Alas wrong time of the year, financially for me, but it goes to show what's out there... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-S-Type-R-4-2-V8-Supercharged-1-Surgeon-Owner-Full-JAGUAR-Main-Dealer/152162195241?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D35923%26meid%3Df0b588608bf54fe38e64e97af3a5b5a2%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D231982337651 Steve

Hi Derek hope you get that sorted out Just a quick question did you find it easy to get the sill covers off? Steve
-
Derek find your self a body shop local to you, get her booked in and see what they say, and. / or go to a jaguar main dealer but keep hold of your wallet! shame you don't have pictures Steve

I found this site, seems like a lot of different clips / hose connectors to choose from http://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?cat=0&q=Clips May be of some use to someone Steve

Many Thanks Chaps For all your invaluable advice as always Clearly something that I should avoid doing (I may not be as fortunate as Russ) so a soggy sponge and a bottle of degreaser it is then! Sorry just a quick edit I don't know if this makes a difference, but I believe the washer is rated at 1600 PSI but has two wands one is more or less a pin point flow, and the other is a wider spray Any tips on the alloy intake manifold? just looking a bit grubby Regards Steve

Hi All Looking for some do's and don'ts advice I'm convinced at some point this year we will get some summer happening at weekends, which I would like to take advantage of Anyhow just bought myself a pressure washer for various jobs, and in particular I would like to give the Engine a good scrub and degrease. are there any other obvious concerns other than covering electrical connections? I also would like to scrub the alloy intake manifold, I don't want it off the car for shot blasting, so any tips on a cleaning product or wire brush perhaps as an alternative, would help. it will be using cold water by the way As always any advice greatly appreciated Steve

Hi Chris Apologies for delayed response Unfortunately there are no particular distinguishing features specific to the Sport 200, having said that I do believe the rear spoiler is common to the model. Some other items would be an indicator of it being a Limited Edition mesh grille, sports seats, sports suspension, rear spoiler and the Sport 200 badge, but does not guarantee it. Your front bumper looks pre-facelift (triangular Fog lights) mine is the first of a couple of facelifts at the front (the guys will correct me if I'm wrong) your suspension sounds like it could be the sport setup, the wheels are smaller than mine, but it could just be the original owners choice, also yours is sounding like the basic spec, which mine is too, I don't have satnav / memory seat / lumbar adjustment / heated seats and so on, but I do have the Ski bag! which will come in handy when I'm down my caravan on the Piste! I think the simplest way to confirm what you have is drop the Jaguar heritage guys a quick e-mail, there is also a quick way of getting your build spec which may also be the Heritage guys or jag-landrover support if memory serves there may be a links to both parties in my original post Please let us know how you get on Regards Steve

Hi Adam I believe an MOT test can only inspect 'visible' areas as far as I know they do not remove any trim / covers as part of the test. However I recall a post that mentioned the sill covers being entered into the advisory section which seems a bit odd to me? I think though just for your own peace of mind having a look wont hurt, I had a quick inspection of mine earlier this year by a Body shop who works for two Jag main dealers, the guy said very clean for the year, however they did not remove the sill covers, after Pauls revelation (thankfully with a happy outcome) I am determined to remove mine soon. I have been in touch with SNG Barratt trying to find the clips, they are Held on with screws which you remove from underneath, and then some clips I believe you slide the cover to either the front or back of the car, it has been commented that they can break, so I'm trying to get some spares before I go ahead this link is very handy from JagTv they do have some quite useful / helpful vids the car they work on is an S Type 'R' Hope it helps? regards Steve

Thanks David I thought it was just me, or a very small gremlin!

Hi Amal Hopefully your car now stays fit and healthy! In Regard to the noise from the steering wheel, mine does have a slight noise almost a squeak, as if rubber is rubbing against a polished surface (I hope that makes sense?) it does not bother me one bit, as its very quiet, in fact it sounds reassuringly tight, as if brand new, the noise comes from the top of column just were the dust cover disappears under the dash Whilst on the subject of strange stuff, does anyone ever get the sensation of the accelerator pedal tapping the bottom of your foot? its intermittent, and no rhythm to it, and quite gentle, but it does feel like something is tapping the underneath of the pedal. Weird... Regards Steve

Hi Chris She looks very nice! You may well have found yourself a 'Limited Edition' only 200 cars of the 'Sport 200' range where manufactured, your build date is most likely going to be May 2003 (possibly April, as was mine) my understanding is only 2 engine sizes were part of the production 2.5 & 3.0 and only three colours Platinum (Silver) Black and BRG the optional extras of course differ according to the requirements of the original owners. I don't see the Sport 200 badge on the boot, which may or may not mean anything! as I have learnt from the helpful guys here, that some dealers did or didn't put the badges on. Have a look at this thread for some more detail and some pointers should you wish to research some more. just click on the thread title Regards Steve

