  1. hi if thats 11.9 with engine off, yes thats too low, that would drop to about 10v I bet once the engine cranking put it on charge overnight and see how it goes, if it drops again, will be new battery if your cars a diesel, that will causes you lots of faults once the pre heater kick in on start up did you check it on start up, should be over 14.5 volts cheers Joe
  2. hi have a look here aswell http://www.jagrepair.com/ plenty of info here cheers Joe
  3. HI Could be one of many, many faults and any advice will be pure guess work and will cost you a fortune in replacements parts you dont need you need to get it plugged in and read the faults codes to send you in the right direction but a low battery will cause many issues on the s-type and a lot will cause restrictive performance put the battery on charge over night and see if it cures it, may only cure it short term if battery old cheers Joe
  4. hi on diesels with dpf's, its depends how you drive it if you potter around every where and the revs never go over 1500 rpm your allways going to have problems give the car a young lad and I can guarantee you will never see a dpf warning ever its not speed thats required, its revs, if the dpf gets hot enough, the content burn off and exit as soot, keeping the revs up for regular intervals help the dpf heat up and keeping it clear when the warning light comes on means its failed to clean itself and theres enough back pressure to warn the driver that a manual regen is required to burn off the soot blocking the dpf if you like to put your foot down regular, then they should be fine, if your going to drive like Miss Daisy, avoid you will get issues with regens cheers Joe
  5. hi the manual is there, here a link http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/CarPDFFiles/SType/S-Type 2002.5-2008-FSM-Workshop.pdf page 1275 engine removal

  8. hi try disconnecting the battery, for a few days, if its starts, then you know battery is ok and its something on the car check the obvious first , interior light, boot light and engine bay light if it has one I had a drain on my car when I first had it and it ended up been a tracker, the internal battery had failed and was draining the main battery cheers Joe
  9. hi even though every one says there a mondeo, they share next to nothing would not even try to use mondeo parts, sometime the correct parts are cheaper
  10. hi its either going be a bent wheel, deformed tyre or if its a awd, drive shaft have you tried swapping front wheels for rear and see if it shifts other option is get under cars and try to lift and lower the drive shafts, if you have a sloppy one, that will be it
  11. also, have you checked theres 12 volts on the fuel pump connections, could be wiring relays and others you could try putting 12 volts onto the pump connection and see if it will run, before removing tank
  12. replacing the fuel pump looks a pain on these my S-type has a plastic cover you remove under the back seat to access the fuel pumps, dont look like the xj has have a look below, taken from jtis on changing fuel pump on xj 2002 cheers Joe
  13. Hi These cars are very sensitive to low battery, is the battery fully charged should read at least 12.4volts if left over night, Id be tempted put it on charge over night and try it, batteries and low voltage causes all kinds of problems and is the biggest cause of most issues
  14. hi jag repair is a great source of info http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  15. hi oe pads are terrible for it, I replace mine for red stuff, much better braking and next to no dust now cheers
  16. hi possible tired battery or alternator not charging have you checked battery voltage when stood and running when stood , should never go below 12volts, if it does battery duff, when running should be around 14v plus, any less alternator duff cheers Joe
  17. Hi The leaper looks ok if its fitted correct, the one you are looking at has been fitted very badly, as its been put on backwards so you could either snap the locating pin off and fit it the correct way or just remove it and fit a badge to hide the hole, plenty of jaguar bonnet badges out there cheers Joe
  18. hi Ideally you want a logger on it to monitor all the sensors on more modern Jaguar its quite easy and cheap to do, but dont know if there compatible with a 1992 car Jaguar wds/ids should do it, would have to be a really early version, logging sensors then looking at the data should tell you whats causing it, favorite items would be maf, ignition, timing or leaky injector also have a look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ at the xjs technical service bulletins fault might be a common fault cheers Joe
  19. hi have a look here, personaly I would not have it done, anything with the emissions will make the car slower and not as nice to drive, if you have it done you will end up having it remapped to make it how it was https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=117670
  20. hi trick is to keep something like copper kote or copper grease on the threads and it will come out easy in the future
  21. HI As above http://www.jagrepair.com/ wiring diagram for a 2002 STR http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/x2042002.50en.pdf cheers
  22. hi its not that easy, theres loads of hoses have a look on the sng site to give you a idea cheers https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families/S-Type and X-Type/12/49/all/1/10/1
  23. hi I dont think a main dealer would strip and rebuild calipers they would just replace, so at a guess they would of not serviced the calipers they would clean and fit new pads garages are not what they use to be and unless you stipulate what work you want, will do the least at least if you do yourself as you have and also I do, you know they have been done right well done on sorting it yourself, job well done
  24. hi your better off get yours repaired or just swap the fuel gauge the dash is part of the security system and if you swap it the car wont start again you would need the dash recoding to the car before it would run again and the mileage cant be altered can only be done with Jaguar IDS/SDD software, either main dealer or a indy with the software, either way not going to be cheap also if you google dash diagnostics you can put your dash into diagnostic mode and test all the gauges http://www.bluejag.co.uk/S-Type Instrument-cluster-diagnostics.php http://www.bluejag.co.uk/S-Type Instrument-cluster-diagnostic info.php
  25. hi if there similar to the S-type ones, you can get the bushes on ebay and can be pressed out and in again if you know what your doing
