JOE-DOT-COM replied to Kris88's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi there a a couple of mega fuses, 1x 400 amo and 1x 175 amp, between battery and fuse box in the boot, there usual held in with screws, so wonder if there loose last pic is a mega fuse cheers Joe -
hi as above just connect to the battery terminal just check the battery has a vent pipe fitted, as it should have and it goes out the back panel behind the bumper if you leaving it on charge you can get a build up of gas, in the boot, if no vent pipe is fitted cheers Joe

hi gurgling is usually air in the water system, theres specific bleed point to let air out click might be climate, it alters flaps and even can start the fans if it setup to do so in dealer setting, so might be normal what engine do you have cheers Joe

3.0 2005 P0730 P0702 Restricted Performance
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Kris88's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi 702 is a battery fault, I'd check all the battery connection and connections to the body earth, also check the mega fuse connection and fusebox, make sure nothing loose 730 is a gearbox ratio fault, but could be related to the battery fault cheers Joe -
hi I would never use IDS or SDD with a virtual machine, very unstable and the best way to ruin modules dedicated laptop with windows xp pro is best and there cheap as well cheers
-
hi you never said whether you got it working as sometimes, if the connectors get enough water in them and corrosion, they take the climate module out cheers Joe

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Raistlin's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi all the manuals here http://www.jagrepair.com/ can be downloaded and saved on your computer and there all free cheers Joe -
hi most favorite problem would be leaking windscreen if its had a new screen in the past, most probably not fitted correct I would assume you would need to get the windscreen removed and refitted to cure the leak cheers Joe
-
hi if dccv did not work its usual the climate module above the glove box climate module usually blows a track on the board which can be easily repaired by linking out blown tracks, I would link out with 5 amp fuse wire which will offer future protection as said above, tracks fail for a reason and on the S-type its usually a faulty dccv, since that has now been replaced you should be ok, once the climate module has been repaired or replaced cheers Joe

hi Ive got it in mine, got the newer n2 version, which is faster and more storage well recommended, have reverse camera fitted to mine and it all works excellent and so does still all the oe stuff one problem I can see is, if you have no sound now, you still may have no sound with jagdroid as it uses the same fibre optic system for sound when you say you have no nave sound, does all the rest of sound work, cd player does that still work for sound cheers Joe
-
hi Ive got one, but only use IDS as my car is 2004 yours is 2006 so would be using SDD, which Im not sure on all I can say, is you need a heavy duty battery charger while doing anything, if the battery goes low while programing it can destroy the module also don't recommend using it on window 7 onwards, using virtual software to run windows xp pro, its very unstable and feezes a lot, again it can damage modules by corrupting software use a dedicated laptop with windows xp pro, which can be bought cheap what are you trying to do cheers Joe

hi not sure on the xe, but most have buttons at the bottom of the stems you need to press in to release them unless there electric adjustment like mine, in which case are clipped in and require the seat back to be removed to unclip them without damaging them post some pics of your headrests up will give us a better idea cheers Joe

hi if it not been done its well over due, ZF recommend 60k or 10 years if you have it done stick with genuine parts and oil, specifically ZF lifeguard 6, also if it had been done at a dealer, they would also check software up to date, last update was 2009 and they reset adaptations and do a learn cycle, as sometimes changing the oil can make it harsher if it has shifting issues cheers Joe
-
hi most of the times a bad dccv valve will take out the climate module as said above there above the glove box autoreserve jaguar sell used parts a reasonable price and are guaranteed and not to expensive theres also a reset procedure for the climate control heater flaps if they get out of sync, should be able to google this cheers Joe
-
hi the sprung leaper are legal, as they break off if hit with force they can only go in one place on a S-type, theres a hole in the bonnet frame work and the hole must be in the middle if you fit one make sure you buy a s-type one, as the base is curved, theres a few different types, make sure its put on the right way round aswell, like in peter's photo, see so many on backwards cheers Joe

hi yes solenoids and valve are easily accessed by dropping the sump, the valve body comes off complete, friction plates means gearbox has to come out theres loads of video of the zf 6HP26 been stripped on youtube you really need a runner if you buy a used box, so you can test drive it, otherwise you dont know what your buying but I would say there is a abundance of 2.7 gearboxes about, as most get broken for engines for range rovers cheers Joe
-
hi Ive seen people fit a sonnax kit to the valve body which can cure similar problems, this fixes incorrect oil pressures and theres loads of little valves it replaces there also some sleeves and a spacers above the valve body that can split, but if its slipping could also be clutches friction plates, might be worth going to a gearbox specialist for advice first if it were mine, id strip it and rebuild it, replace any thing that looks worn, change all the friction plates, fit a sonnax kit and possible a set of solenoids if you got for a used gearbox, it will need programing to the car before it will start, as its coded to the car, TCM is internal the gearbox cheers Joe

hi hope they they used Zf parts and ZF lifeguard 6 oil, some problems are when people use cheap oil putting ATF in the zf box, will cause no ends of problems also when the gearbox is serviced the software so be checked its up to date, though I think 2009 was the latest update and the adaptations should be reset and a learn cycle should be done, if its not been done could be the issue cheers Joe

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Bozy09's topic in Jaguar Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Hiyou need a harness to and from boot and nav unit in the boot, as the video is generated by the DVD unit in the boot, also need a fibre optic link Cheers Joe -
Hi On the s-type one of the rear doors is wired parallel to passenger front door so if passenger door is working so should one of the rears, odds are rears have seized and failed at same time you need to check your getting voltage to rear door central locking motors, would be first thing to check if you getting voltage, then lots of wd40 can free them off, if you need wiring diagrams look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ As for the XF there a completely different animal, but would start with the basics, like checking a the rear door locks for voltages, if you need wiring diagram PM me cheers Joe
