?
  7. Nice to see at last
  8. As I understand it Paul, on a car like yours, it would require a modified ECU program if you blanked the EGR valves.
  9. Hi Keith, Welcome to the JoC I got mine from a supplier on fleabay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ctek-CTE-56380-Ctek-Comfort-Indicator-Panel-Adaptor-/321962184236?hash=item4af6710e2c:g:iNgAAOSw1S9Wg6od
  10. These? https://britishparts.co.uk/products/7487-clip-XR812941 Not as cheap as I thought but not too bad Certainly not the price that idiot D1ck Turpin is asking for on fleabay.
  11. If I remember correctly, they are available from Jaguar dealers for roughly £1 each. They also come up on fleabay for less than that on a regular basis. It's just a case of spotting them Gordon.
  12. Hi Andy, Welcome to the JoC :) No it won't work on an X-Type. However, there is another, EVEN SIMPLER method employed by the X-Typers to do the same thing and it is likely to cost no more than a couple of pounds. I've PMed you a link to a fully illustrated "how-to"
  13. Hi Tony, Welcome to the club Personally, I use a Mongoose for dianostics. The Chinese clones are perfectly acceptable and the appropriate software is readily available as well. Received your PM and will action it when I get home from work.
  14. Infinitely better and more reliable than the demonic scotchlok Joe
  15. That's another 500 on their way. I wonder how long they will last? Thanks again Joe.
  16. Thanks Joe, I searched RS online but just couldn't find them. Cheers mate
  17. The image was grabbed from Rimmers Steve. However, they want to charge £5.00 per splice. When I last bought them, I paid 28p each. This splice is non specific.
  18. Well, I've finally run out of these splices because of the jobs I do on 75/ZT and Jaguars. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I got them from. I certainly don't intend to pay the prices quoted by JLR dealers etc so was wondering whether anybody had seen them for sale online please? I'm sure I bought my last batch from RS-Online but I can't seem to find them and all my previous purchase records went West when they "updated" their site. Thanks :)
  19. This morning The Princess had her first MOT since I've owned her. I do try to ensure that she is in tip-top condition of course but one can never be sure. She sailed through with flying colours. Not even an advisory. MOT tester said she was "superb" and "the best example of the S-Type I've seen in many a year" Not bad for a ten year old car approaching 140 000 miles
  20. Tony, there is a procedure to reset the anti trap function of the windows following a battery re-connection, pretty much as Andy outlined. See link below Battery reset.pdf
  21. Too big to attach to a PM I think so perhaps you would PM me a convenient e-mail address?
  22. The task is quite simple, requiring two miniature relays and five wiring connections, all within the driver's door. Please note, it is NOT the same as the method used for the X-Type and that method will not work on the S-Type. The fly in the ointment is that the S-Type wiring underwent quite a major update for the 2004 MY and as a result, the wire codes I used when fitting the mod in later MY car would have to be altered in accordance with the earlier wiring diagrams. The basic principle within the module would remain the same I expect. If anybody wants the theoretical wiring diagram and a list of parts by all means ask me. It really is is remarkably simple. Putting together the module and connecting to five wires in the door would probably take no longer than one hour in total. There is also a chap on one of the other fora who will build you the module for a very reasonable price. I used his ingenious idea on the promise that I wouldn't start supplying modules to others and I won't break my promise so please don't ask me to make a module for you
  23. P M me Peter
  24. Next to impossible to take it apart Tim. I know... I've tried But just taking the cover off provides sufficient access for your needs.
