Hi everyone, hope you can help My son has an x type 2004 2,5 manual 110k fsh Yesterday he pulled off of his drive these was a bit of a bang and the car lost drive. I've had a look at it today and the car starts fine clutch pedal feels good and it selects all gears. However when you try to drive the car it will move say 3 feet then there is a grinding sound and you loose drive. When you push the car in neutral it will move reluctantly with a nasty sort of clanging sound every one or two turns of the wheels. The noise sounds as if it's coming from a fairly light metal rather than a heavy transmission or diff knock. Sorry it's a bit long winded but any advice would be appreciated before I start pulling it to bits.
