Hi Russ if memory serves, when I got the Jag, I still had my Omega, so got a short term multi car policy, the insurance company (it was either Hastings or The Insurance factory) said I had to stipulate which vehicle to associate my NCB to, The Jag of course!! but as you mentioned it may be a discretionary thing

Hi Marty Welcome to the JOC, Cant help with the codes, but from what you've mentioned, I would ask for my money back, clearly the ABS is not working, I believe hiding warning lights is illegal, and only god knows what else is not working. you are also now at fault with an RTA, did the car come with a 'NEW' Mot? regards Steve
-
Hi David that seems very, very good You better sit down, Here is what Esure quoted me, madness!! maybe they think I have 4 'S' types sitting on the drive £ 141.67 per month With 10 instalments of £ 141.67 with an initial payment of £ 269.37. Charge for credit with a fixed interest rate of 11.6%: £147.26. Total amount payable £1686.07. Includes 27.4% APR. OR a... single payment of £ 1538.81

Hi All got the quote from AdrianFlux £678 I presume that is a single payment option, they did state you could possibly get a better deal if you call, but didn't want to get into the same situation Laz did A Plan gave me a quote £494 single payment or £546 if paying in instalments, so if the quote still stands, I will be going with A Plan for the single payment option, my memory is rubbish, but if I recall, that is less than last years costs. A big thanks to all for your help Russ, cheers mate regards Steve

Returning after many years with new car

Hi Adrian Welcome also to the JOC I second Peters Comment, and have a comment of my own More Pictures Please!!!! Regards Steve -
Hi Laz I have gone direct to AdrianFlux just waiting now for a quote to come back, have received a quote from A Plan (over the phone) so not sure whether that will still be available if I go back to them. their quote is cheaper than the ones I have currently had, and offer me all the bits I need, NCB protection (9 years) / uninsured driver cover / windscreen / courtesy car / legal cover / excess is £300 and a couple of other smaller excess charges. Will post the outcome once I've received the AdrianFlux quote Regards Steve
-
just thought I would try esure, good job I was sitting down, nearly tripled cost of my other quote! waiting on a quote from A Plan
-
Totally agree Andrew the insurers, just take a punt that the customer cant be bothered to look around for a better price, and I bet there are a few out there that don't! Regards Steve
-
The words Worms, Can, opened springs to mind.... but many thanks Laz for your input, all taken on board. However not having had such an experience myself with AdrianFlux (I used them last year for my insurance) I will ask them to quote, if I can get a better quote, then so be it. Russ BINGO! I'm pretty sure it was A Plan, many thanks, that has saved me an awful lot of searching, I now believe the random conversation about insurance (last year) came up in a completely different Topic , so would have taken some finding. do I really need to disclose the rear boxes? they don't improve performance or anything I will get in touch with A Plan Many thanks again chaps for your input Regards Steve
-
thanks Paul its not direct line, i'm going to have to search all posts ive commented on I think I just done compare the market, and i'm getting better quotes already, but I know from last year, some members of JOC, are using another company (based up north iirc) that blew last years quote out of the water! but I think my postcode will also have a bearing on things Steve
-
Hi All I know this has been discussed many times, but I cant remember the name of the insurance company some use, which was a lot cheaper than I had last year! I'm getting quotes now from existing insurer of £590 one off, or £688 10 monthly payments (which is my preferred option, instalments that is, not the value!) I have a name in my mind 'A line' or something like that? any ideas please? Regards Steve

I've found a great way to save money on repair bills
Claws replied to GingerPower's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi Jamie I have that 'bolt on' on my membership for a few years now, although you may go a few years paying the extra for nothing, it has come in handy a couple of times for me, a battery £110 counter price, cost me £35, and a new part for my coolant system, supply / fit / drain - refill etc circa £200, cost me £35 definitely come in handy regards Steve -
Happy Days Gary a good feeling indeed Steve

right, over to the professionals now. mine doesn't have jag voice either, but the previous owner very kindly left the parrot system (hands free) which works for both. hopefully you will get some feedback that can help? sorry I cant help you any further (I did try though) Keep us all uptodate Good luck Phil
-
I presume you had your ignition on? if you don't have jaguar voice, then there are different options out there. can I ask what is it your trying to achieve? just phone or music or both
-
Phil Go into your Bluetooth settings, make it visible, then select scan, if you have 'Jaguar voice' it should find it Steve
-
Hi Phil the top four buttons are for your CD (possibly your Radio?) the bottom two are for your hands free phone (if you have Jaguar voice) I will stand corrected of course by the guys on here who know a dam sight more than me! Regards Steve
-
I like that Peter
-
Hi Jim and Phil Welcome to you both. As Phil has mentioned, there are some very knowledgeable folks in the JOC, they have helped me many, many times since I joined (and have been very patient as well!) Jim enjoy your car, and I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing some pics regards Steve

Hi Pete many apologies for the delayed response, a potential client of mine has dropped an office move on me on Friday morning, with about 3 weeks to complete, so frantically trying to get stuff sorted my end! Anyhow, I'm absolutely staggered that if it is an original battery its still has enough Ummph! in it to turn her over, if so, then I would think, its time for a new one!! as a starter. was the system drained completely when the new header tank was fitted? did you do it yourself or via a garage? if via a garage, then you need to take her back, if you did it yourself, I would suggest you take her to a garage, and have the coolant system drained and refilled. The remote locking could also be linked to a failing battery, no guarantees of course, but the omens seem to be pointing that way please remember, if you opt for a new battery, you most likely will need the radio code, and some of your optional settings will need to be re-programmed such as 1 touch up/down windows, drivers seat position (if you have memory fitted) and so on. I know nothing about XJ's, but the fact that your temp gauge is smack in the middle, seems to be a Good sign I would suggest. please let us know what happens next Regards Steve
-
Hi Pete although you have tried to bleed it, my gut still tells me maybe an air pocket is in there somewhere? I presume the warning was not present with your other header tank? this maybe stretching it a little, but a battery that's low on charge / knackered! can cause all sorts of probs, certainly on the 'S' types, I presume that could also apply to 'XJ's hopefully one of the guys can chip in with more help than I can offer I will be watching Regards Steve
-
hi Peter where does your temperature gauge sit when she's up to operational temp? regards Steve
-
Hi Keith So it was the speed sensor then? either way glad you got it sorted regards Steve
-
Hi Russ Could you remove the rear seat, and then possibly remove the door card? just a thought regards Steve
