  1. Thanks Jim I'll investigate Steve
  2. Hi All I was wondering if music on my phone would play through the audio system via Bluetooth? I downloaded three apps yesterday that allows me to listen to over 300 tracks from the 70s, 80s & 90s, so here is the start of my miserable and embarrassing lack of knowledge regarding tech so firstly a separate question, am I right in thinking that The music is not actually on my phone, but 'Out there' somewhere? I would like to copy the music to disc / USB stick. Now this is where I fall flat on my face (again) I do not get, how the setup works, but my logic tells me, if the callers voice can be heard through the car speakers then why not the music? I hope that makes sense. My car doesn't have Jaguar voice, hence the parrot system, and my phone is paired with the parrot system, which works when receiving / making calls. I tried yesterday to play music via these apps, but got nothing out of the car speakers, is it possible? Is there a setting on the parrot system that needs tweaking? Does my phone need connecting via the wiring in the central armrest? All I have is the earphone jack & the micro connector for charging etc on my phone (Samsung Android) just wanted to mention the music will not play through the phone speaker, but only the earphones, I don't know if that's important or not Apologies, if this topic has already been discussed Thanks for any advice Regards Steve
  3. many thanks Phil Its a petrol Phew!
  4. I put Dunlop on the front of mine, as the DB rating was slightly lower, than the other makes I looked at (If I can find the web page I'll pop it on here) I think it was rated at 79DB I have noticed a difference, couldn't be any worse than the rubbish that was on her that's for sure im sure this was the web site https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/search/results/245/40/18/Y
  5. Cheers Peter thats a good stear for me, I will make sure those things are checked / sorted when the mot comes around. And will ask for a note rather than a stamp be added to the service log sorry just an after thought, in regards to an oil / oil filter change any idea of the cost involved? I think, for peace of mind I would rather get that done so I know it's been done. as always appreciate your advice Steve
  6. Thanks Peter apart from wanting to know about any nasty stuff building up, that normally would be dealt with as part of a full service I.e. Oil and filter change / plugs / filters etc I'm conscious of the service book and keeping it stamped, the next stamp for a full service is due at 10 years (clearly long gone now) or 100,000 miles, which by my annual usage is nearly 4 years away! That is quite old for oil etc and that presumes the dealer actually changed the oil as a service he said was done (cough!) So I guess just interim would do then as you suggest until she gets to the 100k mark and then get a full service. What would you normally expect to get done as part of an interim service? Touch wood, she is running fine, and I have no particular concerns, it's just about maybe keeping an eye on stuff because of the low mileage
  7. I do very low mileage annually circa 3 - 4K, she sits on the road all week, occasionally at the weekend she'll get a little bit of town driving 5 minutes to shops and back, and then for approx 10 months (it's a caravan season thing!) twice a weekend it'll be motorway when she gets a good blast! So a couple of questions spring to mind, is there a risk of any unwanted deposits or something building up, that would normally be burned off on a vehicle used on a daily / regular basis? and would I only need an interim service rather than a full service ? thanks for any tips Steve
  8. Nice! I have read, it's a quality system, speakers as well I guess?
  9. Hi Paul Jaguar / alpine? Or another I do miss my CD player
  10. Cheers Paul, I'll just try and keep some motion lotion in her
  11. What a bizarre setup.. I guess that arrangement would apply to petrol models? Only once since I've had her, has the low fuel message appeared (that was the day I bought her) if the set up is the same, it may save, having to buy new trousers
  12. Phew! Have to say though, it seems like a bit of over kill, having that 'Scary' warning appear on your dash, just to tell you your fuel is low? didn't you fuel gauge pre warn?
  13. Hi Wayne You don't specify which? 'Circular' parts Red or White I Have found this, I'm making a presumption that the Red circular part is FOG lights, and the center White Circle is reverse, I also presume the rest is reflectors? cant do any better than that I'm afraid, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/rear-fog-light-Jaguar-XK-2007/151970211173?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D3005cffe97d343d988aaac092d4f31bc%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D151970211173
  14. Have you tried Reverse & Fog lights?
  15. Hi All little update, received the Heritage cert, they have discovered a couple of component numbers I didn't know, also they have identified the exact production date, a bit earlier than I though. As mentioned previously, info I have suggests May 2003 being the month of build, however, you will see, mine is April 29th, could it... just could it.... be 1 / 200 ?? there has to be a way of finding out, something on the car perhaps? a little plate / sticker or something? Anyway attached is the cert, numbers removed obviously, you don't know who trolls around the web Steve Heritage certificate numbers removed.pdf
  16. Love it! "a Jag" says it all really. However I believe one's response, to some of the youth of todays generation, should be verbalized as such "Yeah Bruv a Jag in it!"
