The Only thing I could suggest, is test the market, ring around some body shops to get an idea of a ball park figure. I would guess its not going to be cheap though! Regards Steve

Hi Gordon Did you get any feedback from the RAC when they arrived?
-
Hi Paul Would definitely like to know in detail the procedures for re-programming key fobs if you don't mind but being the scaredy cat that I am, if all fails is there a plan B? e.g mobile auto locksmith to save the day, or would it mean getting her collected by a tow truck and send her to a main dealership? I have a spare fob that stopped working awhile ago, so would like to fix that if possible. Regards Steve

Thanks Joe it is the inside that I want to clean, the outside is in pretty good nick thankfully
-
Fair enough Peter, Joe, you guy's will know a lot more than me I'll give them ago Thanks Andy i get it now, I'll have to have a listen as well now Regards Steve
-
Thanks Joe I have watched quite a few clips, we're they use wire wool / Brillo pad, not trying to be a doubting Thomas here, but won't that scratch and damage the chrome and inevitably lead to the onset of rust?
-
Thanks Chaps for your comments Joe I've seen clips of the S Type 'R' with sports boxes, the sound must be awesome in 'real life' instead of listening through speakers, I couldn't find a clip of an S Type 3.0, the closest I could find was an X type 3.0 Tony thanks for the thumbs up, the beer is Aussie although it's brewed in Scotland! Andy I don't understand what you mean when you say swapping between 4th & 5th? I do have a question if you don't mind. I mentioned in the clip about cleaning the inside of the tail pipes, quite a bit of the grime / soot cleaned up, just with a sponge and car shampoo, but will need something more 'Aggressive' to completely remove it all. I bought a couple of those green plastic scouring pads you would use in the kitchen, do you think it would be okay to use on the pipes, say with chrome cleaner?
-
Got to say Simon A big thanks for getting them to me safe and sound! And the clamps you included had to be used again, I bought some that were not quite the right size, life saver. took so long because down the caravan is the only place I can do any work, Wednesday was such a beautiful day, I couldn't resist

Cheers Peter, they do compliment the 3.0, before I could hear the engine more than exhaust noise certainly not the case now! Hi Russ inititaly I did say too myself Wow! A hell of a difference that's for sure. There is a LOT more sound inside, I think the radio would cover the noise, it sounds like I'm making out the noise is horrendous, it's not, it will just take a bit of time to make that decision. I Don't want to be a boy racer, (way to old for that ) so at the moment jury is still out. I will need to have a couple of runs in her, before I decide, I thought perhaps they would be a little more subtle? I believe they will definitely turn heads SWMBO said she could hear me coming as I returned from the shop! But knowing my missus, final comment is yet to come Wheather I put the old boxes back, I don't know yet, there not in the best of Nick, I've seen worse, but the new boxes are in much better condition. I will of course let you know Russ if that happens One thing for sure, I do like the look! What do you think guys of the look?

Hi All Just thought I would share this, couldn't wait any longer for son in law (not his fault, I'm just an inpatient so and so) anyway apologies for awful videoing, I think Spielberg is safe and I somehow missed the 'S' off S Type ( if anyone knows how to correct that please let me know) as my comment states I did record how she sounded with original boxes, but pressed stop instead of pause, so had to start again my thoughts so far, the boxes do sound nice, they let you know there is a sizeable lump under the bonnet, maybe a bit to much? I don't know yet, got to give them time, not opened her up on the road as yet I will let you know, but have kept old boxes just in case! you will note I sound out of breath, that's just the effort of getting up and down with knackered knees! Any how below the YouTube link, and some pics after her scrub

Cheers Peter I'll try your suggestion Regards Steve

Hi Guys Just a quick question if you don't mind. When I fire her up (from cold) tick over is about 1500, then she settles when up to temperature, at about a fraction under 1250, is it me, or is that a tad on the high side? I noticed my MPG is about 23.2 average (I admit I drive every where in 'Sport' mode) and my journey is fixed mileage every week As always, any pointers, help much appreciated Regards Steve
-
Cheers David much appreciated Regards Steve
-
So it is, I didn't know, What a shame, could well be worth looking at fixing her, considering the condition and previous work done on her,
-
Thanks Peter I had a look, at that website 'Supernatural car care' wow, not cheap is it I use to come from Lancashire, until Merseyside was born 42 years ago today (April fools day of all days)
-

-
Many Thanks Peter, I'll have a look into it Miles What does that mean ?????

Guys What wax are you using? I'm guilty of just washing, and buffing dry. The depth of shine is actually quite stunning Steve

I had a Golden Retriever many years ago, sadly don't have any photos, but she was also a character! Walter here is a suggestion of how to protect your seats
-
Fantastic Guys, love it! Two classy ladies

Love the colour, love the wheels, absolutely love the front bumper thanks for sharing. I wish I had took the plunge a lot younger You will enjoy the JOC, if you have any concerns / questions ask away, there are some very knowledgeable guys on here. Enjoy your Jaguar! Regards Steve

Welcome Ben Any pics? Regards Steve
-
Your point is valid, and understandable. Anyway moving on from that, there are seat protectors out there, I presume you car is not the estate model?
-
Many thanks David For the tip, and welcome to the JOC. I can't picture the exact area you refer to? If you could take a photo and pop on here that would be appreciated. I know the guy's would love to see pics of the car as well Thanks again Regards Steve

Hi Walter I understand your concerns, However as you know, Bills come hand in hand with being a car owner, it doesn't matter what badge is on the car. I believe parts are generally quite reasonable, you're level of DIY skills or lack of, is where costs could be reduced, if you can't do the work then unfortunately you have to pay someone to do it for you. The guys have mentioned finding a good Indy mechanic, totally agree, I used a main dealer straight after I bought her for peace of mind, with a health check, and some work that required immediate attention, I wanted some other bits doing and the main dealer quoted numbers that made my eyes water, it was finding this forum that opened my eyes to other options and ultimately cost savings. Also I would imagine you would find a similar range of problems being discussed on other forums of other brands of car, so don't be overly concerned about the Jaguar brand. I'm a newbie to Jaguar ownership, and have already paid out money on her, but as the advert says 'She's worth it' I've got her to a place now where I'm happy, it's just about keeping her there, as the guy's say. it's a pleasure to look at her, admire her, and an honour to own and drive a Marque, not just any Marque, it's a Jaguar! Best Regards Steve
