  1. Took the Jag to the garage this afternoon, and the reason for my loss of power is a split in the pipe going to the intercooler from the turbo, all the components thaught to be the cause are in great condition, can't believe I missed the oil drips coming from the bumper!
  2. That's not a bad idea at all, I'll do a bit of planning and see what I can do!
  3. Just wondering if there is going to be any meets in my county any time in the near future? Would be nice to see a convoy.
  4. Just washed the x-type! Looks gleaming!

  5. Yeah, I've got it blanked off at the moment, according to the guy who came out, it's not a real necessity to have sorted once it's blanked, I'm hoping I have some improvement when te pipe finally work all the carbon out, but I will deffinatly get some cleaner and try that too. Thanks Brian.
  6. I've got quite a few plans to try now, I'm amazed at the help I've received. So thanks very much
  7. Ah I've heard of those, thanks for the suggestion, I'm deffinatly going to give it a go. Brian
  8. Hi Frank, that's good to know, I left a thread in the owners lounge, but what's happened is I've had a total loss of power, the rac came today and put a block in the EGR I think that's what it's called and it got rid of all the white smoke I got continually and got rid of the black smoke when I put my foot hard down. There isn't any turbo problems according to the guy and it all seems in working order but it is just severely under powered, taking almost 30 seconds to hit 60, it's just lost its punch sort of speak. Do I need to wait till the carbon clears out the pipes before I see a difference? What do you think? Brian.
  9. Just to add, I don't drive th car in an erratic manor, so I know it's not because of working it too hard.
  10. I've had my 04 X-Type 2.0 Deisel for roughly 2 weeks and it's been a fantastic machine... Till Friday. Whenever I drove the car it felt very special, it had that kick, that "push back in the seat" edge. I love it. However I am not happy at this time. Friday evening, I was going to see my son, so I was preceding to overtake a slow moving car, Ironically an older gentleman in a 3.0 Petrol X-Type. I have never needed to drop a gear to overtake at all, always got me to 60 and beyond in a split second. Impresses me every time. But this time, I lost power, I managed to pass the other car, but not with ease, with great difficulty. White smoke began to pour out of my exhaust, the trail was probably visible from space... And every time I tried to hit my foot hard to the floor, it made black smoke pour from my exhaust. With a severe loss in performance. The car is supposed to have 130bhp... I estimated it was maybe running on 50bhp. I have had the RAC out today and the guy was great, had a look and checked the computer as I had no warning lights. And he said all live feeds were fine. He checked the turbo and had a look at other components and said they were in good condition and not to worry about that. So he Thaught it must of been the EGR... Or ERG... I'm not a mechanic so I forget. He has put a block in it and it is running a lot better and the smoke black and white has cleared. However it still has no power. No oomph. Feels like it's running on a 1.0 Corsa engine.. So can Any one help me? I want my car back to normal! Cheers.
  11. Hi all, I'm Brian, im new to the forum world in general, and a new jaguar owner. I've an 04 X-Type 2.0 Diesel, and it's a fantastic machine. "Based on a Mondeo" thankfully it's nothing like a Mondeo ha. I am at the moment having A slight couple of problems with the car. So I am hoping that I could get some help. But I will create a new thread for that in a minute. I'm looking forwards to speaking to likeminded people here, who respect a good modern classic motor!
