  1. I guess I should have reported here as my first thread... oh well, bleatedly introducing myself. My name's Paul Now the extremely proud owner of an immaculate MY 56 S Type diesel SE. The only car that would satisfy me after years of owning Rover 75s. A superbly worthy successor and a delight to see the old Mk2 reflected in the front end styling :) Already had some terrific help from people on here, thanks all. I'm an inveterate "retrofitter" and, whilst there aren't many toys my car lacks, I'm already planning :)
  2. ... a washer bottle cap (blue) for an S type that i could buy please? I hope its OK to post a message like this in here but there doesn't seem to be a "wanted" section. Thanks
  3. Thanks Peter
  4. The battery on my S type is well past its sell-by date as it were. I have ordered a replacement. Is there anything special I need to do before replacement please? Is it worth connecting another battery in parallel to maintain memory modules, codes etc? Thanks :)
  5. David, if this only occurs when stationary, then I'd guess cooling fan problem. Was a major bugbear on Rover 75. Just a thought. If it happens when the car is moving then clearly not a fan problem.
  6. 30 minutes with WD 40 and exercising the mirrors and the powerfold mechanisms now work perfectly :) I imagine the previous owner(s) never used them as the corrosion was horrible. Fine now though. Some silicon grease sprayed on after getting them moving with WD 40 will ensure that they never fail again. Thanks for the ideas chaps :)
  7. Thanks David. I'll give that a try.
  8. I just keeps flashing this page chaps :( However, I have taken Peter's advice and downloaded one for £9.99 from emanuals.
  9. Thanks :) There is no obvious module, However the phone is finding and connecting to a bluetooth source in the car called "Jaguar" The phone was successfully used with my previous Rover 75.
  10. Can anybody help with this please? I know it has had a working bluetooth phone because the required hash codes are written on the front of the driver's handbook
  11. Linky no worky Ken?
  12. Thanks Ken. I have been trying to find a workshop manual to download or even a disc to buy on fleabay but I can't find anything :( Does anybody have a link to a workshop manual please?
  13. Thanks all :) Both mirrors attempt to move so I think it is not an electrical problem. Apparently the covers can be removed and the inside sprayed with WD40. Does that idea make sense please? How do the mirror covers come off please?
  14. I have discovered that my S Type has powerfold mirrors :) The problem is that the driver's side one clicks and the passenger side one moves but not very much. Is this a simple problem or do I need to start sourcing replacements please?
  15. Well, I finally have my S Type :) My iPhone bluetooth finds the car and connects using 1313 but when I press the telephone icon on the side of the touchscreen, it says:- "No telephone fitted" Please can somebody let me know what I have to do? Thanks
  16. Nobody uses an iPod in their S type?
  17. Hi all, It seems that my S Type will be endowed with a CD changer in the boot. I would prefer to use my iPod for my music. Is there any iPod connectivity please?
  18. Thanks Mike. Vehicle tax is like a flipping minefield :(
  19. I hadn't heard that Frank. I have to admit, the petrol engined car I had in mind was of better specification than the diesel I was considering, which was why I asked the original question :) Maybe these cars are as easy to "up-spec" as the Rover 75 is ;)
  20. £485? Er... hadn't thought of that :(
  21. Thank you Peter. I have to admit to being in somewhat of a quandry as to whether to go for the petrol or diesel model but have heard horror stories about the diesel DPF and EGR.
  22. Hi all, I'm on the cusp of buying a 06 plate 3.0 petrol S Type auto. As I understand things, (and please allow for the fact than I am an absolute Jaguar neophyte) an different six speed auto box was introduced with the advent of the diesel engined model circa 2004. Please, can anybody confirm that an 06 plate 3.0 petrol auto would have the later transmission? Thank you.