  17. That's quite a daily commute! I would still be tempted to get the battery checked, are you a member of the AA / RAC or such like? might be worth a phone call, and explain about your intermittent park brake problem. Couldn't advise you on whether to take to a Jag Dealer or not, but if starting a new job, I would fully charge the battery a couple of days before you start, and test it each day, to see if the problem reappears, may just save you an embarrassing first day in the new job! Steve
  18. CBers I would think your battery is getting quite a battering! with those short journeys, you have quite a Lump of an engine to spin over, plus the electrical demand, heaters / windscreens / plugs, and of course the freezing weather. I presume this is the same for any car, I had been advised, it could take 40 - 45 minutes to fully to up the battery (when in the car, on a run) after it gets low, had this problem several times with my Omega during winter months. Fingers crossed, not had it with the Jag yet, but not long ago she had a good couple of hours run (1 hour each way) so you could test the battery, or take her for a day out, she'll love you for it! Steve
  19. Hi Karl i suppose first thing is any rust? Around the sills / wheel arches, (good mileage by the way for a car of her age) any advisories on last mot? Any warning lights on dash board, auto or manual? Auto, does she, snatch when changing gears. Oil leaks, smokey? When she starts? Noises? Fsh ? And so on Steve
  20. Wow! Thanks guys already, Russ I'm putting you in the 20's bracket, and 'He' was a 'She' by the way, not of course that has any baring on the comment or outcome I may have mentioned once or thirty times I owned an S Type! It's become a bit of a joke at work, maybe I should start sacking people (kidding of course) the less said about clarkson perhaps the better. I didn't know about similar topics in the USA, but of course welcome replies from our off shore friends.
  21. From the images you supplied, she looks spotless. i was going to mention storage availability and whether you could simply get a run around, because clearly, a car that could be a future classic, should not be a daily driver (that is just my personal opinion) it's easy for me to say, keep her in the garage, only you know you're requirements. A cheapy run around outside? And something of potential value safe inside? I know what I would do. I'm lucky, if mine had any potential future value, one of my contractors has access to secure warehouse / storage space, at a cost of course. It may pay dividends, if you investigated the cars history, I did that, and found out mine is a Limited Edition. I'm not an expert on your particular model, but sounds like a few questions should be asked, You never know! Do you have all the original handbooks / manuals? As she is coming up 10 years old, you may also be eligible for a certificate from the Jaguar heritage guys (only found that out by pure luck for mine) The obvious question is, is she worth more now, than you paid? Perhaps not, that's your business of course. For me, if I could afford the Space / Storage, and run another car, and keep her maintained, I would take a punt and keep her safe and sound Sorry, I should add, I was recently looking at an XJS that was in a terrible condition, but recently I stumbled across a body shop, that could do the required work to restore her, that would have been a quick turnaround, and deal with the body shop, rather than storage and wait, so again I would advise find out more about her, information may add to the resale value Steve
  22. Right, here we go. Will try and make this brief, when I mentioned to one of my contractors (last year) I have just bought a Jaguar (because I'm proud to be), the response was, "Old mans" car! (What is classed as old? I don't know, but the results will speak for themselves) this has been bugging me since. What is it with this View? Anyhow I'm wondering what is the average age of a Jaguar owner when they 'FIRST' become an owner. Results are of course limited to members of the JOC only. So I repeat when you FIRST became an owner, not your current age. Let's kick this off, I was 53. i will look at responses over a period of time and do the maths.
  23. Hi Sue are you the original owner? Does it have a FSH, What is its general condition? Any advisories on last MOT? You need to consider stuff like this, before paying for a service or getting rid. There is no guarantee your car, will be a classic, but likewise there's no guarantee buying something else / newer will turn into a classic either! Your car may already have a head start on the journey to becoming a classic, it has age! If it has provenance e.g. one owner from new, or extra options fitted, other than standard, then as I say you may already have a head start. If it's in good nick, like peter says I would also be tempted to keep. Regards Steve Ditto, Andrews comment, any pics?
  24. Cheers Gary Did you do the work yourself? I have seen this comment a few times now, it clearly suggests that carrying out this refurb of micro switches etc, means losing battery power to the fob, does NOT mean reprogramming is required. I can't see how power can be maintained while changing switches, I wish I had the skill, and rock steady hands to do it myself.
  25. So that's 6 so far, Simon's (sim Jag) Denis you have found 3 and of course our 2, on a separate note I do love the ivory leather, wish mine had it. And definitely seems to be the three choices of Colours are BRG / Black / Silver Jon one thing I don't understand is, why were the badges not put on as part of the production run, but left to the dealers? If you have a bag of badges left, you may as well sell them, however, if you have any sport 200 ones please destroy! We don't want anymore out there, it's clearly hard enough identifying legitimately described SPORT 200's Regards Steve
