Tim First thing I would do is check your battery............. Sounds silly I know, A weak battery will throw up gearbox fault and cruise not available, Without seeing the car I can't diagnose for definite, Might just save you a lot of heartache and money....... Shame you are so far away as I could have done the transplant for you.

Hi Gary A bit of my time ain't gonna cost you a bean, I could email a pic for you in the morning mate.
-
It is there somewhere.... ALL cars have cd changer wiring pre installed, It is a very small plug with two wires, It could be tucked out of the way but trust me it IS there. I notice you are in Yorkshire, If you want a ride to Leeds I will gladly sort it for you.
-
Not sure, I have a three plug one but not sure if it works, I will test it and get back to you. Mark.
-
That was down to his driving style though mate....
-
Hi Whateverman Is yours a single plug module or twin? I can help with the single plug one.
-
PM Iansan on this forum, He knows the procedure and has done mine for me, I just can't remember how its done, I have spare keys should you need one.
-
Only on towbar wiring!!!!!!

I had an issue with my sat nav that I retro fitted into my X type last year, It was the antennae that I fitted into the boot, Turns out it wasn't a long enough lead, I sourced an extention piece and re sited it to the parcel shelf, It solved my problem, My suggestion would be check the antennae and its location.

Yes, I believe you are correct sir, 501's

Hi Clive I have, Don't go for the cheapy 10 for a quid ones off bay of E, They start to flicker in no time, Secondly they are polarity sensitive so check they are working before plugging them back in and refitting the back covers, Lastly they can be a bit of a swine to get access to in the ns if you have hands like shovels like me!!!!!!!

Best of luck mate, I too would like to locate an old XJ6 that my Dad owned in the 70's DUA 850K, Old english white with red leather, I would love to buy it if it still exists and give it back to him before he passes, Never forgotten the plate on it.

If you need, I can source new and supply top quality second hand parts for you, Eyes seem to light up when foreign addresses are popped into the equation...........
-
I don't think you need to replace anything my friend, I suspect all you need to do is clean the filter where the pump slots into the bottle, Lock your steering/wheels on left and access the bottle behind the wheel arch liner on the drivers side, Pull the pump clear of the bottle and you will see a little rubber grommet/basket type thing in the hole, Remove this and give it a good wash and blow through, You will be surprised at the gunk in there!!!!! Pop it back in and all should be good. Mark.

Nothing biased about it mate, Little !Removed! shouldn't have had a cop car chasing him in the first place, Remember that a percentage of your insurance premium is down to w@@kers like that.

Hi Not quite sure which trim you mean but if its the waist seals you are referring to (the black strip that sits at the bottom of the window) then they just prise upwards, best done with a flat scraper, If its the bump strips on the door panels about an inch wide then they are only held on with double sided tape, There is one locating pin at one end to aid alignment, You have to be very careful not to scratch the paint on the door skin when removing these, Again a sharp bladed scraper cuts cleanly through the double sided tape but be very careful on the paintwork, If I am wrong on the trim you mean let me know and I will try and give you more answers.

Is your battery good? have you done any work recently on the car particularly near the steering column wiring, Also is your abs light on? A faulty reluctor ring can make cruise inop....
-
Hi Paul I got your PM thanks, I am helping out a mate at the moment doing long nights and have just got up from the first one.... I will give you a ring when I get a minute, Could well be next week before I will have the time to sort your car out for you.

Just had a thought, It would be very unusual for two sensors to fail at once, Are you sure these guys aren't trying to pull your pants down? And yes I have a code reader that will tell me which sensors it is.
-
Well I'm not one to take the Michael, Money is hard earned these days, I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated, Seems to get me through.... :)
-
Two sensors new are a few quid, depending which of them has gone they can be a bit of a pig to get to, I have good second hand sensors if you can find out which ones have gone, There are two different types, Up and down stream. Purely as an example I could supply and fit two good second hand for £130

Hi Kenny Its an 05 se, 130k, looks and drives half that, fsh up to 100k, Chap who owned it previously bought it at 100k and neglected the servicing, Big end bearings went so I have put a very sweet 96k miles engine and swapped out the gearbox and t box for 76k milers to be safe, completely HPI clear, Tons of toys on it, heated seats, Auto lights, wipers and electrochromatic dimming mirror, headlamp wash, park sensors, the list goes on...... Passed its MOT with no advisories, Sills are rock solid as well, I swear ebay de-value literally everything, Books at 2100 in the trade.... want 1800 for it, I thought it would have been snapped up, Although i break em it is nice to keep the odd one or two on the road especially when they are this nice but hey ho, Can't afford to have it sitting around..
-
Ah well, After three failed attempts to sell my 05 plate estate on bay of E I have decided I am going to break it, Absolutely nothng wrong with it except bubbling waist seals, Just can't get decent money for it, Shame really as its a cracking thing in lovely condition, So if anyone needs any estate bits let me know.

PS all crankshafts across the petrols are the same.

You obviously know your stuff, I can compare engines and gearboxes to see if they will marry up for you if it would help to give you answers, I have a pile of em waiting to be weighed in, A bit like me you have the know how which dramatically cuts costs, I can't give you any definitive yes or no's to your original question as I have not attempted it, I have however been asked if its a possibility by some 2.1 owners, Apart from the obvious issues I would be concerned about ECU conflicts, Having said that I have just dropped a 3.0 engine into a 2.5 car and it started straight away on a 2.5 ecu, It seems to be quite rapid,Only other thing on that one from standard is the trumpet mod.
