  1. Hi joe, Iwould say Peter is correct in his diagnosis. There is an oil gallery seal in all engines on the cylinder head and it sounds like yours has failed between the oil gallery and the water jacket. Hope its not too expensive to fix. Regards, Martin.
  2. Hi Frank, Thats great information and greatly appreciated and I will make sure to get rid of any rust I find lurking there. If u can upload the pics it would be great but dont spend hours trying to do it. Thanks. Regards, Martin.
  3. Hi David, Welcome to the club from one newbie to another. I also have just bought my first jaguar which is also a xk8 but the coupe version. We may have more discussions about the xk8 in the future. Regards, Martin.
  4. Hi Frank, I think we are at cross purposes here, iam talking about the windscreen surround trim which does not fit to the door which is made from aluminium. It is in 2 halves and is painted in a shade of metallic grey. I think its clipped but am not sure. I obviously dont want to damage it getting it off. Thank you for the information anyway it may be useful in the future. Regards, Martin.
  5. Does anyone know how xk8 windscreen trim is fitted. My trims have corroded and I need to respray them and it would be easier to do off the car. Does anyone know what colour shade the metallic grey is. Thanks, Martin.
  6. Hi Clare, I am new to the club myself and can sympathise with your plight. Main dealers unfortunatly plug the car into a diagnostic machine which tells them whats wrong with the car. In your case it seems to be the wiring loom for the engine and therefore want to replace it with a new part. Its easy for them. Can I suggest that you try to get a second hand part for your car from a scrap yard. There are plenty of jaguar only scrap yards in the country and if you give them enough info on your car they could come up with the goods very quickly. This is only a suggestion and may be the quickest solution to your plight. Best of luck, Regards, Martin.
  7. Thanks Kenny, will probably need someones help at some point in the future. Good to hear from you. Martin.
  8. Just to say thank you Steve for the welcome to the club.
