hi there is no easy way just look on ebay and autotrader and see what similar car is fetching, then adjust for, if its lower mileage and better service history people will only pay what other are fetching, unless your prepared to sit on it for ages, but these cars don't like sitting around have a look on JEC and Jaguar driver club sites and see what similar cars are fetching as well cheers Joe

1997 XJ long wheel base barn find
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Anthony s's topic in Jaguars For Sale & Wanted
hi thats a 1997 car, so it will be a 4.0 V8, not a 4.2, 4.2 are post 2002 so depending on its history, can have lots of engine issue, known problems with nicasil bores and mainley problems with timing chains and tensioners so unless you know its history, it may need a lot of engine work as well, 4.2 are a much better engine and much more reliable cheers Joe -
hi personally I'd steer clear of ebay, for a few reasons, theres alway a few variations in sizes of discs, so odds are they will send the wrong ones, There really heavy and like most the couriers dont care and they usually get damaged where there thrown around in the van and what you get is not always what you paid for I'd use somewhere like euro car parts, there always one local, and there prices are usually really cheap, they always have deals on them most weekends making them half price, you pay and collect, if there wrong you just swap them, no night mares after youve spent all day getting the old ones off and the selection of brand is good cheers Joe

hi if you look on some of the forums, you should be able to find a link to download it, as its over 8gb its not that easy to share the file also it wont work on a lot of cars, the nav dvds are getting old on these cars and most wont play copied dvd's only genuine burned ones also the volvo denso dvds wont work on our cars as its a different denso nav unit as for Jagdroid, £650 quid cheap, people will pay £1500 of a new iphone or samsung phone, so bargain if ask me, the unit does so much and can easily be sold on for same money if car is sold cheers Joe

hi the inertia switch cuts power to the fuel system, usually the first thing you would check when you find there no fuel getting the car plugged into jaguar software like jaguar ids/sdd would of clearly showed the inertia fuel cut off tripped also even though its semi hidden the fuel inertia cutoff off switch features in every cars handbook its definately one to remember cheers Joe

This post is 4 years old, Ebay is very good, I've had many many bargains over the years, you just need to check the sellers feedback.

yes unfortunately the hose is buried right under the supercharger depends how handy you are, I did mine over 2 days and replaced anything looking tired and all genuine gaskets i found it quite straight forward, but Ive always done all my own work on cars worth getting some prices if your not hppy doing it yourself cheers Joe
-
hi no all the work is done from above drain cooling system, remove expansion tank, induction elbow, upper induction pipe to throttle body, both belts need come off, then egr and throttle body with elbow underneath, then supercharger to intercooler inlet pipe, then supercharger workshop manual via jaguar repair http://www.jagrepair.com/ workshop here http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/CarPDFFiles/SType/S-Type 2002.5-2008-FSM-Workshop.pdf this is the pipe that fails, lower one original one looks about to fail, upper one is new its always the short section that fails, which I have replaced with a silicone hose which is far superior as it has 5 plies of reinforcement and much higher pressure rating. also worth replacing any hoses that look perished, water pump if its still original and also the push fit fitting on the rear elbow, under throttle body, this push always fails after it been disturbed and will cause air leak and lean codes after. also worth replacing the oil in the supercharger while it off all gaskets and seals I used were all genuine parts cheers Joe

hi the other thing that causes this is either putting the wrong bulb type in, or putting it in the wrong orientation(brake light bulbs) the pegs on the bulbs are in a specific place in put in wrong, the short the tabs at the bottom of the bulb out cheers Joe
-
HI That will be the famous valley pipe, £20 hose, costs anywhere from £500 to £1000 to change due to very labour intensive job. if its leaking down the back of the engine and down the gearbox, it is quite a bit cheaper if you do it your self then costs are not so bad, did mine myself a few year ago if you need any more info just ask cheers Joe
-
no, there all offline ones, so no vin search you need a dealer gateway to have the searchable version
-
yes it still works just added it on another pc if you google it, there plenty of forums you can download it with instructions cheers Joe
-
hi virtually every thing on the S-type works this way, 12v feed one side and the other side goes back to the body module and switches the earth to bring it on cheers Joe
-
HI usually this is a fuse, theres 2 fuses to each light, so if 1 fuse goes it makes both flash dimly its so easy on these, the bulbs have a permanent feed on one side of the bulb, so when you remove the bulb cluster, if you touch the body, it pops a fuse every time cheers Joe

increase ground clearance on XF Sportbrake 2013
JOE-DOT-COM replied to terry cremins's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Hi, The XF has same suspension a S-type, theres no easy way to get much lift on the suspension best case with something like stiffer springs or adding spring assistors you only going raise it just over an inch, only other option is air suspension, which is not going be cheap, would be custom on a xf think better off trading in for something allready higher. cheers Joe -
Hi you may want to check the history of this car, as just found this on another forum apparently that was 3.0 awd back in 2007, now its a 2.5? , also says its a 2003 model, old picture you have there from 2007 when it was listed on pistonheads
