if the dpf's are blocked, there not going to clean easy, they need to get really hot so the burn off the build up had a friend recently his played up and the dpf pressure differential switch pipe split, which caused the car to stop doing regens and long term blocked the dpfs he had to take them off and had them cleaned by a company thats specialises in dpf cleaning it cured his and was far cheaper than replacing dpf aditives usually work by making the engine run hotter, mainly the exhaust gases, so the dpf get hotter and burns the soot out, ideally you need to give the car a good run with the aditive and its not speed you need, but more revs, keeping the car at higher revs, will get the dpf hotter and help to clear it cheers

hi does not do anything, modern engines are designed to burn 100% of fuel, so it only reaches inlet valves and then is burnt off there machine allows the engine to run off it instead of fuel out of the tank, the machine runs at a higher pressure than the cars fuel pressure regulator, so the excess pressure is push into the fuel tank, adding there additive to your fuel, while you don't realize, hence why the emissions are lower and why it runs better for a week or so, depending how full the tank is cut out the middle man and just put some additive in your fuel and save a huge chunk of money, try something like cataclean in your fuel think about it, if you have ever seen a valve on a engine, you have to scrap and grind carbon build up off, hows a bit of fuel going to touch it also if you have emissions problems, better off fixing the fault, additives will always be a short term fix cheers Joe

hi because you have no key, you cant just copy the old key I dont think jaguar keeps keys patterns saved, so it would be new ignition, door and boot locks, then recode the keys and remotes cheapest option is to get a second hand set of keys and locks, fit them and get some one out to reprogram them like tony dalton mobile jaguar mapping and coding

Hi if you putting water in every day, then its going somewhere its either leaking onto the under tray so that you dont see it on the floor or worse case , if its a auto, oil cooler in the rad has failed and its going in the gearbox or its head gaskets how much water are you topping up each day, if you had it from a garage, first thing i'd do is take it back

What to look for when buying a 1999-2002 s type?
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Alan burton's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi main thing to check on that era of cars are rust 2 main points, rear sub frame, unique to 1999 to 2002 and getting scarce now for good ones, sills, hidden by covers can completely rot away, if theres rust on the rear arches, odds are sills are gone, other places inside boot, dodgy seal around rear lights let water in and inside doors, on the seams, they rust inside out, you get what look like spiders under the paint also check the drive, theres lots of suspension bushes on these, should drive silky smooth, no knocks or bangs as above use "vehicle smart" to check mot history cheers Joe -

hi there usually a switch inside the door lock mech, car years ago use to have a reed switch and magnet operated it when operated taking the lock out and cleaning out with thin oil can cure it not sure on the X-type, but most jaguars now the door electrics are on a plug, so you could unplug each door one at a time and lock them manually from the inside to eliminate each door leaving the driver door till last, then if it still goes off must be drivers door

hi easy way is to get codes read and it will point you in the right direction but its going to be a pipe off or bad connection, check the maf connector on the air box

Air con pipe from condenser to compressor
JOE-DOT-COM replied to doublekite's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi what engine is it compressor is usually at the front of the engine as its driven off the aux belt if it goes to the rear of the engine then it goes through bulkhead to the heater matrix air con rad evaporator have a look on sng site for part number and price of hose can imagine that hose been a right pain to change aswell -
hi I would not chance it because all the loads goes through the body module which switches the lights on and off if your handy with car wiring, you could install 2 relays, that have a separate 12v supply, then you can install any wattage you want
-
hi this is apparently common on early XE's this is fixed with a dealer software update I would personally wait till you return to the uk if its under warranty should be free other wise a dealer job

original discs work better its because the nav unit is struggling to read the disc, using a cd cleaning disc sometimes can cure it
-
hi usually when this happens you nav dvd unit is on its way out you could try a cd cleaning disc in it, might fix it as the laser gets older it struggles reading the dvd, copied discs are the first to fail, usually the read genuine ones till the end only real fix is to fit another nav dvd unit cheers

hi if the dccv has been replaced then its the climate control module, a bad dccv 4 way valve with damage it if you remove the climate module and remove the pcb, it usually blows track on the board, link them out and it should work again if you google s-type climate module repair, there should be loads of pics

-
Hi You need to plug in with jaguar software really sounds like some immobiliser fault, or a fault on a module ive seen it on rare occasions where, plugging in fault readers or disconnecting them at the wrong time can cause faults only way to know for sure if you can get it plugged in

xj8 exec. 2002 auto seat setting
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Max Lloyd's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
Hi you can get the software off the internet free on quite a few forums the leads you can get for £30 to £100, the lead is a mongoose lead, its the same software that jaguar use, so you can do everything they can, but you have to be cautious because trying to program things like ecu can be dodgy if you dont know what your doing but for diagnostics and programing basic modules its great british diagnostics sell the lead and software for around £100 http://britishdiagnostics.co.uk/ software version V130 is the best for our era of cars, yours would use IDS as its pre 2005, SDD is for post 2005 cars -

-
hi most probably no fault with aircon if its holding gas most coomon fault with s-types is the dccv, dual coolant control valve, its a water coolant valve that controls hot coolant to both passenger and drivers side these fail with age a pass, allowing hot water in to the heater matrix and giving hot air, over powering the air con, try it when the engine cold, put heater on full cold and if it blows cold air con ok, if it get warm or hot when engine hotter is most probably dccv also when dccv fails it can also take out the cllimate control module, usually blows a track on the pcb which can be easily repaired cheers Joe http://jaguarclimatecontrol.com/diagnose/ http://www.jagrepair.com/DCCVSType.htm http://jaguarclimatecontrol.com/repair-and-upgrade/
