Hi You can get a new navigation DVD off ebay, last ones were 2012, not sure about your country but if you google it there should be plenty of places that sell them Also if you have the touch screen, which is usually standard with the navigation, you cannot remove the Nav DVD unit in the boot, because the picture for the touch screen is generated by the Nav dvd unit in the boot, so removing it will render the touch screen useless, no climate control, no cd changer, no phone. cheers Joe

Hi Its worth having the oil changed in the gearbox first its a ford gearbox on the x-types and quite trouble free its only uses standard ATF in the Ford box, so a oil change is quite cheap if it were anything mechanical it would do it all the time, they dont fix themselves sometimes cheers Joe

Hi That sounds like the master cylinder if you pump the brakes with the engine off, the pedal should come up a bit and go hard, if it goes down slowly then its the seals in the master cylinder, a good master cylinder and servo, should stay high and quite hard, once the engine is started the pedal should drop slightly the diesels had problems with the servo and master cylinder been contaminated with engine oil, theres a non return valve between the servo and engine on the vacuum line that sticks open and lets oil vapour into the servo under boost, eventually the oil destroys the servo and master cylinder. but your sounds like it might just be the master cylinder, servo can be checked once the master cylinder is off, to see if the servo has oil inside it, it should be clean and dry inside. this was a recall for landrovers with the same engine cheers Joe

Hi instructions usually come with the module, generally you have to use special modules/relay unit for these, as the wiring is not conventional, as in the lights usually have permanent 12volts to them and the body modules switch the earths. but as for wiring diagrams look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe

hi what model s-type is it, what engine theres were early production cars, there were a few s-type R's the s-type R's that were prototypes had reg number BP51 KNW, BP51 KNT, BP51 KNR, BP51 KNS, BP51 KNU, BP51 KNV, BP51 KNW, BP51 KNX, these were proto types and still on the road. also most prototypes had no emisions listed, so none were ulez exempt like a S-type R usually is. just early production, none were destroyed. cheers Joe

Hi, Though they both have the same ZF 6HP26, they may have different torque converters and the TCM which is built into the gearbox is coded to the car, so unless its off a identical spec car, it may need coding to the car to getting it working right cheers Joe
-

battery no charging sign on instrument pannel
JOE-DOT-COM replied to [email protected]'s topic in Guides & Reviews
Hi You need to plug in with Jaguar SDD, that will tell you why the fault is on generic code reader are generally useless unless is a simple engine fault usually a battery fault, some cars have two batteries, the small one is overlooked and usually the problem cheers Joe -
Hi If your in the AA just get them out, they should be able onper the door lock usuall involves forcing the glass out a bit and hooking the door look/hand hand with a long wire hook cheers Joe

Door sensor on – keep saying passenger door is lulled
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Pamela's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi usually a dongy door lock, the switch are inside the lock, common fault you could also just unplug the alarm sounder in the engine bay as a quick fix cheers Joe -
yes its ok to charge it with a ctek, but if the battery is at 5volts its no good and no amount of charging will bring it back just replace it with a new one and will give you less problems in the long run a lot of people put jump leads on the car leads while swapping the battery so no setting are lost cheers Joe

Hi I would start with basics first and get a sniff test done, quick and easy, will confirm the head gaskets are ok, the most common reason for over heating on the S-types, if a hose has failed and the car has overheated, usually causes head gasket failure. once thats confirmed ok, then start to check items like radiator and water pump, aux pump, air locks. cheers Joe

Hi usually on these if theres a fault, if it has cats active damping, the suspension will default to hard setting until the fault is cleared you need to plug in and see if theres any faults, ideally with Jaguar IDS/SDD, but Icarsoft LR V2 or V3 will do it quite cheaply and worth having for any other faults, generic code readers will only read engine faults and nothing else. but could be a range of things, hard to say with out plugging in cheers Joe
-
hi only way to know is to get Jaguar ids/sdd software plugged in and see what the fault is, this software will tell you exactly where the fault is whn you say they have been replaced, were they used, if so either could of failed, dont think new ones have been available for a while now virtually impossible to diagnose without the correct software, could be module, common if boot get damp, wiring breaks by the epb is not tied up or the reed sensor can fail on the epb motor cheers Joe
-
Hi should be straight forward to put back to factory the juddering might be the front brake discs, which is quite common to juddering brakes cheers Joe
