  1. I had the same problem. All the tyres kept going soft and i had to pump them up at least once a week. I took the car to my local garage for a MOT and service and mentioned the tyre problem to the mechanic. He said it's a common problem with old alloy wheels, so he took the tyres off and put a sealant round the rims. That was last December and I haven't had to pump the tyres up since.
  2. A few months ago I had a problem with the brakes on my 2005 S-Type 3.0. I pulled away and nothing happened when I pressed on the brake. I panicked, pressed the brake again and it worked. It's been ok since and I've had the car serviced, but it happened again yesterday. Both times the car hasn't been driven for a day. I checked the brake fluid level and it's ok. Could it be something sinister like the servo. I need to book it into a garage to get it sorted, but I'm nervous about driving it now.
  3. I didn't have any problems when I changed mine 6 months ago. You will need to the radio code and the windows and park brake will need re-calibrating. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
  4. It decode MP3 files. You have to burn the files as audio tracks to the CD so that it looks like a regular CD. My 2006 won't read CD-RW disks.

  6. I'm not sure about using the DVD from an XF. The latest one I have in my 2005 S-Type is 2011-2012. There's one going on fleabay for £19.99 at the moment.
  7. I don't get the thud, but I do have the same problem with revs shooting up before it changes down a gear and then it's not very responsive. I did read in another forum resetting the Transmission Control Module can cure it. But I haven't got round to trying it yet. It also costs around £65 to have done.
  8. I agree with Harv. If I put a shopping bag on the passenger seat the air bag light comes on to indicate there's a child in the seat and and the air bag is off. I suspect it's the same sensor may be causing the problem with your wife's hearing aid. I don't know if the sensor is ultrasonic or infrared, but if its ultrasonic it could explain why it's causing problems.
  9. The Aircon in my 2005 S-Type stops blowing cold air after about 10 mins. It starts off ok, but I get a damp smell from the air vents and then the air temp warms up. I had it re-gassed at Kwikfit, but that didn't fix it. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing it? I'm a little concerned about the damp smell.
  10. I had the same problem with mine which proved to be very expensive to resolve. I tried disconnecting the battery and performing the EPB reset which worked, however as soon as I tried to re-apply the handbrake the message came up again. I thought it might be the battery so I spent £120 on a new battery which didn't resolve the problem. A couple of weeks later I drove to my local recycling center and didn't notice the handbrake had actually applied when I took the key out of the ignition. When I went to drive off I got "Cannot release parkbrake"! and it was stuck on. I called my local Jag mechanic who took the car to the garage (for a reasonable £80). When they tried diags on the EPB module It didn't respond so the garage suggested a new module which cost me £350. When the new module was fitted it reported a faulty motor which also cost £350. I now have a working handbrake, but it cost me £900 to get it fixed.
  11. Dus, Is the actual cigar lighter or the power socket in the center console? Both fuses are in the rear fuse box next to the spare wheel: - Cigar Lighter - F56 15A Power Socket - F58 20A
  12. I couldn't find an option to allow this so I assume the CD/Radio is always muted during the satnav instructions. An alternative is to put the satnav on mute and follow the instructions as they appear on the dash, but this does mean taking your eyes off the road a lot.
  13. No, Mine is the same
