Hi, you need to make sure you have the phone module in the boot
-
hi c1785 is drive unit open circuit so the wiring tp the park brake motor is open circuit, so worth checking the wiring, could be the connectors to the epb corroded, they wires are also known to snap by the park brake motor if there left hanging and not tied down, you swapped the module so that eliminates that it could also be worn brushes on the epb motor, try tapping the motor, if it start to work for a while , could be brushes, worth testing at the module on the motor wires and see what resistance you get, if it fluctuates when you wriggle the wires by the motors, its the wires cheers Joe

hi Damp in the boot is a common problem, water usually leaks in above the rear lights and can cause lot of problems with electronics in the boot the EPB is very sensitive to low batteries, so if the battery is low, first thing on cold mornings, battery voltage can drop causing problems with the EPB module, if voltage is low it goes out with a fault, which be reset by either disconnecting the battery or unplugging the epb module itself, same as disconnecting the battery but with out the pain of putting radio code in and resetting all windows. most common faults are stiff cables, stiff calipers or worn epb motor/gear inside and sometime fail epb reed switch, the park brake is quite complicated how it works, it monitors voltage and current of the motor moving in both ways, it gets pulses as it moves, so when you calibrate it after disconnecting the battery it learns, brake on position and brake off position, learns how long it took to get there and how much load it took, so if any of these change significantly it brings a fault up, most commonly cause by low battery voltages if you plug in with Jaguar IDS/SDD it talks to all the modules on the car, checking the EPB module with give you a fault code and reason of the fault. you can also manually operate the epb motor if you handy with car electricals, have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xebdRYwtjE cheers Joe

hi looks like you cap has split, should just pull out, should be all one piece the yellow part should be stuck inside the cap new cap time cheers Joe
-
hi looks possible, its usually leaks, and that age where they start to perish, especially if disturbed cheers Joe
-
hi usually air leaks on the intake system somewhere, if its doing i on shut throttle could be the flexi on the egr wont be fuel pump that would give a different fault code as fuel pressure is monitored with a sensor when you take you foot off the throttle coasting the injectors are turned off, otherwise you get unburnt fuel down the exhaust, which would destroy the cats cheers Joe

hi it all down to diesel in the oil from either leaky injectors or blocked dpf so change the oil regular and keep an eye on oil level, if it goes up between checks you have issues diesel dilutes the oil, its not a very good lubricant and you get heat generated by the main bearing, centre one fails first, cranks gets that hot it weakens and snaps, worse case senario, but its quite common so keep an eye on your oil cheers Joe

HI Unfortunately theres been no updates for jaguar, S-type, X-type and XJ, which all used the same system since 2012 since 2012 theres been a massive amount of road changes, but if you google it you can download load it and burn it yourself cheapest option would be to update your tomtom, I went down the Jagdroid route, got my touchscreen converted to android 9 and you can do anything you want as on a new android phone, google maps, front and rear camera, dab radio, google assistant, superb if its a keeper, have a look here http://www.jagdroid.org/ cheers Joe

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Clairex350's topic in 2003 Onwards XJ
Hi Any good lock smith should be able to decode the chube lock, as its used on many fords, then once you have a key it need coding to the car so it will start, as it needs to recognise the transponder chip in the keyfob there are many locksmith in the uk that do this, there should be some where you are cheers Joe -

Brake light short 2002 s type
JOE-DOT-COM replied to jamescockburn@btinternet.c's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi Common fault on the s-type, all the bulbs have a permanent 12v feed one side of the bulb, other side goes to rear body module which switch the earth to bring it on so if you touch the body while removing the cluster or accidentally putting the bulb in the wrong way round will pop a fuse also make sure the bulb is correct 21w4w, but sometime they give you a 21w5w, which will go in but pop a fuse theres 2 fuses to each rear light, make sure the fuses are good there are no earth at the rears lights only positive feeds, as above, one side of bulb has a permanent 12v feed, earth is switch by the rear body module cheers Joe if you need wiring diagrams have a look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ -
Hi not sure on the xf's , but theres usually somewhere under the bonnet to connect a charger if your not using it much, I recommend a CTEK smart charger, with a convenience kit, the convenience kit allow a charging socket in the boot you just plug in when not in use and it keeps your battery fully charged, save any problems, these cars are so sensitive to low battery voltage, it causes the modules to go in fault. had one mine, ever since I had it, never had any problems with the car what so ever cheers Joe

hi what color is the smoke, blue smoke means burning oil, if its smoke a bit, its most probably turbocharger seals, they smoke at idle when seals are starting to fail black smoke usually means burning fuel, possible injector white smoke, can be water or just condensation on cold mornings does it use any engine oil or water you can also get smoke from passenger side of engine bay, wheel arch are, this normal below 5 deg C, aux diesel heater webasto runs at that temp to assist heater warm up times. cheers Joe

hi if you look to the top theres pictures of what you need cheers Joe

Hi This ia a common problem as cars get older, its usually the the battery that fails in the active sounder, usually gives loads of ramdom faults, easiest way to fix is disconnect the the active sounder, under the fusebox in the engine bay you could get a replacement sounder, but odds are it would fail as the battery inside them are well past it now new sounder do pop up every now and then, but not often personally I would just unplug the sounder, there not really a theft risk these days cheers Joe

Tuning a 2.5v6 estate with new exhaust
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Ricky7774's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi There no gains to be had on normally aspirated cars with out spending big money should have gone for the 3.0 remap will only give a couple of hp and as for exhaust next to nothing, a couple hp again. not worth the money for so little gains exhaust upgrade on the V6 only just make more noise and dont sound the best on a V6, like they do on a V8 cheers Joe -
hi looks great and welcome I'm also in staffordshire if you need any info give us a pm will keep an eye for you pic of mine below cheers Joe

hi telling people what engine may help

hi try unplugging the airbag module a few times, just incase of a bad connection if the battery has been flat in the past, its a common time for them to fail air bag modules can be bought for less than £20, worth swapping and see what happens cheers Joe

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Stan Trencher's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
hi its the laser getting tired sat nav dvd runs continous so its seen some hours now they can be fixed most time by cleaning the laser with a dvd cd cleaner if not, used are cheap and plug and play, try somewhere like jaguar auto reserve, there parts are guaranteed cheers Joe
