P.S. I bought the parts from a Land Rover website - Same parts but cheaper than Jaguar listed items (£130 for both)

Hi David I have recently replaced both EGR valves on my 2.7 S type and believe me, it is not a job I would do again. The driver's side is somewhat easier than the nearside but a B***** none the less. Like you, I tried every tool in the box but eventually I resorted to releasing engine mount on the offending and jacking the engine up an inch or two. This made access a little more easier. Best of luck. Martyn

Nice one Joe. The DVD has just been changed for a brand new one. The wiring and connectors appear in good condition which is why I was somewhat confused. I'll try your suggestion this weekend. Thanks Martyn

Recently changed the heater control valve (apparently, these are notorious for causing air con problems) and had my air con re-charged but still not throwing out cold air. The passenger side dash vents throws out "cool" air but driver's side is blowing hot. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks guys Martyn

Sorry, I know nothing about it. Martyn

Hi Guys The mystery of the thick black smoke from my 2.7 S type turned out to be nothing more than a burst inter-cooler pipe feeding one of the turbo's. My thanks to everyone who contributed help and advice. Martyn

Thanks Joe. I'm pretty much of the same mind. I have booked my car into a diesel specialist here in Bristol, a company called DTM. Thanks
-
Hi Joe No fault code is showing either stored or in real time. One opinion is, an electronic turbo actuator is not working correctly or at all. I have decided to book my car into a specialist garage (DTM in Bristol) and let them trace the fault. DTM are not cheap but anything diesel, they are the guys to go to Martyn

Well guys & gals Both EGR valves have now been replaced and what a job they were. I think it will be a few weeks before the skin grows back on my hands - Not a job I would do again. Did it make any difference - NONE whatsoever. So clearly that was not the fault although in fairness, I think it was only a matter of time before the old EGR valves would have caused a problem as both caked solid and one could barely move. So what is the problem - don't know - HELP!!!! Lack of power - limp mode almost immediate (clears when engine switched off) - Thick black smoke (both exhaust pipes). Any suggestions? Martyn

Hi Mark I have checked all the info received from the suppliers of my EGR valves and there is no direct contact info to be found anywhere. The valves were purchased via ebay using the TDV6 engine as a reference point as its the same engine fitted in land/range rover as well as Jaguars but you already knew that. The company name is "top-quality-autoparts" of which there are many companies of the same name but I found by entering the name EXACTLY as I have written it in google search, it does give you the option to go straight through to their ebay site. Hope this helps Martyn

Peter Where would I rather be , in my garage cussing and cursing or in Rome Hummmm - difficult. Have a great time Martyn

Great sense of humour Carole - Like it! Martyn

Working away at the moment. As soon as I get home on Friday, I'll track down the order info and post it on the forum

Hi Peter Not started the work just yet but the right hand side (drivers side) would appear to be straight forward although somewhat fiddly but the left side would appear to be somewhere where I can brush up on my French language. Martyn
-
Thanks Carol Good advice. Will be doing job myself as soon as parts arrive - not looking forward to it but it has to be done. Martyn
-
Thank you all. Yes Peter , I did mean ERG valves (predictive text in a hurry I'm afraid)
-
That's ERG valves

Thanks guys for the info. It looks very much like one the GET valves has given up the ghost - two new ones on order. Strange thing: tried ordering for Jag £174 each. Ordered same part from a Land Rover supplier - two valves for £124. Worth bearing in mind

Driving to work the other day - everything was fine then all of a sudden, lack of power and belching out black smoke. Restricted performance on dash but remove and reinsert key and restricted performance light cleared, drive the car, not as responsive and restricted performance warning re-appears after a few seconds. OBDII fault code reader shows No Faults Stored. MAP sensor cleaned out. I'm at a loss - any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Hi Everyone In the near future, I shall be changing the propshaft centre bearing on my 2.7 diesel s type but as my car has 110,000 on the clock, I'm quite sure the flexible (jurid) couplings will be showing showing signs of wear so may be worth changing as a matter of course. Getting hold of pre-owned couplings is not really my choice of options but obtaining new ones doesn't appear as easy as I first thought. My question is: Does anyone know the part numbers of these couplings or know what other Jaguar model these coupling may be fitted to? Thanks guys

Hi Guys Finally tracked down the correct paint for my wheels, a lovely bright metallic silver which is supplied as OEM to many car manufacturers including BMW and BBS. The paint is made by WURTH, a German manufacturer but available through a British outlet via ebay. Just search WURTH silver wheel paint.

Hi Everyone I am looking to re-furbish my wheels but I cannot find a good quality bright metallic silver paint. I have bought many cans of paint for test examples but nothing is quite right. My wheels are BBS split rims and the original silver paint is absolutely perfect but I cannot match it and needless to say, BBS are no help whatsoever. Can anyone recommend a good silver metallic very bright paint colour or code to try. Thanks guys

I firmly believe that is in all car manufacturers interests to over-claim when a timing belt needs replacing. I personally never take a belt on any car beyond 40, 000 miles as it's cheaper to replace a belt than an engine

Hi stephenk Thanks for the info. Jags seem to have this battery issue right across the range and I'm a lttle fed up with it so I have decide to install a battery isolation switch instead of having to unbolt the terminals all the time.

Raistlin & Waldo Some very good info from you guys Many thanks
