Hi All, been searching for a very annoying rattle on rear suspension for quite a while. Local garage checked it out again and still couldnt find anything. Went in for mot and all passed ok with no advisories. In desperation we changed the rear anti roll bar and drop link bushes and just to be sure we did the front as well. Now ok and back to being quiet and no rattles and not expensive, Less than £200. Cheers Rod

Hi We are moving house and need to find a new home for my collection of Motor Sport magazines. There are approx 200 copies covering about 20 years. These are free to anyone who can make use of them otherwise they will be going in the skip. Seems a shame if this happens.They would have to be collected from East Yorkshire. Cheers Rod

Hi Roger according to my haynes manual, your gearbox holds 1.75 lires but I`m not sure of the type of oil. my car is automatic. maybe halfords will be able to tell you. Cheers Rod

Hi, Is it possible to buy the chrome x type lettering on the tail gate. Mine was damaged at car wash the other day. It could be a trip to the scrap yards. Cheers Rod

Hi Kevin, I think I have the same problem on my 2009 x type estate. I`ve done all the checks that you mention including taking everything out of the boot. What sort of job is it to change the shocks and was it the mounting bushes that had failed? Did you replace with same type or did you upgrade them? My car has done 145k but runs really well apart from this annoying problem. Thanks Rod

Hi, I can confirm that I have recently had a lift in the back of a XE. It was not only very cramped but took me some time to get in and out without marking the trim with my muddy boots. I`m only 5ft 6" tall and slim build and wouldn`t want to travel very far in it. Great performance car though. Cheers Rod

Hi Anthony, I have the same car and had exactly the same problem soon after I bought the car. Took it back to seller and they cleaned the EGR valve but it did it again a few days later so I took it to Independent Jag garage in Hull and they diagnosed turbo actuator fault. Replaced and car has been fine since and seller paid for repair as I tried to claim via my Warranty Wise but they refused to cover the cost. this was over 50k ago and it drives lovely. This is a great car to drive. Enjoy it. Cheers Rod

Hi Steve, Welcome to the club. I have a 2008 2.2 diesel estate auto. Now done 143k. Had a few issues but this is out weighed by the driving pleasure. Always use premium fuel. Change oil and filter as often as you can afford. Check for rear wiper arm spindle seizing up. Take off clean and grease maybe twice a year. Rear suspension is a bit harsh but I think that gives it good road holding. Hope you enjoy it. I`m at the other end of the M62 near Hull. Cheers Rod

Hi Rob, I have a 2008 version and I love it. Its now done 140k and has had all the problems that most of the other cars that I have owned. Always use premium fuel and I change the oil and filter every 8k miles. From a driving point, its the best drive ever. Enjoy. Cheers Rod

Hi Johnny, I have the same problem on my X Type. Sometimes it goes off after starting but sometimes stays on until I turn off the ignition at end of journey. Not noticed it coming on during journey. Passed mot recently. Cheers Rod

Hi Chris, I have the same model now with 140000 on the clock but still a great car to drive. Bit of a hard ride but this gives great road holding. Good fuel consumption in the mid 40s. Had all the same issues as you but still love it. enjoy yours. Cheers Rod
