Help with Limp Mode, ECM communication issues
JOE-DOT-COM replied to sangeeth911's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi P0715 is faulty speed sensor inside gearbox, unless thats cleared, thats the fault cheers Joe -
Hi I'd advertise it on EBAY, as a Classified, as it gets the widest audience but now may be no the right time to sell, values will be lower due to the current covid !Removed! up may be worth sitting on it for a while, if you have the space, if if you do, get a smart charger on it, or you will end up will a low battery and loads of module issues just out of curiosity what engine is it, as it says 2.6 in title and they never made a 2.6, assume 2.5 petrol or 2.7 diesel, post some pics up, some one may be interested on here cheers Joe

HI Did not think any lights come on the dash for ABS operation, only a fault bring it on and it light up for a few seconds everytime the ignition is switch on, just to proove light works Only traction control brings a flashing light on, when it operates cheers Joe
-
hi used a ctek for years on mine most people go for mxs5.0 you can also buy convenience plugs that connect to the battery easily, no need to expose battery, just open boot and plug in can be left on long term aswell, Jaguar oe optional chargers were made by ctek cheers Joe
-
HI not sure which one you have as they dont make a 2.6, so assume its a 2.5 petrol or 2.7 diesel Its always usually the battery, if the battery came undercharged, I'd sent it back, some batteries once they get below 10 volts are never the same again but sounds like you have a battery drain problem, which is flattening the battery short term use a smart charger like a CTEK, long term you need to find whats draining the battery have a read of these S414-01am Quiescent Drain Current.pdf Quiescent Current Drain.pdf cheers Joe

hi yes its a new intercooler and its a common problem on early cars and especially if its been mapped sure later intercoolers were revised to cure this issue cheers Joe

Electric handbrake - on or off?
JOE-DOT-COM replied to garbage-overlord's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi leaving handbrake on long term does not effect its reliabilty but things like low battery does, sticking caliper and stiff cables or damp in the boot the park brake pawl on the gearbox is not really designed to hold the car weight and can easily will break in over loaded, ie nudged by another car in a flat garage or flat drive I would leave it off, but if parked on anything but flat or on a public road would always apply the park brake, how would you justify the car rolling away and damaging or worse case hurting some one if the park fails cheers Joe -
hi the item in your picture is just a standard cd player, it has no dab you can get many after market dab radios off ebay that hook up the car stereo wires and give you dab I have a Jagdroid in my S-type R and is supperb, full android facility, google maps or tomtom, dab, reverse camera and full google assistant, cheers Joe
-
Hi Cant see it been door modules, as theres only one door module on the s-type and thats in the drivers door and if that was corrupt nothing would work, none of the windows, central locking and lots more have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset everything, make sure you have radio code before you do cheers Joe
-
That sound like a break in the wiring on the drivers door shut try wrigling the wires in the door shut, they can snap there due to age and its the pivot point for the wiring cheers Joe
-
Hi Henry you will also need software like Jaguar IDS/SDD as the new gearbox will need programing to the car, its not plug and play everthing on the car works on canbus, so when you fit the new gearbox it wont start, till its programed cheers Joe
-
hi could be one of many things but things to check, sill drains blocked, especially if you have a sunroof, as it drains into the sills rear door steps under the chrome jaguar steps there 2 holes, if these get blocked that area fills and overflows into the car last boot, above the rear lights, it leaks in there through the lights, there should be a rubber piece there sealing it, it either shrinks or comes out, most people put a bead of silicone sealant there and that sorts it cheers Joe
-
hi sounds like you need to replace some bulb in the dash, if its not lighting up clearly cheers Joe
-
HI yes they both need programing and awkward to do but this site I think is mainly uk you need a us forum, try https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s-type-s-type-r-supercharged-v8-x200-15/ they might be able to find someone closer to you cheers Joe
-
hi get the cover off and have a look, they usually completely rot away new clips are available off ebay cheers Joe
-
hi only way to know for sure is get it plugged in, can be one of many things would not rule out module, unless it was known working and tested but could be one on many things, but sounds like a bad EPB motor getting it plugged in will tell you where the fault is would not rely on park either, as the park pawl is not very strong and not designed to hold the weight of the car cheers Joe

A lady needs help with her XJS
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Eileen Greenhowe's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
hi best option might be get it repaired as it will come with a guarantee its usually components like the capacitors fail, so buy used, might get you one in worst condition, unless its tested and quaranteed do you know the part number off the ecu, as that will be the first question they ask you cheers Joe -
2010 Xtype boot release button won’t open boot
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Brian Docherty's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
HI Sounds like either a faulty boot release push button or the wires going back have snapped, where the boot pivots on its hinges cheers Joe -
hi could be the diff, if its wheel bearing, it usually goes quiet, when you shift the weight to the other side, when going around corners either way, the both a pain to do, diff would most probably be cheaper buy used spare, wheels bearings are also a pain, getting hub off can be awkward, for some reason the driveshaft has locktight on the splines, where it goes into the hub, so you need a descent puller to get the hubs off cheers Joe
-
hi also, if there, manufacturer fitted, they have to work at mot or its a fail if you can disable them via software it would be ok, as long as there are no warning on the dash you need Jaguar SDD software cheers Joe
-
hi yes thats correct, any gas will leave through the rubber tube, behind the bumper you dont want the gases inside the boot area as its explosive cheers Joe

The Eternal BTUM (Bluetooth Module) Problem
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Matt9711's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi moving the wiring about in both connectors will get your bluetooth module to work but there is a far easier method now, replace your phone module or just fit the later black plastic phone/bluetooth combined unit then there will be no need to fit the bluetooth module in the armrest, or mess with any wires the later black plastic phone/bluetooth module has more functionality and can pair multiple devices part number 7W93 10D893 AB, pic below it just fits in the boot, where the phone module is, only extra you need is the bluetooth antenna, which is under a fiver, also if your mic is built into the console, replace it with the external one as there far better cheers Joe
