  1. Think their something to do with cdc or the phone system. Paul will be along with his expert knowledge of the cdc/voice/Bluetooth system soon.
  2. Paul, while the facelift satnav is more than adequate the satnav fitted to the earlier cars is really dreadful. The op has 1999 in his details. The only gripe I have with the current satnav screen is the bland logo screen. The rest works perfect!!
  3. The standard brakes are well up to the job so discs n pads will be fine.
  4. Yep, way too much for discs n pads. Is that at a main dealer?? Brake jobs can be done an any garage but more technical stuff should be left to an indie or, if your rich, a main dealer!!
  5. Find a good indie garage after you've had a quote from the main dealers first. As a guide my local dealer wanted £540+vat for a cambelt change. A local indie did it for £360 INC vat!! BUT make sure they use the correct ATF fluid that jaguar recommends. Think the right price is around the £250 mark.
  6. Do a search for Bluetooth retrofit, Paul raistlin has fitted loads of stuff like that.
  7. Hi and welcome. A gearbox service certainly won't do any harm, usually around the £250 mark BUT make sure they or you put the correct jaguar recommend ATF in as "normal" ATF will wreck the box. As for the rattle, cam chain tensioners stick and give the diesel rattle you hear, normally fixed by giving an engine oil flush then a good quality oil put in. The only other things to look out for is rust, start with the sills behind the plastic covers then check very carefully the rear subframe for rust, unusually common on these cars but more prevalent on older cars. Then it's just things you would look at on a lesser car, like does everything work, aircon, heater blowing cold and hot. If it has satnav don't get excited, it's woeful and no upgrades are available. Window regulators generally snap the lugs holding the glass but repair kits are available on eBay. Aircon not working on earlier cars is almost always down to the pipe that runs by the left side of the engine as you look at it and is very expensive to buy and time consuming to replace. Sorry to paint a bad picture but some cars suffer badly from neglect while others take it in their stride. Enjoy yours and keep us updated.
  8. Think there's a screw inside the sunglasses holder.
  9. Around 25mpg is the norm for a car with a 3.0 petrol engine that weighs nearly 2tonnes !!
  10. First of all "comfort suspension " says it all. There is another setting, obtained by changing the springs which will give you a firmer ride but not as much as the sport settings. Also, tyre pressures, if I remember there's a comfort, normal and fully loaded pressure setting which will either be in the book or drivers door pillar. 16in wheels have a bit more bounce in them too, this coupled with soft tyres and comfort suspension will give a wallowy ride. Generally any worn suspension parts will give a tell tale knock over rough ground. So, check the tyre pressures are set to normal first and take it from there. I have 17 in wheels and normal suspension, according to my build sheet, and whilst the ride isn't bone jarring it's stiffer than my old 99 T reg that had 16in wheels.
  11. Read and understand the section in the owners manual regarding the regen cycle. Failure to understand it could lead to engine failure.
  12. I paid around £7 for mine off eBay. I use either dashboard or torque which both work well. You can check fuel trims, boost and such like. Worth getting a cheap one first.
  13. Definitely the regen cycle.
  14. Dodgy battery can cause a whole host of problems!!
  15. Rover, 350bhp and day to day driving in the same post. Love it!! One of the Australian Mgf owners on an mg forum I frequent posted recently about "nipping out to the doctors" 650km away!!!
  16. No noise at motorway speeds and above! I only really hear them when I accelerate from 30/40 in fourth gear, even then it's not a problem. Had them on my 3.0 petrol and they made a lovely burble when cruising about town but again, not too noisy at speed. Only put them on my diesel S type because the selling garage painted the tips of the standard pipes black!! Also there's the fact that they are virtually brand new and I only paid £75 for them!!
  17. Sor a hose pipe. Lay kitchen roll out in boot to see if it's getting in.
  18. Pop into your local ATS euromaster for a battery check. Also, is your boot floor dry? Sometimes water gets in by the rear lights and causes errors to show up. I'm still going with the battery though.
  19. My powerflow boxes haven't had any affects on my policy or power, they just look nice!! I agree with Paul, changing the boxes won't hike the hp unless induction and head work is carried out too. Just tell the company they are a stainless replacement then as soon as you can ditch the company for a more friendly one.
  20. Just had a quick glance at door handles and surrounds on eBay and it seems that the trim above the pull handle holds the door handle mech in with two bolts from inside the door. Think it's gonna be a door card off job to see if it's broke or loose.
  21. Should be bolted from the inside I would have thought.
  22. Keep us posted. I have a nice hat recipe when your ready!!
  23. Euro car parts is a good bet, probably cheaper than halfrauds.
  24. As long as it is for the jaguar S type and not an X type!! Halfrauds muppets aren't the best. Make sure the numbers match. While the batteries off hold the battery leads together as this "powers down" the car quicker and deletes any errors. ONLY WITH BATTERY OFF THE CAR!!
  25. Have you checked your battery?? Usually the first codes thrown up due to an aged battery is parkbrake and dsc fault. Do a search for jaguar s type battery for more info. These cars need a tip top condition battery to perform. I can honestly say I've never heard of the wrong wheels making limp mode activate.
