  1. Hello Mike. My 2.2d was doing the same thing. Turned out to be EGR valve. Bought a £3 blanking plate on ebay, took 5 mins to fit. Problem gone, turbo kicks in quicker, she pulls even more and no soot! The engine management light will come on but it is just a code to say that the car is not getting enough Exhaust Gas Re-circulation, nothing bad. Going to get mine remapped and have the EGR deleted from the ECU so the light goes off =). All i can say is give it a go. Better than paying £200 for a new EGR valve. John.
  2. Hello John. I am no expert but all of those codes seem electrical related. I would be temped to check a relay or wiring loom that may have all of those sensors running through. Have a look in the owners handbook or read up online. I may be totally wrong but it is just a thought. John.
  3. Nevermind turns out it was fuel filter ;). All good now.
  4. Hello everyone. Before i start digging i thought i would seek some advice from my fellow Jaguar people. My 2.2d X type has a slight flat spot during hard acceleration around 3,000 revs. There is no smoke and i cant hear any obvious hissing. I thought maybe EGR valve but i had it blanked off up until recently and it still did it then. It is only during hard acceleration, driving around normally is smooth as silk. Any ideas before i begin my adventure? Thanks. John.
  5. Never mind people. I have found a better company thanks to a thread i should have read earlier. Thanks anyway.
  6. Hello everyone. I am looking into getting my 2.2D X-Type remapped but my local performance tuning company have gave me two options; An OBD flash or a bench flash. I am not entirely sure what the difference is and which one would be more beneficial to me. I just want more pooowweerr!! ;). If anybody can enlighten me on the subject that would be great. I don't want the company to just flog me the most expensive thing they got haha! Any help would be appreciated. John.
  7. Hello Bertieboy. What exhausts did you fit because i have been dying to give my 2.2 diesel a bit of a more interesting sound. Any tips would be great. Thanks. John.
  8. Hello Fellrunner. I think basically somebody bought the wrong car so they stuck the R badge on to make themselves feel better. It would have been far less embarrassing to just by an S Type R, that is going to be my treat next year ;)! Hope that helps. John.
  9. Hello Ken. Yes it is indeed a Mondeo engine, and also a transit engine they used from the year 2000 until present. They are still putting this engine in the new Transits so it cant be bad. They call it the Duratorq zsd-422 and used it for the top-of-the-range versions of the Mondeo and X-Type. Great solid engine. I have a 2.2 Diesel X-type myself and couldnt care less that the engine is ford. The car looks great, has all the Jaguar bells and whistles, drives and looks like a Jaguar, because it is a Jaguar. Oh and not to mension that the thing pulls like a train! Hope that gives you some more information ammunition that you were looking for haha. Take care and enjoy. John.
  10. Hello Mark. Thanks very much for your information and offer of assistance. Unfortunately i am down i Southampton so would be a bit of a journey, especially if any complications were to arise half way through the job haha! But thank you very much I do appreciate the offer. I will just get my dad to give me a hand on a weekend. Sounds like it will be more beneficial to do it on the driveway. Thanks again. John.
  11. Thanks Iansan. I will maybe just dedicate a day to do the job, especially if it is only the one pulley. I hear that the upgrade kit just prevents the fault from returning in the future but by changing just one pulley the fault could return. I will get some quotes from a few places before making a decision. Thank you very much for your information.
  12. Hello everyone. I am sure this has been posted before but i will be damned if i can find it! My X-Type 2.2 D has unfortunatly gained the noisy tensioner fault on low revs and idle (even worse with the AC on!). I know i need to purchase the £200 Jaguar upgrade kit but i hear it is an animal to fit myself and i was wondering if anybody knew of a place in hampshire that could do this for me at a reasonable price? Many thanks and hope someone can help.
  13. Thanks very much. I'm sure I will have things to ask in the near future. Thanks for the welcome.
  14. Thanks frank.
  15. Thanks Peter. My dad has owned many jags but I was inspired by his 4.2 v8 S type R. It seems I have inherited his genes and am following in his steps haha.
  16. Hello people. I am a new Jaguar owner. My first Jag and first time in a club. Look forward to getting the hang of things. My name is John. Glad to be here.
