  1. Wow. Outstanding :D Thanks Andy. You chaps are so helpful on this forum. I look forward to the time when i can be of assistance to others.
  2. Having given up on linking my iPod to my S Type, I've bought a CD changer, complete with optical lead. Please can anybody tell me how to fit it? Thanks
  3. OK, Connects 2 device doesn't work with the later optical head unit so i've bitten the bullet and bought a CD changer instead. I'll just have to burn my music to CDs. Now, can anybody tell me how to fit the boot mounted CD changer in an S Type please?
  4. Kenny, the more expensive Parrots, I understand, can act as a link to the car's audio from an iPod as well. Please can I possibly see a photo of where yours is located?
  5. Doesn't a Parrot screen look out of place though Ken?
  6. OK, I spoke to my local Jaguar dealer and they say it does need "programming". "That'll be £84 plus VAT please." However, I found the following... and it works:- S Type Touchscreen hidden diagnostics pages Switch the ignition on until the touchscreen display starts. Hold the menu and phone buttons together for about 5 seconds. This presents a screen to enter the diag PIN. PIN is 917. This lets you into lots of information and a few settings for the screen. Also enables you to test the functionality of most centre console switches and functions and well as diagnose the navigation and TV systems. Follow the steps shown in above but instead of entering 917 enter in the code 1971. This will give you a more complete diagnostic screen with a very important additional button. The button is the MISC button. Press this and then press the System Options button. From here you can activate options thatyou have added to your Jag. The audio options are CDC, MDC, PHONE, VEMS, DSP, REAR, VOICE and TV. Also, you can change the System/Vehicle settings which are JP-S/W (gives you Japanese menus) or Daimler (Whatever THAT does) also you can change A/C FR, A/C RR, SMOG. You can also change the type of music device you have attached from TAPE, MD or CD. And, you can change the Nav system type between 400, 350 and 202. Switch the ignition off, wait a few seconds and switch on again. Your selections will be operative. Now, one important point is that if you don't have a particular option installed and you select it the option will appear on the display but will not function properly and will disappear once you restart the vehicle. But should you add a CD changer off eBay let’s say, you will be able to get things working properly without going to the dealer. Maybe you all knew about this but if not, it might be a useful addition to your user manuals :)
  7. I tired Vindecoderz Peter and all it gave me was the most basic info :(
  8. Does anybody know how to find a car's original specification please? I've used VIN decoders but they give a bare minimum of information. Hopefully I'd like to discover how my car was setup from manufacture. Thanks
  9. I'm an inveterate retrofitter. Having begun to get used to the toys on my S Type, I'm now considering what to add to it :D Thoughts at the moment are:- Heated seats, Garage door opener, Rear sun blind, ACM, Phone. If anybody has attempted any of these projects I'd be grateful for any information please. Also, in general terms, do you find that wiring looms for options tend to be installed at manufacture? Any views appreciated. Thanks
  10. Does anybody know please?
  11. I wasn't intending to upset anybody Peter :) As I said, such things are very subjective. There's nothing wrong with the rectangular plate, it's just that I personally would prefer the shaped one :)
  12. OK - got one for £12. That's more like it :)
  13. My car has a standard rectangular rear number plate and to be honest, it looks dreadful (my view - all such things being subjective). Halfrauds want nearly £50 for a pukka one. I can see several places on line to buy them at reasonable prices but not at all sure of their legality. Can anybody give me a link to known legal number plates which include the S-Type shaped rear one please?
  14. Hi all, My car audio doesn't have a CD changer fitted and I'm intending to use a Connects 2 device to connect my iPod. Apparently, without a CD changer being fitted, the CDC button on the audio would be inoperative. Is this true please and if so, how can I enable it? Thanks
  15. Worked like a charm Peter - thanks :D I managed it first time though.
  16. That's what I'm hoping for Peter, if nobody on the forum has a spare.
  17. Oh. I was hoping it might be achievable with an OBD reader :(
  18. Hi all, Please can somebody tell me how to reset the "service due" display in the message centre on an S Type? Thank you
  19. Thanks Kenny
  20. That was my next move Kenny. Yes please. That would be a great help. Thank you
  21. Thanks Kenny. I had explored that route locally before I posted the thread :)
  22. Hi all, With Peter's agreement, please find below, links to the official Jaguar S Type Workshop Manuals and Wiring Diagrams. They are in PDF format so easily viewable... and printable if you've enough paper ;) http://www.raistlin295.com/archive/download/jaguar/WSManual/WSManual.pdf http://www.raistlin295.com/archive/download/jaguar/Wiring/2002/S-Type%202002.5%20Elec%20Guide.pdf http://www.raistlin295.com/archive/download/jaguar/Wiring/2005/2005StypeElectrical.pdf http://www.raistlin295.com/archive/download/jaguar/Wiring/2006/2006STypeElectrical.pdf Perhaps, if found useful, a Mod could pin this thread somewhere?
  23. Thanks Martin - sorry I changed my previous post before you did the one above.
  24. In view of the ridiculous price of an ACM I'll try the Connects 2 device and see if it works first :) ACM would be OEM of course.
