hi just had a look at xf engine bay pics and it looks like a right night mare to get the bonnet open they look similar to a S-type, but cant be accessed from underneath, would try the basics first, get someone to lean on the bonnet, front leading edge corners while someone pulls the bonnet pull other wise looks like the only easy way in is throught the grill, as a last resort, would have to scrifice the grill t get in, on the S-types theres, security metal covers over the locks so they cant be open through the grill, first thing i removed on my S-type, makes getting in easier if cable snaps you might be able to hook the bonnet latches through the grill, with some long rigid wire with a small hook on the end if your in the AA you could try them, It would not cost anything and they might of come accross it before there really in a awkward place on the xf, pic below hope you get it sorted cheers Joe

Hi Ive had mine icarsoft CR Pro about a year and half, it covers all manufacturers and it came with lifetime up dates, you just remove the sd card, plug it into your pc and run the iCarsoft MSDIAG PCClientKits and it updates. work really well, I allways keep it in the car so i can view faults and reset them if im away from home, its updated 3 times allready getting any extra features cam as v11.3, then updated to v11.45, now at v11.5, due another update any time Ive never used it on my Jaguar, as Ive never had any problems, also the S-type R, had the ability to read codes and reset them on the touch screen in the hidden menu's I've used it on fords, landrovers, fiat, mitsubishi, vauxhall, audi, vw , peugeot so far with no issues, it paid for itself a few time over now some pics below cheers Joe also they look like there still cover all manufacturers and still have lifetime updates, icarsoft cr pro on ebay link to ebat icarsoft cr pro pictures are not the best but they give idea of cars covered

hi the v2 had some extra features, but is very similar, but version 3 differences are The first change of note is that the iCarsoft V 3.0 is able to conduct actuation tests and auto VIN identity checks whereas the V2.0 OB2 scanner could not. Also there are a number of extra special service functions that relate to a range of systems that include, Airbag crash data resets, Active damping control module tests, Adaptive speed control systems, Instrument cluster module tests I have the Icarsoft CR PRO, which is also very similar, but covers all manuafacturers and lifetime updates cheers Joe

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Davekes's topic in Jaguar XF Club
hi there not tinted widows, there removeable blinds, have some in my s-type there fitted to rear side windows and rear screen, and there removeable think adamesh do them cheers Joe -
hi need to plug in with Jaguar ids/sdd to see what the problem is, most code readers only read engine ecu and thats it, jaguar ids/sdd reads every module, give you fault code, what to check and remedies. but its going to be either a bad module, if your boots damp, pull the module apart if theres water staining its no good, or epb motor, usually a break in the wiring if its hanging loose and flaps around, or bad hall sensor in it, or stiff hand brake cables, a low battery can cause loads of problems aswell, make sure its fully charged. theres a procedure for driving the epb on and off have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xebdRYwtjE cheers Joe

hi waxoyl not very good, goes on too thick, then splits and holds water. use something like bilt hamber S50 or these lanoguard kits need to do inside all the box sections as well, takes time but well worth it, did mine a few years ago also Krown rust treatment is worth looking at, they do it all for you and comes with a guarantee, good stuff cheers Joe

Automatic seat adjust module.
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Max Lloyd's topic in Jaguar Parts and Accessories For Sale & Wanted
hi just press the memory button for the position you want you get 2 memories per key, then set the switch on the steering column to auto depending on what seats you have, it will remember full seat position, 16 way, + head rests, door mirrors, steering column and pedals, does on my S-type R cheers Joe -
Hi Make sure you check the battery as well, they can go flat or low quite quick and a low battery will make it do all strange things and lots of fault codes make sure the battery fully charged and try it again cheers Joe

HI +1 for the Bosch Aero, there quite cheap from Eurocarparts when they have there sales on at the weekends have tried a few different makes and the bosch ones seem to last the longest if your car is a face lift model you do have to make sure there compatible with the clip on washer jets on the wipers, don't matter with earlier cars as there on the bonnet. also there a bit awkward to fit as you can only lift the wiper arms a few inches before they hit the bonnet, but easy enough with some patience cheers Joe

