Approx 4 months in, findings so far (I have taken the liberty of going low, when a response has been early 30's as an example) 39 replies stating age when first purchased Total years 1,782 age group make up 70's x 3 / 60's x 2 / 50's x 8 / 40's x 15 / 30's x 6 / 20's x 4 / sub 20's x 1 Approx Average age 45.7 i'm coming up mid fifties, and I'm not going to pigeonhole what constitutes 'Old' ( not for me to say) but 45.7 does not reinforce the 'Old mans' car myth in my opinion i will update again if there is further interest Regards Steve

I suppose every cloud has a silver lining though?, she failed on a siezed brake calliper O/S/R it had no meat left on the outside pad, and had the metal just starting to rub the disc, very lucky nothing more damaged. The silver lining? I watched him (the mechanic) he was very thorough, She sailed through everything else, I was a little concerned about the emissions test as I was not convinced I had sealed the exhaust joints correctly after putting on the sports boxes, however the test results were very, very good, the mechanic said the readings were something he would expect to see from a car of 1 - 2 years old with about 20k on the clock! So overall chuffed Anyway she's hopefully getting the necessary done tomorrow or Saturday, the second part of the silver lining? the garage I took her too, last year did some work for me (replaced the AC pump) but the driver who collected her damaged the front (very slightly) which I never chased up, however today I reminded the owner of the garage, so should get something off the cost of repairs as well Steve

Hi Terence when you say you can't get into the 'machine' do you mean the car? Can you give a bit more detail about your car e.g. What year? Etc How did you manage to open the boot? If you're key worked in the boot it should work in the drivers door. your key may not be able to open remotely, but you should still be able to get in to it the good old fashioned way! I.e. Stick the key in the drivers door lock, once in then put the key in the ignition and turn to position 1 or 2 (the guys will correct me on which position) if the car recognises the key you should not get any alarm. If your key does not open the door then you have 2 different locks (or a naff key) if so, you can drop the back seats from the boot, and gain entry to the car that way. I'm now curious as to how you got the car home in the first place?

Hi Kevan It could be an anti trap sensor, try to eliminate the following, is there any crud in the window runner? give it a good clean, possibly try a lubricant of some form Fairy liquid maybe, if its binding, also try holding your hand on the glass as it starts it way up, just a light pressure to try and help it on its way, without the need to do the inch-by-inch thing (had that problem in my Omega) does the frame (the top of the door itself) look slightly out of shape? if it has the slightest twist / warp the glass will bind in the runners regards Steve

Hi Guys Has anyone seen / experienced this before? https://www.goodgaragescheme.com/ I checked a garage close to were we go at the weekends, my car is due its MOT, so I thought I would get it done this weekend, Hopefully... Anyhow they (the garage) have a 98.6% review rating from 645 customers, which isn't to shabby, then I noticed they are part of this scheme. Just wondering whether membership of it is actually worth the paper its written on? if so, it may also be a help to JOC members looking for a good Indy near them Regards Steve

Strangely enough chaps, two weekends ago I wanted the AC on and it was blowing tepid air (I had mine re-gassed last year) I let it run for a awhile, full pelt/ lowest temperature but no improvement, so turned it off and opened the windows, however, this weekend just gone, I tried again and it was icy! I do believe it should be run at least once a week? Steve

Hi David welcome to the club, I know my car is a lot older than yours, so don't know if that makes a difference or not, but very soon after I got mine, I asked a jaguar main dealer mechanic that very same question (I was going to get one from an s type that was being broken) he said basically don't try it, it's a massive job! Something to do with needing the wiring looms, running them from the boot all the way through the car , seats out, carpet up, dash apart, and so on. There are guys on here who do retro-fits for fun, so they may well laugh at the advice I received, I'm sure they'll respond soon Regards Steve
