  1. Hi All Just a Quick Happy New Year and Hopefully a Great and trouble free Jaguar motoring year Had my S-type R, 4 years now and its been trouble free and superb It gets well maintained and looked after by myself I do a lot of the Jaguar breakfast club meets and lots of other jaguar meets through the year Hope to see a few of you at them, if you see me, just give me a shout, pic of my car below cheers Joe Have a good un If you need any Jaguar S-type info, just give me a message, have built quite a large info on these now.
  2. the belt tensioner is the only one that moves, the wheel is fixed to a alloy arm that has a 3/8 square in it, your 3/8 ratchet slot into the arm which is spring loaded, by turning it one way it releases the belt tension, you have to hold it there while you remove the belt off any roller, letting go of it causes it to spring back its spring return so the tension is self setting refitting is reverse, put the belt on all the other rollers, then rotate the last one the tensioner, hold it there and slip the belt back on look at the video above at 3:04, he puts the 3/8 ratchet into the tensioner and releases the tension. its also worth taking a few pics with your phone of where the belt runs, as it quickly forgotten once removed cheers Joe
  3. hi you need to get it plugged in and read the codes you can buy cheap one that will read engine codes if its anything else like trans or any other module, you need more specific code reader to read them as basic code reader will only read engine fault code if your in the AA they will come out and read them and clear them for free cheers Joe
  4. hi think the stalk is a common problem and the replacement should cure it seen it on a few other cars cheers Joe
  5. hi should have one right hand side of boot, most probably dropped behind the side panel may need to remove the panel to find it mine on there, sort of trapped between cover and round carpet cover covering the boot spring cheers Joe
  6. HI You need to get it plugged in to Jaguar software SDD generic code readers wont work and wont communicate with climate module, so wont show any faults the XF system is a more complicated system that uses actuator motors to control heater flaps for hot and cold, so its going to be a actuator may need reseting or a actuator reconfiging or setup link to workshop manual https://www.mediafire.com/file/2dr20527pa21a9s/2008XFWorkshopManual.pdf/file but no use with a jaguar code reader cheers Joe
  7. hi if it that loud should be obvious by looking underneath I would start with exhaust heat shield, they always rot through on the fixings and drop, there large aswell on jaguars usually a easy fix with larger washers, if you remove it temporary try not damage them, as there a mot fail now if there missing or even the large plastic under trays cheers Joe
  8. Hi if you only drive around the town, your allways going to get dpf issues no matter how much additive you put in Peter uses Millers Eco plus Diesel cheers Joe
  9. hi the original jaguar pads are terrible for dust, really bad I used EBC Red Stuff on my S-type R and get next to no dust now, even get better braking cheers Joe
  10. hi there all pretty similar, if you put higher wattage bulbs in, you run the chance of burning the front body module out that controls the lights ive used the ring bulbs before and the last, unlike some of the other https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ring-Xenon150-H7-12v-Car-150-Brighter-Upgrade-Bulbs-Headlight-Headlamp/183548940438?epid=19034905506&hash=item2abc5e9096:g:7voAAOSwZddb9qzo cheers Joe
  11. hi it should work if you have the touch screen also if you phone a dealer they usually give it you for free or look on ebay, you can get the code with the serial number for £1, if its not the oe strereo cheers Joe
  12. hi usually a faulty sounder, if the electronic type, you could just unplug it if it anything else it usually flashes the indicators more time to tell you where the fault is cheers Joe
  13. hi go on euro car parts you get a good choice from budget to premium on both discs and pads I fitted quite a few from there and never had any issues cheers Joe
  14. hi as with many old classics, there always something to do or repair if the fans are working, its either airlocked or if theres a mechanical cable operated water valve that not working, but hopefully something simple cheers joe
  15. hi its also worth asking if they have done a s-type before they are well known for been awkward for tow bars as the require a special controller module as the rear lights are not wired normal, they use a positive earth which means all the bulbs have a permanent feed on one side of the bulb and the other side goes to the rear body module which switches the earth to bring each light on cheers Joe
  16. HI First this post is 4 years old have a look below on how to pair your phone also if you search for bluetooth devices and Jaguar does not come up, odss are it aint got it, as it was a option only cheers Joe
  17. hi and welcome best place for info is here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  18. hi with out plugging in and reading the fault codes, its just pure guess work with whats up with it get yourself a icarsoft jaguar code reading and read the codes and find out most of the times its simple thing like a tired battery, low battery causes lots of problems with modules cheers Joe
  19. hi do you have any pics of the pully you mean cheers Joe
  20. Hi The gearboxes are supposed to be sealed for life, which is absolute rubbish well worth changing the oil, will prolong the life but I would only use genuine zf parts, I think your has the ZF 8HP45 I use something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/genuine-jaguar-xe-zf-8hP45-automatic-transmission-gearbox-pan-sump-filter-7L-oil/263773343119?hash=item3d6a1dcd8f:g:3Z8AAOSwBgZdNgHr for a few reasons, it left the factory with that oil, the TCM is submersed within the oil in the gearbox and when you change the oil, some oil stays in the torque convertor and it can only be drained completely by removal only, mixing different oils is always a bad idea cheers Joe P.S, here a link to work shop manual to make things easier https://www.dropbox.com/s/ee2nxkx6fgqmb25/workshop_manual.zip?dl=1
  21. hi the tv module is usually built into the touch screen cheers Joe
  22. hi not sure about the XF, but I think the wheels nuts are the same on my S-type R if there the flat seat ones with a stainless cover, there a bad design, if there tightened up with air guns, the stainless sleeve slips and you can't get them undone, also there reknown for shearing off have a look at the pics below cheers Joe standard ones oe wheel bolts swap them for these, these are solid no covers and are still 19mm so oe wheel brace can be used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20x-ALLOY-WHEEL-NUTS-JAGUAR-S-TYPE-X-TYPE-CHROME-LUG-BOLT-STUD-QUALITY-20L/322551270259?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144
  23. hi try Ebay theres usually lots on there or a breakers like Auto reserve jaguar , worth giving these a ring, they break running cars daily https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/ cheers Joe
  24. hi its usually one of the fuel gauges in the tank, most have 2 fuel gauge senders, because there a hump in the tank but to confirm you can put the dash in diagnostic mode and get all the gauges to sweep to proove its ok have a look at the bottom for links cheers Joe http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/TSB2/NEW XJ/413Inst & panel illumination/Additional Diagnostics for Instrument Cluster.pdf http://www.bluejag.co.uk/S-Type Instrument-cluster-diagnostics.php http://www.bluejag.co.uk/S-Type Instrument-cluster-diagnostic info.php
  25. hi just found this, maybe worth trying cheers Joe These instructions are suitable for XJ XJ6 XJ8 XJR and XJ TDV6 models 2003-2010 The procedure to program the remote fob or fobs is very simple and should take less than one minute. No tools are required. All remote fobs available must be present when the car is in programming mode, so that they can be programmed at the same time as the new fob. Any fobs that have previously been programmed to the car will need reprogramming at a later date if they are not available when carrying out the following procedure. 1. Enter the car and sit in the Drivers seat. 2. Place the key in the ignition. 3. Hold the headlight flasher arm back – the blue “high beam” light will come on the dashboard and the headlights will come on. 4. Keep holding the headlight flasher back and turn the ignition key to position 1. 5. Release the flasher, and then flash the headlights FOUR TIMES. You will hear a “Beep” on the fourth flash of the headlight – this is to confirm that the car has entered Programming Mode. 6. Program each transmittor by pressing any button on each fob ONCE. You will hear a “Beep” to confirm the car has programmed to the fob. 7. The remotes are now ready to use.
