The S Type in question is a different system to the 2012, 2015 & definitely 2017 version offered on eBay. It runs on a single dvd. No provision for usb.

Hi, I had a 2005 S Type and now have a 2007 XJ. Both have the same Sat Nav and unfortunately 2012 is the latest version, Jaguar or any other suppliers offer. Enjoy your S Type, I loved mine but couldn't run to having two Jags, Love the XJ as well though! Colin

Hi All I have just swapped my '05 S Type for an '07 XJ Sovereign LWB. Same 2.7 TTD engine yet despite it being an ex government car with armour, it yields better fuel consumption, just over 40mpg. Unfortunately the rear entertainment system has died along with the radio and phone, all of which were working when I picked it up. If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful. It's still a lovely car and despite the above I'm pleased with it. Thanks. Colin

If you don't mind a longish haul, E & E Services Milton Keynes. (See top of this post). I've recently moved to Yarwell East Northants and still use them. Mark & David are great guys and fully trained. They do know their stuff. They've looked after my S TYPE for nearly 8 years now.

Ken Thanks for that but I think the point being made is if something conductive touches the positive connection and either the body or negative connection no amount of fuses will protect the battery from being short circuted. Colin

Hi Paul I was positive (no pun intended) that the + terminal was covered but have just been and looked. Like yours it is covering half of it and it is under the floor carpet so unless you drop something like a wheel brace across the two it's generally no problem. So Ok, Peter's plastic & duct tape would be useful here but I still don't see the point of covering the negative connection. My wife's Corolla only has the positive covered albeit a big red piece of moulded rubber that covers all of it, and that battery is in the engine bay! Colin

Hi Peter & Paul Not sure I see the point of Peter's Heath Robinson plastic and duct tape on the negative terminal. By the way my '05 S Type has the positive covered. Back to Peter's 'fix'. The other end of the negative lead is connected to the body so in theory by both your thinkings didn't you ought to cover the whole car in plastic and duct tape?? Sorry not meaning to be rude but any 'live' wire touching the bodywork would cause a short. Anyway happy S Type motoring guys. Colin

If your battery is in good condition I'd say just leave it. Longest I've left mine was while in the US/Canada for a month. I've had my S Type 6 years, do about 6000 miles a year and never had the battery off or on charge. Cheers Colin

Hi SST I don't know if the 2007 S Type has the same as the 2005. If so select Nav Menu then on the screen select Navigation Set up then Map Version The DVD is housed behind a cover on the left side of the boot. The DVD itself will have the year on it. Try http://www.satnav-update.com £29:00 for S Type disc. Colin

Hi Mark Must admit I've not had that problem on my 2.7 Twin Turbo Diesel Sport and sincerely hope I don't! With modern cars there is not a lot you can do yourself. Often things are fixed on a PC as so much is computer controlled. When you shift into drive or reverse the revs should adjust to suit the extra load put on the engine but obviously not as much as you are experiencing. Take it back and see what they say. Meanwhile I'd pop it into neutral to be safe. Let us know how you get on as handy if anyone else gets a similar problem. I also belong to the Jaguar Drivers' Club Bedfordshire, area 17 and run our area website so any useful tips I can add would be good. Colin

Hi Welcome to the forum. If you bought the car from a dealer, I'd take it back. They should give you a limited warrenty on it. It sounds like the idle speed needs tuning. Does it rev up in neutral or park or only in drive? If you bought it privately then of course there won't be any warranty so I'd look for an independent service agent. Shame you're in Yorkshire as I know a really good one in Milton Keynes! Check the Recommended Independent Garages on this forum (Under Jaguar Owners Lounge). Best of luck Colin

Guess you found it as your last post is crossed out. It's Menu > Volume Preset. That's on an S Type but guess the X Type is similar. Colin

Have you checked the volume level in settings? It may be set on mute!

Hi Dave Found this reply re XF satnav on another forum. "The nav disc player is on the upper left side of the trunk, behind a removable felt-covered panel that you just pop out. This is shown in your manual. You then "unlock" the disc player, press the eject button, and the disc comes out. To put the new one in, the nav has to be turned on inside the car." Hi Dave On the S-Type you access the satnav DVD in the boot, left hand side. I'm guessing it's the same on an XF. As for USB problem, sorry can't help you there but I'm sure someone in the club will help. Happy XF-ing Colin

I have a 2005 S-Type sport 2.7 twin turbo Diesel and like Geoff don't do enough miles but have it serviced and M.O.T'd on it's anniversary. I also use a reputable independent. I believe there is a service warning light which after a period displays as a message. I remember reading somewhere how to reset it so if it can be reset it must occur! Can you check when it was last serviced, stamp in the service book? Enjoy the car. Colin

There are two websites that offer Satnav updates for all makes of cars. Whether or not they do CD's and cover the earlier models I don't know but could be worth enquiring. http://www.satnavi.com & http://www.satnav-update.com There may be others so you could try googling. I brought a DVD for my 2005 S Type for £34.99, from the first mentioned and can vouch for them. Enjoy your Jaguar. Colin
