Cheers Tim Thanks for the advice, i'll take a look at it, although I have all the bits and pieces ready for the work ahead, axle stands / ramps etc for the back boxes Paint brushes / paint for the engine bay bit, and of course for the chrome boot strip, at some point i'll be changing the CD / Radio you may have read my post on this topic

Apologies Jon for late reply, There are 2 engine sizes associated with the SPORT 200 (I just like typing that in caps ;) sadly I don't know what the other one is, it may well be the 2.5.! but as you say the BHP may be the confusing thing for owners / trade, I have looked at my Log book and it just uses the word 'Sport' not 'Sport 200' In regard to visual identifiers, e.g. alloys / bumpers etc, again I think your quite right, owners for one reason or another may have changed things, but would you remove the badge that, technically identifies the car as a Limited edition? (unless you've had repairs done) but wouldn't you make sure you replace the badge? if you have purposely bought a car, because it has that nice sounding 'Limited Edition' twist to it, you'd surely want people to be aware? These aren't questions for you to answer Jon, just me thinking out loud! I suppose as rule of thumb, if you can match the bumper / alloys / satnav / mesh grille / boot badge you may be looking at a SPORT 200 but of course not guaranteed. e.g. mine didn't have mesh grille or satnav, so clearly Denis's (X type Den) S type original owner, spent a few quid more than the original owner of mine. I guess in reality, from what I have learned, you could effectively say its the Badge! that's a limited edition, the car just tags along because it got stuck to one, after they were made, and again as you mentioned in a previous post, all the options are / were available to any owner of an S Type. So sadly wont be retiring to Monte Carlo anytime soon but she still is a recognized and acknowledged 'SPORT 200 Limited Edition' I have just ordered the Heritage Cert, i'll post on here, if its got anything other than the basic info like "Yes its a Jaguar!"

Elvis I have seen those instructions, but have been advised they may not work, so being on the cautious side, I will just get an auto-locksmith out, my old fob is working fine at the moment, so not in any particular rush. but appreciate trying to help Steve

Hi Tim No, nothing done yet, waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer, hopefully may / June-ish, then this and the other bits I'm doing will all be revealed! I've opted for spray paint (gloss) as I don't have very steady hands unfortunately, so will be using masking tape, which I think is going to be a bit of a pain! trying to get curved shapes, from straight edged tape, doable of course, just a bit of a faff

You don't specify what year your car is does this help? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FUEL-PUMP-IN-TANK-Jaguar-S-Type-2-5-3-0-4-2-2002-2005-/400992364064?hash=item5d5d01e620:g:YFcAAOSw4SlV8Ace

Looks very clean, BRG does look nice as well, there is also one underneath which is advertised as a sport 200 (apparently!) again without badges, and the front bumper doesn't look right.

As always Paul, our very best wishes

That's a journey and a half! some would have been written off, some fell to the dreaded rust, and scrapped, perhaps some now in another country! I know for sure I'll be keeping an eye on the badges of the S Types I see. next question, do we tell our insurers? Perhaps a limited edition adds another 1k to resale value? I've already spent over double that since I got her, so she's going nowhere, but of course the insurers would just love to increase the premium, so like I say, do we tell them? Does anyone have a parkers guide to hand? I understand that's what they (insurers) base their payouts on?

BUY IT!!! seriously though was it for sale? I told one of the guys at work, and he made an interesting comment, how many are left??

HAPPY DAYS !!! Reply from the Jaguar Heritage site Dear Mr Nichols, Your vehicle is a S-type Sport 200. The S-type Sport 200 was a factory limited edition, with 200 produced for the UK only. It had a choice of 3 exterior colours, 2 interior colours and 2 engine sizes. We do not believe any brochures were ever printed for it. It had some of the R-Performance options but not the complete package. All of the options that came as part of the Sport 200 were available to customers of "standard" S-types, except the boot badge. We would produce a heritage certificate for this vehicle as it is over 10 years old - please see the attached application form.. One Certificate shortly to be ordered!!