Hi They do look good, have been tempted myself, some of them have torches on and multiple usb's, so there quite usefull never needed on on my car though, allways keep my car on a CTEK when not in use and keeps the cars battery tip top, no faults in over 5 years, touch wood. still tempted though cheers Joe

hi get the codes read, it could be 1 of a 1000 things, otherwise its just pure guess work a good code reader or ideally jaguar ids/sdd to get accurate codes, faults and remedies cheers Joe
-
hi if its a 2000 car its the ford gearbox so would benefit from a oil change, which is cheap as it uses standard atf oil change can cure most faults and atf is cheap so a good place to start cheers Joe

hi you can adjust the headlight beams, they are adjuster on the back of the head light, cant remember whether there allen key or philips screw slot, but there there. only problem is there not seperate, the adjusters adjust both, so will raise both high beam and low beam at same time. as for linkages on suspension, as you car has the manual adjustment on the dash, this means you car has halogen lights, not hid, which means there not self leveling, so there is no linkages on the suspension, as there are no level sensors fitted. also all the factory workshop manual are in this link, this will eliminate any guess work. http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe

hi adjuster fail on all the S-types easiest way to tell if they have broke is hold the back of the high beam bulb and if they feel loose, move up and down, the reflector will move, then there broke they may just need adjusting, also the lenses can either fog up or go milky on the outside, which can be cured with a 3m headlight restoration kit which polishes the lense, to like new look some times may be quicker and cheaper to buy a used pair of headlights on normal bulbs cheers Joe
-
hi all S-type have electric headlight height adjusters, some are manual, dial on dash, some are self leveling, HID ones. all suffer from broken adjust, they go brittle and break, ending in drooping headlights, replacements are avail on ebay self leveling lights, all STR and option HID if fitted, have two sensors, front and rear, should do the dance every time the ignition is switch on, lights go fully up, then fully down, then level, if any key parts are unplugged, with battery connected, sensors or headlights, the self leveling will stop working and can only be reset with Jaguar ids/sdd software cheers Joe

hi ebay or if you google it, it can be downloaded from some forums but last update was 2012, so still out of date if it a keeper have a look at Jagdroid, just google it, not cheap but superb bit of kit, love mine cheers Joe

Jaguar s type 2.7d automatic 2006
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Ian Stuart Clegg's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
HI Amber gearbox fault light is a give away get it plugged in and see what the fault is, any suggestions on here will be pure guess work and will be a expensive way to sort it get the code and it will point you in the right direction, could be as simple as a abs sensor or low oil in the box you ideally need some one with Jaguar IDS/SDD for correct fault codes cheers Joe -
hi as above, you need to identify where fault it if you plug in it usually logs where the fault is, otherwise you need to plug in when the fault is there but most common areas are where wires move, so if it has seat air bag, check wires under the seats, or quite common is clock spring on steering wheel airbag cheers Joe

1996 X300 (Japanese Import) _ manual door lock issues.
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Stamporek's topic in 1994 to 2003 XJ
hi I assume its got no remotes to lock the doors, just the key does it have a button on the dash that locks and unlocks all the door, if so and if that still works, sounds like the door lock maybe you need to check the door lock switch and it looks like theres a few relays and fuses also that need checking if you need wiring diagrams have a look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe -
hi the latest nav disc for s-types is 2012, they dont do anything newer if your cars a keeper get jagdroid, have it in mine, superb setup, latest android. all apps available, android auto, google maps, tomtom, also dab, front an rear cameras can be fitted and also google assistant works while driving full hand free https://www.jagdroid.org/ cheers Joe

hi yes the global opening closing works from the fob, the door lock and dash button if the passenger will not close its because the one touch has not been done, on that window hold open button till it clicks, the n hold the close till it clicks, once one touch is working, the global opening closing will work also works with sun roof if fitted cheers Joe
