  1. After a couple of days in use, I have to reluctantly admit that the ACM is a must for me :) Terrific sound quality and no ugly audio gaps while CDs change over. The whole of the Ring cycle, to use the example quoted above, on one playlist :) ... and I tend to favour several different recordings of the Ring, Furtwangler and Solti being amongst them. Audiobooks which flow naturally - great, and I can swap between iPod and USB if I want to and no horrible buzzy RF links. Plus it all works seamlessly with the Navigation, Jaguar Voice, phone etc :) Maybe it should have been part of the standard audio fit by 2006 though.
  2. Well, the ACM arrived today and I just idly considered how I would approach the task of fitting it and, mirabile dictu, it was fitted and working, in less than 40 minutes. Such a simple and logical installation you can't go wrong :) Well worth the effort, and, dare I say it, the money. CDs just don't have enough playing time for things like Wagner operas or audiobooks :) Welcome back old iPod friend. Pleased to say that the kit was the latest version as well, containing the upgraded D2B cable, updated iPod cable and the module itself has the latest firmware meaning the whole system is more "iPod friendly"
  3. Well... I never knew that. I'll give it a try tomorrow - thanks :)
  4. Hi all, Is it possible to get and install a safety camera poi for our sat nav please?
  5. This is probably a daft question but I've been through the handbook and can't find a solution. How do you cancel route guidance if you are in the process of a route then decide you don't want to continue? So far, all I have been able to do is allow the route guidance to continue until it decides that i have reached my destination. Thanks.
  6. I now have remotely operated folding mirrors, ie. they extend when I unlock the car and retract when I double-press the lock button. It is a really simple installation which took me less than 30 minutes and left me with an option which I think was sadly lacking in the S Type's original spec. The chap who makes the modules that do the job doesn't want his e-mail address on the forums for fear of a spam inundation but if anybody wants to do this mod just PM me and I'll send his e-mail address. No - I'm not getting commission, I just want to let people know that it can be done :)
  7. £570 from certain retailers but I got mine frm fleabay for £380.
  8. Now they extend and retract automatically as well :)
  9. Yes I have Andy :) Also, just reading the ACM user guide - you can still use the CDC. There is a switch in the centre console ACM module which allows you to select either ACM or CDC :) Happy Bunny now - even though the ACM costs silly money. I NEED my iPod ;)
  10. Thanks :) Yes it is the centre one but when I take the main engine cover off I can't see it or anything like it so need some indication as to how to access it please. Specifically, the electrical connection.
  11. The diagram I have shows it in the vee right at the back of the engine. I just can't work out how to get to it.
  12. I too shun dealers unless I absolutely have no choice, for example requiring their diagnostics facilities. I have a small garage, a one man operation, where I have had my cars maintained for many years and I have total trust in the guy. For basic maintenance and repairs I just wouldn't go elsewhere.
  13. So you can't use your CDC anymore?
  14. Hi all, I have the installation instructions for the ACM on an S Type but they provide no information on operation. I am aware that the ACM allows an iPod to be operated as if it were the CDC. Does this mean that the CDC becomes redundant please?
  15. Can somebody tell me where the fuel pressure manifold is on the diesel engine please? I know it is right at the back of the engine but when I took the main engine cover panel off I couldn't see anything like what I was looking for. Please can somebody tell me how to get to it? Thanks.
  16. OK Mike, in fact, SWMBO has just made a unilateral decision for us both, as it were. She likes the present wheels :)
  17. Thanks Mike, Not sure they'd suit my taste :)
  18. Thanks Mike, My wheels are OK, but if I end up keeping them, I'll certainly be having them refurbished so neither set in perfect condition. Can I see a picture of your wheels please? Just a general view to get an idea what they look like on a car.
  19. I rather suspect that the white fumes were a result of damp exhaust gas combined with a particularly cold day Peter. I am aware that there was a modification carried out by Jaguar but I can't dig up any info on it :(
  20. Further to this, I understand that here was a modification, free to original owners, which stopped the production of the clouds of white fumes from the aux heater. Does anybody know anything about it please?
  21. My S Type has 18" wheels as per the picture. I'd rather have 17" wheels. Anybody want to consider a swap?
  22. Yesterday being the warmest day so far this year I decided to check out the lowest temperature my climate control / air con could achieve. It managed to get to four degrees Celsius measured in the air vents. Please can anybody tell me whether this is an expected temperature? Other cars i have had get down to two degrees in the vents.
  23. So, I've just successfully connected my S Type to the SDD / IDS software version 1.39 via a clone Mongoose. Total cost of £25 :) Boy do I have a lot of reading to do though, before I even attempt to do anything with it. I don't want a bricked car. After all the horror storied I'd seen about the installation and use I was somewhat pessimistic but have to say that following the instructions, the install worked first time and the SDD connected to the car first time as well. After being well used to the T4 diagnostics for MG/R, this piece of kit seems light-years ahead. The only thing I'm not too sure on is whether to allow the software to communicate via the internet. It asks for access but I really don't want to allow it to update my software and render it inoperative. Any views on internet connection and SDD / IDS please?