Many thanks Joe, appreciate the help i recognise the Topix page, but not the other? Denis Mine didn't have the mesh grille/ satnav, not sure whether that's a something I should be concerned about? I know I had a favourable reply from Jaguar but does that mean it's not a SPORT 200 but another variation? Perhaps I'm just being a tad paranoid
-
Very nice, and clean lines, Denis, I'm getting concerned about mine now, yours has the spec mentioned on that website. Oh well we'll find out soon enough
-
I notice yours has mesh grille, satnav & sport badge (mine badge is slightly lower under the S type badge) does yours have the rear spoiler ?
-
Well there you go! Just learnt something. Thanks Paul Joe last 8 characters 3FM92142 Steve

Hi Joe much appreciated, I can't find any info on the chassis number, is it part of the VIN? I do have the engine number if that's of any help? Steve
-
Denis Do you have any pics of yours? I'm now looking for absolute confirmation that the production run was limited to just 200 vehicles, it would then be interesting to find out what number ours was out of that 200. mine does not have the Satnav, nor did it have the mesh grille, they may have been optional extras that the 1st owner didn't want. if you find any more info please update us Steve

Hi Niall Welcome, any pics? Steve

Hi All Acknowledgement to a post by X Type Den (Denis) "2003 S type Limited Edition Sport 200" Who wanted some information, got me interested (Denis i hope this helps) So i have done a bit of digging! I got in touch with Jaguar, supplied my VIN and asked about my car. After several days, they responded, I asked whether my car is in fact a SPORT 200, or had someone just put on the badge, it appears its a genuine model! i also asked whether it was a limited production of just 200 vehicles, sadly no answer, however they suggested (as you will see) I contact the Jaguar heritage guys, so i'll be in contact with them shortly, and will update if i get any information. In response, I asked Jaguar this morning if they could supply my build sheet, or point me in the right direction to get it. I did manage it once, but cant for the life of remember where i found it, I have tried Topix, but without success. So perhaps the Build sheet is another avenue to investigate. On another website from 2011 (link below, does not appear to be working, but you can use Google to navigate there) i found the following, and have cut and pasted the relevant text. My car was built 12th May 2003 which fits quite nicely! Apart from feeling like an excited little kid! i now have a Zillion questions (Well okay 4 at the moment! ;) Do i have a legitimate case to stick a 'R' badge on her? perhaps not? Did i get a result with the cost of the car? and actually got one over the dealer (albeit accidentally) who could have stuck a premium on her? Should i let my insurers know? Is it just suspension, and fittings that have been tweaked, or may be something with her engine? unlikley i know. Response from Jaguar "Many thanks for raising this case - unfortunately the systems we use will list only options rather than marketing names - however we can tell you it is a factory fit 'R' performance edition with sports seats and suspension - for more information on your vehicle please try http://www.jdht.com/ if they cannot help you they will have a contact who may. Best Regards" Website, dont know how long this will be around for, it is quite old http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/08-06-2011-ThePavilionGardens-1290/2003JaguarS-Type30LitreSport200-33183.aspx There were also a number of special/limited editions, including the Sport 200 that was introduced in May 2003 and which, as the name suggests, had its production run restricted to just 200 units. The dechromed Sport models were aimed at younger buyers and the `Sport 200' combined fast looks with such hi-spec items as: SAT/NAV, 18-inch Monaco alloy wheels, multi-function steering wheel, heated front screen, rear spoiler and electrically operated boot lid etc. - See more at: http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/08-06-2011-ThePavilionGardens-1290/2003JaguarS-Type30LitreSport200-33183.aspx#sthash.wkIhnS4t.dpuf The mean-looking Sport 200 example on offer was manufactured in 2003 and finished in Black with a Black leather interior. It is powered by the 3.0-litre V6 engine mated to automatic transmission. We are informed that it has recently benefited from a change of brake discs and pads and comes complete with hand and service books - the latter showing a mix of Jaguar dealer and specialist stamps. The vendor regards the bodywork, paintwork, engine and transmission as all "good". Such well-appointed S Types make rapid, fatigue-free mile-eaters and currently represent extraordinary value for money - See more at: http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/08-06-2011-ThePavilionGardens-1290/2003JaguarS-Type30LitreSport200-33183.aspx#sthash.wkIhnS4t.dpuf