Hi Peter And welcome as well. I am coming up 1 year as an S type owner (my first Jag) and I absolutely love it! I am presuming should you find one, it will be your first Jaguar? it makes me smile, with pride every time I get in or out of her and always give her a friendly little pat on the dash she has been a bit of a pain, but just like SWMBO, you have to pander to her, and some times get your wallet out! Mine does not have all the bells and whistles so cant comment on that side of things, your budget will define what you get, but I find the seats comfortable, the ride is quite stiff on mine, so can only imagine the comfort on those cars with softer suspension / larger tyres. She gets admiring glances, and cars on motorways tend to pull into the middle lane, when they see her approaching in the rear view (I kid you not) I do very little mileage, so running costs not a problem for me, £60 - ish a month for a full tank, MPG approx. 23.4 my right foot has a mind of its own.. The upshot is would I change her for another car? of course I would, but it would have a growler badge on it somewhere! Regards Steve

Hi Walter I have to admit, i'm a bit bemused by your terminology "Innocent Jaguar drivers" it would be helpful if you could give your definition please? Regards Steve

Hi Peter More than Happy to help on this, my first year of ownership is fast approaching, and would like to comment on my thoughts anyway Regards Steve and good luck with the book!

Terry i have to bring the PM conversation back into the forum, I'm trying to post some pics for you but can't seem to do it in PM mode, I'm also concerned you will damage your car unnecessarily 2 members active in this conversation (including you) Claws Read: 2 minutes ago terryh66 Read: 49 minutes ago Conversation terryh66 0 Started conversation: Tuesday at 6:31 AM · Report Morning and thanks for the reply. Again I cannot get into the car via the drivers door although I can get into the boot. The car is an 02 2.5 Ltr model. As I have said to Joe.com I inadvertently allowed the battery to go very flat whilst parked on my fathers drive (I was away) In the past I have used the key the old fashioned way as the electronic key is not working without any problems Is the answer to obtain a new electronic key do you think? Quote Claws 52 Replied: Tuesday at 7:34 AM · Report Morning Terry Im getting a little confused, does your key work in the drivers door lock So you can gain entry, or does the key not open the door anymore? If not then it sounds like your door lock is faulty, so you will have to get into the car via the boot. I presume you have now charged the car battery? Getting a new remote key fob presents its own problem, the key will need programming, as far as I understand to do that it needs to be in the ignition, as part of the programming process. I can't remember whether you mentioned putting a new battery in the key remote? Also I don't know if you're key blade is separate from the remote unit, if it's an all in one piece (like mine) you may need to get a new blade cut! I think for yourself the simplest thing to do would be to call the AA / RAC or perhaps an auto locksmith who will come out to you, and hopefully find a solution, and resolve the problem there and then. Regards Steve Quote Edit terryh66 0 Replied: 49 minutes ago · Report Morning, thanks again for the info, No, the key will not open the drivers door. The electronics for the key do not function at all (although they do on the car but NOT the key) I think I will try the boot entry way?? I do happen to have in the garage a replacement rear seat set so if I damage the seats I can replace them. I'll let you know Terry Quote Claws 52 Replied: 2 minutes ago · Report Terry your rear seats should fold down, absolutely no need to cause any damage what so ever! open you're boot and you should see two black plunger type knobs, towards the top right and left of the boot opening at the back, by the boot lid hinges! Pull them gently towards you, you should hear the slightest click, the just push the back of the rear seats into the car, they will fold down. You can just about make out the round knobs towards the hinges as I mentioned Do not damage your car or any part of it, if you're still not sure about how to solve your problem, like I mentioned previously get an Autolocksmith out Quote Edit

Got her back, clean bill of health, and no advisories attached is the emissions results, if you look at CO level compared to the pass level, excellent! HC (which I presume means hydrocarbons?) 5 when the pass level is acceptable up to 200! As the mechanic said a very good, efficient engine not sure what Lambda is?

Hi Peter He's welcome to put a flyer on my car window anytime strangely enough just been speaking to my 'caravan' neighbour who asked were my car was, anyhow long story short, he offered to take me this morning to collect her, will save about £20 in cab fares, he then told me of a garage he's been using for about 30 years, which is so much closer than the one that has the car now, so may try that one next time, why I didn't ask him before, I don't know? Hi Brandon That is such a crying shame, just a bit of carelessness has taken a fantastic car off the roads. I trust your current car gives you great enjoyment. Regards Steve
-
Peter Definitely sounds like you got your self a good mechanic there. Regards Steve
-
For what it's worth, the car looks good from pics, but I just have to add, I do about 3 - 4K a year in mine, so there are cars out there, that do that sort of mileage Steve
-
Hi Peter apolgies for delay in response (doing some digging in the garden!) hopefully they find the leak quickly for you, and it's a simple fix. just have to mention, Brockley is not a million miles from me! Unless there's another one that uses the Blackwall? Regards Steve

Good news Peter im presuming just something minor then? Had a call this morning from the garage, she has now passed the MOT they managed to free the calliper rather than the need to replace, new pads of course so cost me £40 all in (just the MOT) Happy days, will collect her tomorrow. Just on a separate note, only early days, but might of found a decent Indy, not the best of starts but, I like the setup they have, and the owner had no quibbles about working out a deal
