  1. dewillia, I did try that already, didn't cure it unfortunately. Devilcake I'll get that checked, thanks.
  2. My problem not exactly the same. My interior lights flash on and off, not all the time and possibly coincidental but seems like it happens more of if the car is carrying backseat passengers. Is this common? Is the Jag garage likely to know root cause if I take it in rather than having to fund hours of investigation work?
  3. Stick to genuine, had a pattern DPF last December had 6 months of headache. Genuine one fitted early June and no issues. Dont think Terraclean will fix blocked DPF.
  4. 750 miles in and no issues so far. Let's hope it's been put to bed.
  5. Not posted in here for a while. The last 6 months have been a nightmare with the DPF. I'm now on my third replacement, the first two (long story) it transpired were not regenerating as they were not genuine JLR. The previous were giving red alarm after only two days returned from the garage. It's now been 9 days and no issues so far. The garage has done a lot of free work trying to get it right and it looks like going for the cheap pattern was the wrong decision, they never asked by the way, just said a new one is £1100. I paid £480 last week for the difference. Car feels better than it has done since I bought it June last year. I'm hopeful it's now fixed. Trips up and down the motorway at 65 approx every 250-300 miles will be part of the owning regime going forward. Hint you can tell by the mpg display of your car is doing a regen, don't ignore it, keep it driving at as constant speed as you can on cruise until you see the mpg creeping back up, use one of the other trips to confirm. You should get into the 60's on a steady dual carriageway run. Whatever you do don't be tempted by removal
  6. A bit late but an update. I got the coins out! £1.20 trapped in the front cubby and a 50p piece sliding up and down the centre console (inside rear duct). Process is this: With a flat edged screwdriver carefully prise up the wood trim between the control panel and the centre console. This gives more space for retrieving those pesky coins. Then use a thin flat tool, I used a barbque spatula to scoop the coins out. Replace wooden trim and you're done. Centre red console a bit more involved. Firstly sitting in the back seat with the barbecue spatula carefully prise back the clips holding the vertical trim pieces of the centre console, just around the rear air ducts is enough. This will allow you to then remove the duct control unit in one go, flip it back up and over onto the arm rest area. This open up the rear duct chutes, if you have anything in there then again use a long tool, I used a wooden skewer to gather your annoying foreign object. Clip the ducting back in place, clip the trim back in place and WooHoo all done. I expect all in to take no more than 15 mins to do both.
  7. I'm using the millers additive, and shall say I mainly use Shell with only very occasional supermarket fuel.
  8. Hi Shooter, yes I wondered if the leaking / not quite right induction would be the original root cause. It certainly sounds different now, no blowing and also does sound quieter on the induction. I'm wondering if they're not telling me the full story. I'll ensure weekly or fortnightly long steady runs and keep a close ear open.
  9. Well well well, I have a 10MY 59 plate 3.0 just ticked over to 90000 miles, DPF full alarm came on in December, no Amber warning just straight to red. Just after dealer warranty ran out. Got it into the local large independent they diagnosed 89% full and gave option of deep clean or replace as regen wasn't possible. I went for a replacement part at a cost of £1100. Got the car back and for a while it was ok but then I noticed a blowing from the front of the exhaust. Booked to take it in yesterday however during the wife's journey from work after her night shift guess what? Yep the red DPF and EML light on again. They had the car yesterday and replaced the two exhaust clamps which were causing the blowing but they said there was another air leak somewhere in the induction system which they said was preventing the car doing its own regen and preventing them from doing a forced regen. There was only just above the min mark on fuel. They had the car again today (after I'd put 25 litres of fuel in last night) but couldn't find any leak, they said there was a slightly floppy turbo pipe which they have now supported (cable tie) and have also done a regen and reset with reading now at 0.1% and it feels ok to me now. I think they couldn't regen yesterday due to fuel level. The wife has an 8.5 mile journey each way to work and when the kids are at school 6 round trips a day of 2.5 miles. I can tell by the mpg reducing and the smell of the car when it's doing (or at least trying to do) a regen, I'm quite sensitive to this since December so notice the mpg reducing. My questions: Would the blowing exhaust and or dodgy turbo pipe have prevented the regen cycle from performing correctly? Taking acount of the mileage and usage how often would I need to activate the regen cycle? I know it's a boring subject for some but it's starting to turn into an obsession of mine. Thanks for suggestions / advice.
  10. Ok here's one for you. Has anyone ever activated the small centre flap on the console on an XF, while there were two coins on it, just like my son has?! I've now got an annoying noise to accompany any cornering and I don't like it. Is it easy / hard to remove this console flap/receptacle so that I can get the blasted coins out? Any tips, advice gratefully received. Christopher with a noisy XF.
  11. Hi everyone, I'm Christopher. Collected my MY10 XF 3.0 DSL on Monday, what a car, love it to bits already. I tried driving in sport and dynamic and while more exciting I did feel kind of dirty afterwards, like the car didn't deserve to be driven like that. It's D all the way for me now she deserves quiet encouragement not rip tearing around. Anyone else feel like that?
