  1. Dumb question but how can you tell whether your car is pre or post facelift? Cheers Steve
  2. thanks Paul I will start a new thread, I don't want to hijack Andy's
  3. Good luck Andy on getting the info you need Paul Thanks for the info about the information being kept by Jaguar, the modification you mention about the wing mirrors automatically folding, is that a simple Mod? Cheers Steve
  4. Hi Andy I have the same model (registered in June) I think it's all about the original owners requirements when ordering the car from new? Mine does have powered wing mirrors, I only discovered by accident! Before I found that out, I was folding them by hand. It doesn't have the memory button for seat positions, the rear view mirror has the green LED / on off switch ( Electrochromic auto anti-glare) but the LED does not illuminate when pressed, so don't know if that works, haven't driven at night yet.. Behind the rear view mount, it appears there is the rain sensor, but I don't think that works either, no pedal adjustment option on the steering column, and so on. Perhaps contacting A Jaguar dealer and providing your VIN number may help, but after 12 years would that info still be around? Steve
  5. Update! Once again guys thanks for advice, Andy, didn't drive it as you suggested got a local garage to come and collect it (low loader) apart from the bloke driving it into the steel posts that protect the back of the drivers cab!! (Crunch...Damage to front bumper, not horrendous thankfully, just waiting to get damage sorted) Anyway £700 later new AC compressor fitted, and did the belt at same time. Mechanic confirmed bearings had gone, now I can hear her in all of her glory, as Kevin Keegan once said Love it, Just Love it!!
  6. Hi Dougie Sit in your car, look at your Bluetooth settings on your phone (make sure your phone is visible to other devices) and get your phone to scan for compatible devices, I imagine it will find the Jaguar if you have it installed, (not sure if ignition needs to be on!) try with ignition on and off just in case. I did this with my phone Samsung S4. It didn't find the Jag, but I was fortunate the last owner had a Parrot system installed, which I have been told by the guys on here, is one of the best! If your phone draws a blank then unfortunately your car is not equipped with Bluetooth
  7. Hi All Further to my request for advice. I have identified the source of the rattling etc, it is the Aircon pump (extreme bottom right pulley) it does not seem to be spinning, just jerks about an inch or less and it sounds like the belt is sanding itself as it spins! Also noticed the cooling fan does not seem to kick in, I tried to spin it by hand but it,s not moving. How concerned should I be? I have got it on video but the file is to big to load I'm afraid
  8. Don I have not done this myself, and therefore cannot guarantee it works (I got a Jag dealer to do mine) but i found this it may help http://www.bluejag.co.uk/X-Type-keyfob-reprogramming.php X-Type 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0L Programming or pairing a new remote Key fob for the X Type is a very simple job that will cost a substantial amount if it is done by Jaguar. It's annoying but this may need to be done if your Key fob battery has been allowed to go flat, or the car battery has been removed for any length of time. Follow these steps exactly and you should have no problems, pairing old or replacement Key fobs for your car. 1.)I would recommended that you ensure all key fobs are fitted with new batteries. ( Click here to see battery replacement guide). 2.)Get in the car and close the drivers side door. 3.)Put the key into the ignition and turn to position I. 4.)Wait 5 seconds 5.)Turn the key quickly to position II then back to I four times. (do this only once) 6.)You should hear a single chime. 7.)Remove the Key 8.)For each Key fob in rapid succession. Press any single button on the key fob you wish to pair, you should hear a chime as each Key fob is paired with the security system. After the chime press a button on the next Key fob you wish to pair. 9.)On compleation after all keys have been programed, wait 3 minutes then check the operation of each Key fob by locking/unlocking the vehicle. Important Note :-All the fobs that you wish to use Must be paired at the same time. Every time you operate the key as in step 5 above the code will be changed, previously programmed fobs will no longer work unless you pair them all at the same time.
