  1. recently bought a 2005 2.5l x type. 73000Miles on the clock. Just returned from holiday and had a nasty surprise; the engine temperature light came on with a warning that engine temperature high.

i have check oil levels and fluid levels, and the radiator fans seem to be spinning freely. When i start the car, the temperature is less than middle on the guage. i have checked the service history and the thermostat was replaced less than a year ago.

Put the Ac on Lo and the radiator fans came on. does this mean that the radiator fan control module and fan is ok? When i switch the car on it does not overheat. The engine fault light does stay on. it takes quite a while for the temperature to go up from start up. How do I check for partial failure of water pump such as worn water pump?
