  1. Hello All, I have been given these by a colleague who was clearing out his in laws garage, Father in law had a Jaguar. Thats all I know. Anyhow I have a Stype diesel so these are no good to me. some of the plugs are new, some new & a bit aged in storage ( the unipart ones) & a couple obviously use. There are some Jag branded boxes too. so if anyone would like them please let me know. I'm not looking for anything for them apart from covering postage. all the best & safe driving
  2. Hello there, I'm just coming up to a year of ownership, and finding more about the S type. She's been a bit of a mare, but not as bad as some have experienced.I guess. Firstly I had the exhaust flexi joints done, then injector seals on one bank, both to cure the exhaust smell in the cabin & and oil leak. Just over that & a non start issue, turns out a bodge fix by a previous owner who had araldited the crank sensor in place which eventually came adrfit. The latest as the title says is fuel cooler related. After spending a few quid sorting out the smell of exhaust I noticed it creeping back, but also a small patch of oil was left everywhere I parked. So after a look, I found the guilty part. I had'nt a clue as to what it was but the diesel is cooled by a flat panel under the passenger side (UK) front seat, fitted to the exterior in a gap in the undershield. This had sprung a leak, a weaping around a joint. The seeping diesel collected a lot of road debris so a mucky job. Now I have had to effect attempt repair, I have removed the cooler panel & fitted a fuel pipe link to the in & out pipes. As this is the low pressure side jubilee clips were used to secure. The history appears to be a broken wheel arch liner on the passenger side allowing debris to collect/damage the cooler or I may have bottomed out on a speed bump or is it a common problem? So anyone else suffered this, is the cooler a real requirement in our temperate GB climate. To finish on a positive she passed her MOT with only one advisory for a bush, so not all bad!
  3. Hi All, I've been scanning the forum for some info on the injectors blowing on the 2.7 turbo diesel. Mine has a bit of oil pooling around one of the injectors with a bit of puffing too. I am sure I saw a kit for the seals somewhere, but I can't find it now. I also read this is not uncommon, and can contribute to the cabin smelling which I do have from time to time, so I need to get it sorted before too long. If any one could point me in the right direction i'd be grateful. Otherwise the beasty is going well, occasional EGR codes come & go, just changed the DCCV so I have some heat, today at least. I had the flexi joints repaired just before a trip to Cornwall, about 800 miles over a long weekend with no bother. Oh the clock spring is showing off randomly, and intermittantly, must get that sorted too. She's a 2007 SE model with 76K on her. all the best
  4. Hi, does this include fitting? I had a look at my flexi's today as I have the exhaust smell coming into the cabin. The passenger side flexi is definatly gone , it's very sooty and the mesh can be moved. If you could send details of the outlet I fancy a drive. While looking I tried to suss out what it would take to fit the rigid repair, it's a bit tight up by the turbo!! Cheers Martin
  5. I stripped & cleaned my DCCV recently, due to similar probs, after re assembly tried the solenoids with test leads and a 12volt battery, center pin common, outer pins fire teh relevent solenoid. The worst part was the solenoid was either miss assembled when new or stripped sometime after, one of the sealing diaphragms was distorted, still seems ok now though. All in all about an hours work. It might be worth testing the valve with a battery before buying a replacement.
  6. Thanks for the pic's definately helps around the fuel filter area. all the best Martin
  7. Hi all, a bit of a request. I have had my S type 2.7Diesel 2007 model for a few weeks now & I have started looking around under the bonnet/Hood. There are a couple of things not right. The fuel filter is " floating, i.e. you can pick the can up a move it around, there also seems to have been some work on the right hand side engine bay, poss EGR replacement as a few things are loose around theree, the power steering reservior for one. the foil protection and sound/heat proofing on this side are also showing signs of being disturbed. Finally, and this is where I realy need some help, a vacume line from a sensor on the front of the engine which runs under the manifold was "terminated" I use that term loosly, on the manifold securing stud. i tok the line off & with the engine running there is suction there, without knowing where it should go I had to put it back on the stud. Is there anyone around in North Herts who would let me see where this line should go, I guess it has a function. Strangly after proding around in this area the EML went out next time I started the car, I only disturbed the EGR loom and this phanton vacume line? hope someone can assist. M
  8. Thanks Peter
  9. I have had the S type for a couple of weeks now, a 2007 SE Diesel, a couple of niggles need dealing with, well maybe 3, all of which have had some write ups on the forum. Firstly the excessive recirculation, sticky EGR problem, I have tried the Wynnns approach but the eml came on after 100 miles or so after resetting the code. The car has 72500 miles on her, my previous diesel, a mitsubishi had a clagged EGR at around 75000 Miles. Secondly, the heater valve, I dont have any heating, there was some to the drivers side but this looks like its gone now. a new heater control valve looks the way forward there. Aircon is fine though. Lastly the rear parking sensors. A 4 to 5 second beep when reverse is first selected, then nothing after that. So, I have been looking for a good engine bay picture/layout for the EGR's, I have done a clean up on these things on other diesels, but I understand the location is a bit tight on the S type. Any clues/tips appriciated. The heater valve doesnt seen too tricky, I would do this at the same time as the EGR's, so I would only have to drain the coolant once. Reverse sensors, any clues? I will do the ear to the bumper test tomorrow. So what damage could be done if the EGR is sticking, I dont get any black smoke under hard excelleratio, & the car goes very well, I would like better MPG but I am still enjoying 200BHP surrounded by leather. Thanks in anticipation Martin
  10. Hi All, just picked up my first Jaguar, an S type Diesel 2007 model. looks good, I think, and already made use of the EGR cleaning threads on the forum, thanks. Not my first time behind the wheel of the big cats though, i did a spell service driving for a Hertfordshire Jag/Aston dealer 10 years or so ago, so drove the X type up to Vanquish, the most awesome IMO was an S type RS manual, frighteningly quick, the XKR wonderful too. It seems I have some of the usual problems to sort out, rear parking sensors just sound for a few seconds & dont detect anything, but on the positive the cam belt has been done. It's a pale blue SE one owner after being a demo at Stratsone Warwickshire, 72000 miles. I will get some pic's sorted soon. Cheers All MN
