  1. Battery can SEEM ok but if its weak it will show up the faults you suggest. Alternator is what keeps the battery going, I would sort the alternator problem and fully charge the battery or replace and your gearbox fault may just disappear.
  2. jaganaut, you need to change the chip and add the new one to your original key blade, its the chip that programmes to the car not the blade
  3. If its a 2.5 or a 3.0 petrol then congratulations, You have an AWD Jaguar.
  4. Hi John I use oem petrol back boxes and Y pipe, I have been making up the 400mm or so "missing" section with a couple of flexis, It took quite a while to do the first one, I can do one now in about 3-4 hours, I am about to buy a exhaust pipe bender and flarer so I will be offering a one piece solution shortly, Subframe has to be lowered but thats the hardest bit.
  5. Could possibly have not fitted the shim/gasket at the front joint, It sits pretty much below the opening for the steering column which is quite large (saucer size) and if the seal has been disturbed it WILL let fumes in particularly when sat at lights etc
  6. Problem solved, Gazza came to see me on Sunday, Put 5 litres of new ATF in and his car is running as it should now.
  7. Get your battery tested ;)
  8. If you can find a willing pair of hands its a lot easier, I (we) did one the other week and did a de-cat at the same time we did both in about 90 mins or so, I have the tensioner tool that you can borrow if needed. If you fancy a ride to Leeds I will do it for you with your help. Mark.
  9. Think my motor is changing again!!!!!!! Just bought, sorry stole, a, and i quote "very low mileage" 06 3.0 sport premium, fully loaded inc sat nav and proteus, absolutely gorgeous thing, Can't wait to get my hands on it, The man paid 4.5k for it last year, This one is a keeper so I am going to be breaking my quite loaded estate 3.0 soon..............
  10. Why oh why can I only click like once^^^^^^^^^^^
  11. Except Petes gearbox Woody!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Hey Peter There's just no answer to that, Excellent, Just Excellent............
  13. Only thing I can think of is the 170 refers to the bhp.
  14. I don't know if you are sorted as im responding to an oldish post here, I have some of the exhaust clamps that you are asking for, Cant give you a name for em as I don't know what they are called!!! They are actually spot welded to the pipe :(
  15. Just completed a exhaust conversion/mod on a mates 2.0 diesel, I have always thought they look a bit odd with only one shiny tip at the back, Anyhow I painted and fitted an XS rear apron and then tackled the exhausts, Used a set of petrol variant back boxes and flexis, It was a bit of a faff to get everything sorted and measured out but now its done, It looks great and works great, My mate loves the sound and swears blind its a little bit quicker.
  16. There's a lot of engine under there mate....... :D :D They do kick out a lot of heat, I too am in Leeds and would be more than happy to give the car a once over for you
  17. Its quite a bit more involved than that Tim, Its an engine out job.......... If you had the facilities I would come and do it for you despite the distance........For not as much as that.
  18. Sorry mate went out before your message back, Yeah that looks like a go-er.
  19. Same box mate, I have had 2.5 engines on 3.0 boxes and vice versa, my current is 2.5 on a 3.0 engine.
  20. Woody, Get your spanners ready... :D
  21. Up and about already mate, I will be driving then, Can you call me about 10?
  22. Sorry to hear of your woes, Hard to tell without seeing it but it does sound like clutch has gone, Slave cylinders tend to go over time and you say you still have brakes, I doubt the gearbox as you can still get gears, Worst case scenario I have a known good gearbox and I also have a good dmf and clutch that have only covered 7 thousand miles, These could be ideal if you're on a budget?? (Aren't we all) I am at my unit all day from about 10am today, I can be reached on 07543756805, Unfortunately space is the issue at the moment, I have room for the car but no room in front to get the engine out and work on it. Next week would be the earliest i could get it in.
  23. Don't really have a name for mine, However I usually give the steering wheel a kiss when it gets me through a long journey without problems!!!!!!! Sad I know..
  24. Are you needles on your cluster clicking and flickering on turning the key?? Sure sign that your battery is flat/on its way out.
  25. I have seen all gears vanish, I bought a rather nice S type 3.0 last week for pennies with a supposed goosed gearbox, DSC fail showing, Limp mode on, Guy told me he was still driving it, A weak battery can throw up these faults and then the gearbox doesn't know what to do and throws a wobbly, Another semi related situation, As little as 250ml of auto transmission fluid can make the difference between having gears and none at all..................... Ps Battery voltage does sound low.
