Well I said i would clean them, took 10 minutes, below some pics Russ Sorry mate, decided to keep them, getting used to sound (slowly) and as previously mentioned there in much better Nick than the ones I took off,

Hi Andrew Always short journeys, the journey was not any longer than normal. the smaller blobs were definitely oil, dark / black in colour, the larger blob was not oily or antifreeze coloured, more dirty dishwasher water colour. The pictures I have posted are about 12 hours old, from my first observation, so of course the concrete has absorbed the drips

Checked fluid levels, coolant just below minimum, oil border line minimum, in fairness not checked for 6 months or so, clips for trim, look like they have just deteriated due to age, but no idea on how to replace, they look like they are pinned / riveted to the door

Good memories Peter, thankfully, things have moved on from those days, a little to much for me, with all the modern tech that's for sure, what ever happened to a socket set, spanners, and some feeler gauges to get things done Regards Steve

Morning All I'll try to make this brief Got to my caravan last night, after about half hour decided to move her a little further back from the road, then noticed these couple of things (pics below) firstly how on earth has this trim just decided to un-clip itself? I think someone has had a go at it, anyhow does anyone know how to fix back into place? Does it clip in, or do I have to take it all off, and slide it back on, hopefully you can see the White fittings. Secondly, I noticed fresh oil on the concrete (the smaller darker blob) there was actually two patches, but it's unlikely you can make out the other, slightly to the left of the obvious one. The larger patch seemed more liquid than oil, under the car you should just about be able to make out the larger 'stain' again this looks more liquidy than oily, I will check levels later when it gets warmer, the temperature gauge last night was absolutely fine, rock solid in the middle. Anyway I'll update on my findings a little later in regard to levels, hopefully without to much to be concerned about

Hi Andy i would think without a heated front screen option being fitted, there is no means or any other method of heating it, other than your normal defrost / heater blower. The guys will correct me of course if I'm wrong. i would think it quite safe to get your screen replaced without any concerns. I'm pretty sure my screen has the heating filaments built in, but clearly not connected up. Regards Steve

Hi Peter Breakdown warning sign, Nor me, first aid kit, an immersion heater Nor me, a style pack (don't know what that is?) and voice activated modules and voice activated controls, Nor me. Don't have heated seats, don't have memory seats, don't have lumbar support adjustment, don't have Satnav, don't have Jaguar voice (which is probably the same thing as voice activated controls ) and probably a few other things I don't have I do have the spoiler, and Ski bag / pack, (might come in handy if I ever need short lengths of timber from B&Q ) folding mirrors, Electrochromatic rear view, and of course I do have a very nice Jaguar Regards Steve

Well said Peter Regards Steve

Hi Andy I have the same year as you, and I don't have a heated front screen, I'm pretty sure they were optional, I am presuming you don't have the satnav, if you do I don't know where the button would be. image from JaguarClimateControl.com Hope this helps Regards Steve

Thanks Peter i put a link in my last post, realised the link was of no use, so I just wanted to NOT post a reply, but don't know how to delete what I started, if that makes sense?

Hi Keith What are the last 6 digits of your VIN something like M48425 Steve

Hi Tim last year I was thinking of a retro fit myself, I asked a Jaguar main dealer mechanic, he said don't do it, it's a massive job! I also believe the road map software can't be updated anymore for those units The guy's will no doubt have better information than I Regards Steve

Great site Joe some very good info and docs, to collect Thanks Steve

Can't help to much with the diesel, I had my ac compressor done last year for approx £700 supply / fit, did aux belt at same time, they collected the car, and picked me up to go and collect. The belt was Oem, the compressor was after market bearing in mind, I'm not a million miles from London, so will affect the price I would think, oh and that was an indie

Don't know yet, I'll need more time in the car before I make that decision, one thing in their favour is the look, but I can get that (or similar) with clamp on extensions on the original boxes, the other, is their condition, much better than the ones I took off
-
that could be the pipe I'm thinking of I can sleep tonight now
-
I've read many a tale about corroded pipes being an MOT failure, are you losing fluid? do you get any bubbles / movement of fluid in the tank when you press / pump the brake? this is the bit i'm a bit vague on so bear with me, is the braking system pressurised by the engine? or is it self pressurising? I have an image in my head of a black thin rigid plastic pipe coming out of the master going somewhere towards the inlet manifold (from previous cars not the Jag) I might be talking rubbish but its bugging me !
-
could it be the master cylinder / servo diaphragm or perhaps a dodgy slave cylinder? any sign of brake fluid at each wheel, along the pipes? not quite sure why it would change with the engine on?

Hi John Will this be your first Jag? I Bought mine last July (as you will see from my signature panel she's a 2003, 3.0) it is my first Jaguar, and I'm totally smitten by her I cant therefore comment on the 2.5 or any other Jag come to that! she cost me under 3k with just under 85k on the clock, she is not without some age related marks, but in good enough condition to keep me smiling that's for sure! I have spent some on her since of course. I suppose one tip would be having a look for rust around the sills / arches but I understand a lot of the problems have been sorted from 2004? the guys will give a lot more info / detail than I can. You will be doing a similar mileage to mine, I actually do less, so petrol costs are not a concern, parts are also quite reasonable, a lot of the guys would recommend finding yourself a good independent garage / mechanic rather than a main dealer, as main dealers can be quite costly. I'm sure the chaps will chip in with other advice and tips, Regards Steve Here's some pic's of my little girlie

Update Well at the weekend she had her first proper outing for an hour, since I changed the boxes, here are my thoughts so far! I mean no offence to those who have, and love their sports boxes, this is simply just my opinion about theses boxes on my car at Low speed 30 / 40 / 50 quite loud inside, sounded similar to an exhaust with a hole in it, and quite echo-ee (if there is such a word) like a hatch back without the parcel shelf in place (I understand your comment now Russ) The car did get a few heads turned I must admit. Anyway onto the motorway, higher speeds not as noticeable, you could hear the note change, when kicked down, then almost silent when just cruising. SWMBO as expected gave her opinion, she didn’t mind the extra noise??? Which I actually found quite surprising. I mentioned I was considering swapping back to the original boxes, she basically looked at me like I was stupid or something, and as they (women) quite often do, stated the obvious, the ‘New’ boxes are in much better condition than the old, so why would you do that? Anyhow there you go, not to make a drama out of it, but my first impressions, to put it in a nutshell, I think she has lost some of her finesse, she roars, rather than purr’s and I don’t know which I prefer. Again my apologies if I have offended anyone, absolutely not my intention Regards Steve