  9. Hi Phil It's all about the challenge! I did ask a Jag dealer for a quote to supply and fit, he said (apart from they don’t make them anymore) to get one made up £354 then labour on top! I looked around on the web and got an idea of what’s involved so I got the mesh and other bits from Adamesh, who I have to say were very helpful, the bloke (ben I think) actually called me to make sure I had ordered the right one, fortunately I had the photo of her sent it to him, and it turned out I had the wrong one! so he amended the order, and I got it the next day. I have been waiting for my hols (next week) to give it a go. if I do mess it up, I hope there will be enough time to get a new grill I know it’s an expensive punt, but.... I hope to put some before / during / after photos on here shortly
  10. My last one was an Omega V6 2.6 petrol / auto, loved it, had it for 8 years, just got to the point were i had probably bought the car twice in new parts, and she needed probaly another 1 - 1.5k spending on her for bits and pieces (body and mechanics excellent nick) anyway ended up giving it to my nephew, just to good to squash Bless her. I was looking around at all sorts including BM's, Merc's, Audi's and the Range Rover Sport (Love them) but they dont come cheap! and i just couldnt justify having a car of that value 10 - 15k sitting on the road all week, and only used at weekends. Spotted the Jag, and the rest is history as they say
  11. Here's a couple of mine before i do the Grill and Air intake, in next couple of weeks. Finger crossed, I got the mesh, just to scared to start cutting away the vertical slats, I will add again when all done
  12. Yep sounds like a deal, and the wife likes it to boot, Happy days all around :)
  13. Hi David Sounds like you got yourself a bargain there, if you dont mind me asking was she high milage as well? mine was £2,800 with just coming up to 85k
  14. Early days for me at the moment, but it's up to 24.7 MPG (96 miles round trip) i do very little around town, mainly M2 / M20 at weekends. first time i filled her £75 last time just starting to nudge red £63
  15. Read all the posts on this topic, and had to chip in with mine. Had mine for just over a month S type 200 sport V6 3.0 don’t want to leave it in the street all alone at night. Unfortunately don’t live in the best of areas, and it doesn’t help when you come back from your weekend away to find the remnants of someone’s windscreen in the road were you park, (not the first time either) Anyhow it’s my first, saw it on the web Autoxxxxxx you know the rest. Fell in love! then Saw it in the flesh, and I do believe I actually said WOW! Never thought I would be able to consider a Jaguar as a car I could afford, let alone actually own one (actually I think she owns me now, hence my user name Claws! She has hers in me) I Had to have her, I knew there was problems waiting in the wings, didn’t trust the dealer and his spiel, but I just knew she was going home with me that day.
  16. Thanks Guys For all your help and advice, much appreciated, and please forgive my lack of Tech knowledge, the last time I worked on cars, they had Distributor caps & Rotor arms! Just to reply to some comments, I will drop pressure in tyre! I only use the car every weekend (Caravan and back) so will tinker with her then, and also try to identify exactly were the noise is coming from, I have heard something similar before, almost sounds like ‘Pinking’ clearly not of course, as she is ticking over fine, at about 650 – 680 RPM. I have tried to listen for the sound whilst driving, I’m pretty sure I have heard it once or twice, through the open window, again as I said previously, it’s intermittent, and can be several seconds before you hear it again, and the noise is different at times (meaning it’s not playing the same tune over and over, if that makes sense?) if I knew how to record it and put it on this forum, I would. Oh and just for info she has Just broken 85K, with a FSH No Cd disc in player, display on screen seems correct, as I mentioned before, but won’t take disc, I had to use a pair of my missus tweezers, with a bit of blue-tac to get the disc out I pushed in, kept pushing waiting for it to take it, but never did! I may see If I can get a CD changer in the boot, instead of the single one inside, presumably not a Major job? Don’t have Sat Nav (Have the two screen gismo) was going to get one from a spares / repair job, but Jag technician, said Don't ! major job New looms etc. The last owner (I presume) removed the ashtray / lighter from behind the lid that shuts it away, and put the parrot LCD unit in there, to hide it from view I guess, I want to move it to another place, and try and find another ashtray / lighter (which I guess could be difficult considering her age?) so will take advice and stick with the Parrot system, although I think it will need a software update. Once again many thanks for advice Steve
  17. Hi All Newbie here. Just wanted to pick your brains on a few things. Had my Jag 'S' type 200 sport 03 for about a month or so, just a couple of things bothering me. I had a budget in mind for some work to be done as i was walking around the car initially (blew the budget!) new tyres / discs / pads upfront, new windscreen wiper motor / blades / arm / linkage, coded spare key / going to change the slatted grill to mesh / and install mesh to lower air intake as well / wheel badges / valve adapter and valve covers (BBS split indianapolis alloys 18") Here's the little niggling things Wheels - I pumped the rear one up Saturday the tyre says 51 psi ! is that right? i put in just under 40 Temperature gage - when up to temp after a few minutes or after / during driving, it sits rock solid at midway point am i just really lucky or can this be 'Fiddled' somehow CD - not taking disc, is it Knackered? Jag bluetooth (for phone) - the car has a parrot system installed, do i presume the car was not fitted with the Jag one, or is the parrot sytem better? Rattleing / light clanging - from front passenger side (engine bay) intermittent, does not coincide with revving engine, could this be pulley bearings / or similar? apologies for chucking all these at you in my first post Steve
