HELP DRIVERS SEAT, stuck and no reason!!
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Geobond's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi it wont work because the drivers seat module needs coding/programing to the car you could try the old seat module on the new seat, but the old seat module will also need calibrating, before the seat memories will work and may do strange things you need some one with Jaguar IDS/SDD to program the module all the the modules on the s-type need programing, coding and some calibrating as well as all the modules talk to each through can bus, some used modules are plug and play, because they have been previously programed, but the seat module needs coding to the car passenger seat works fine as is not can bus controled, its all hard wired to the seat switches, drivers seat is can bus controled, so it comunicates with lots of modules like imobilser, each key has two memories, when the imobiliser sees a key, it looks for a memory and moves the seat to that position, if the column switch is in auto cheers Joe -
hi the uk registration number does not exist you might be better off trying to use the vin number cheers joe

hi think there are a few different bulbs fitted there either H3 or HB3 there might more type that, mine were HB3 best way is to have a look, you have to lower the front bumper cover cheers Joe

hi usually find the servo fails because it has oil inside it if a non return valve is fitted, like on every other petrol version, it wont fail again this only effects the diesels, not very often one fails on a petrol the rubber gromment fail is similar, its usually oil contamination that makes the rubber swell and split cheers Joe
-
hi Apparently there straight forward to fit just need activating with Jaguar software SDD have a look here https://www.jaginfo.org/archive/index.php/t-81985.html cheers Joe

What are some good aftermarket parts brands?
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Akaz's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi I use genuine parts for most things, as they are better quality, but you could cut the middle man out by ordering quality after market parts, most of the suspension parts are made by Lenforder, so can be ordered on ebay stick with known makes like denso, ngk, bosch, these are also used by jaguar I get most parts from SNG Barratt, British car parts, Rimmer Bros, all these offer genuine parts and also aftermarket parts also buy car parts is very good for certain items https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/ cheers Joe -
hi wont be injectors, would be black smoke, and fuel would end up in the engine oil, would pass piston rings when engine off like I said, water would give white smoke and oil would give blue smoke if its smoking bad would expect you notice useage quite soon thanks Joe

hi upper intake manifolds cant leak into engine intercoolers can, which could be proved by plugging off the two coolant pipes flow and return to the intercoolers from the radiator car will still run fine, but inlet temp would be higher, but would prove a point, or you could just pressure test each intercooler disconnect the two pipes to each intercooler, plug one pipe and put compressed air on each one, 1.2 bar should do it, as its the same as the pressure relief on the expansion tank, isolate the air, pressure should stay constant and not drop, if it drops then intercooler has failed, easy fix if its coolant though it should be using water, by the sound of it lots, if its oil burning will use oil, blue smoke oil and white smoke water cheers Joe

hi I'd still try replacing the pcv only other thing is worn piston rings, piston ring end gaps too big though if its doing it only on first start up, there must be something on the heads, because like when valve stem seals fail, the oil weep through when it stands, so if yours smoke on start up, there must be something still passing from the heads cheers Joe
-
hi if you car has H7 bulbs they should be plug and play, but you usually cant fit the rear cover because there much longer, or you have to cut holes in them, also without the cover they will also steam up on damp days also they may also fail mot, depending on your mot guy, officially they should and so would fitting hid bulbs in the past found fitting ring xenon 150 plus bulbs work well with halogen headlight cars, brighter and mot friendly cheers Joe
-
hi usually valve stem seals, did you use genuine jaguar ones, some after market ones are really poor quality could also be the crankcase pcv, it controls the pressure in the crankcase, they stick as they get old and cause the pressure to rise in the engine case and cause oil to be pushed past the piston ring and smoke its on the left side of the engine and is like a round disc this is a common problem on higher miles cars cheers Joe

2004 S-Type 2.7D when attempting to start, nothing happens.
JOE-DOT-COM replied to plaviator's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Hi These are common and usually caused by a low battery have you checked the battery voltage, should be above 12.5 volts, if the voltage is lower than this battery may need replacing also sometimes these faults caused by a low battery will need reseting with jaguar IDS/SDD before they will clear Ideally you need to get it plugged in to see what faults are listed, generic code readers will only read and clear engine codes, not gearbox, dsc or epb faults, I'd check battery voltage and make sure it does not drop rapidly, you have to wait 40 mins before the car sleeps and the current drop to about 30mA also diesels seem put strain on alternators and these can fail, causeing a short, making the battery voltage drop quick cheers Joe -

hi If it like the S-types, just basic tools a piston wind back tool might help, but when I did mine, they wound in real easy with circlip pliers also worth checking the old pads as you remove them, some pads have a peg on the rear, some only on the inner two that locate on the inner piston slots also if it electronic parking brake, it needs to be reset before you operate the park brake or you could damage it, on the s-type you have to disconnect the battery and once reconnected you follow instructions on the dash when first switching the ignition on there usually little clips on the of the threaded studs as well that hold the disc back, these have to be unscrewed to remove the the discs, but a lot of people just force the discs off with a mallet, so there maybe none there nearly forgot to mention to release the park brake, press the hand brake off button and hold it while you switch the ignition off and remove the keys, this will release the park brake so you can remove the pads cheers Joe

Spongy brakes arfter changing reverse into drive. dri
JOE-DOT-COM replied to David dparks's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Hi Sounds like master cylinder starting to fail if there's no air in the system, nothing else can cause the brake pedal to go lower than normal would get it checked and get the brakes bled first as air can do this cheers Joe -
